    Surprisingly I've used this cantrip well. My character was a lvl 6 Gnoll Druid, it wasn't hard to find a flea

    Just so you know, the description gives the specifics of gust not infestation, but besides that great video and I imagine using this spell for a disease themed character

    This does feel like a theme-based spell. Combine it with a Warlock Invocation for Cloak of Flies and you have a caster who specializes in creepy crawlies. Pact of the Chain with a Familiar that can turn into an insect and it will add to the terror. The only issue is the poison damage is heavily resisted so you'd need some kind of way to get past that.

    • @ChancesSpellbook
      @ChancesSpellbook  4 года назад +4

      I really like this! You could combine it with the Elemental Adept Feat, in order to get around that pesky resistance

    • @ShankMugen
      @ShankMugen 3 года назад

      @@ChancesSpellbook So fun fact, Cold damage is the most resisted damage type, Poison is the damage type with the most immunities, so Elemental Adept won't be that much better

      The Swarmkeeper Ranger with Druidic Warrior Fighting Style might also suit this build, and if you could go to 5 levels into Warlock for Cloak of Flies as well, so you could have this Bug themed character fully functional at level 8

    Cast Infestation on a mounted creature. Either the rider or the mount itself. This should force a very entertaining riding check.

    Alas, infestation should not work with booming blade because the target is not willingly moving. If the target were to willingly move, it would also provoke opportunity attacks.

    I wish there was a upgraded version of this like maybe a first level spell you summon a swarm of stinging hornets in a 5ft cube and when an enemy enters it or starts it turn in the cube it takes 3D8 poison damage and is concentrating 1 minuets

    Casting Spike Growth, and then hitting the victim with Infestation, they take the damage from Spike Growth every turn, it can really help reduce an enemy's HP.

    🕸Im playing Drider Cleric of the spider domain. In a campaign where the monster homeland is being invaded by humans.
    And am using this cantrip to help flavor my worship of the 🕷spider queen.
    At 6th level i got the "blessing of the spider queen" and gain a devine connection to all spiders. And at 7th level Dominate beast. So my dm has approved that spiders will just do what i say. Because we're family.
    Thanks so much for these videos they help so much.

    Does a hole in the ground count as an “obstructed path”? Had a campaign where this was used, the player used it with the intention of scaring a soldier into a hole so he’d receive fall damage.

    I feel like this could work very well at battlefield control if you play a necromancer, cast cloudkill, grapple with your zombies, then move opponents closer to your zombies to be grappled inside of the cloudkill over the course of combat.

    • @quinnlee-miller9792
      @quinnlee-miller9792 3 года назад

      Not a bad idea, but you’d likely just cast Cloudkill on the targets, and then have the zombies who are already in melee grapple; furthermore, there’s only a 25% chance they move the way you want them to, and a 25% chance they move in a way you don’t want.
      Plus, Gust is objectively better as it always forces enemies toward the way you want (away from you)

    • @henrylicitra2906
      @henrylicitra2906 3 года назад

      @@quinnlee-miller9792 This is true, but strong winds specifically disperse cloudkill, rendering it useless.

    • @quinnlee-miller9792
      @quinnlee-miller9792 3 года назад

      @@henrylicitra2906 Gust is far from a strong wind, and the goal of it is to push an enemy INTO cloudkill, not use it on cloudkill.
      Cloudkill is what, 20ft radius vs a maximum 5ft cube of air blowing into a space adjacent to the poison. A cantrip can't disperse a leveled spell so easilly

    I'm using this spell with a Warforged fighter that is made out of wood(Dm asked if I could be more ancient then modern) But basically I hold all these bugs in my mouth and I will grapple enemy's to cast infestation, they can't run and my dm said I could use this to impose disadvantage on the enemy.

    Infestation ( *New* )
    - action
    - 30ft
    - instantaneous
    You cause a cloud of mites, fleas, and other parasites to appear momentarily on one creature you can see within range.
    The target must pass a Constitution save or take 1d4 poison damage and move 5 feet in a random direction. Roll a d4 for the direction: 1, north; 2, south; 3, east; or 4, west. If the target can't move or the direction is blocked, it doesn't move.
    Each target can only be attacked by one swarm per turn. Additional swarms keep following the target up to 60ft speed and attacking at the start of his turn if occupying his space. Creatures cant have more than 4 swarms following them. The swarm disperse if it is more than 30ft from the target.
    When at least 3 swarms occupy a creature's area it is considered dim light on a 5ft square around it.
    You create one additional swarm when you reach 5th, 11th, and 17th level.

    If only it wasn't poison damage... As it seems poison is laughable Either immuned or resisted by almost everything but the common npc, if that. And a lot are immune to the condition of poison as well. Which is a shame because it's a perfect cantrip if you want to go the nature or sommoner route of flavoring
