Unsure if you've gotten any answer yet. This was almost certainly rendered by a version of Kalles Fraktaler. As far as how long to render, I would guess based on the location of calculation and how Kalles generates the animations, I don't see this taking more than a week or so (if that).
After a time, you can see that there are a very regular pattern, is like multiple separate animations with it's frames separated in specific steps (almost intercalated) inside Mandelbrot set. I would like to research more about that.
