  • Hey friends! We successfully started microgreens on a jute mat! I didn't like growing them in soil, because I would always get soil on them when I harvested and could never wash it all off. Very annoying to have the gritting soil in my mouth. These jute mats, linked below, worked amazingly well as you can see from the thumbnail pic. Very happy with how these turned out and will be doing this again. We used a mixture of radish seed, alfalfa seed, wheatgrass seed, and microgreen packets that consisted of different brassicas. There are so many more kinds of seeds you can use for microgreens. This is just what we had on hand. Thanks for watching and seeya later!

    Cool!
I have grown wheat grass for my worms in the past, it is so cool how quickly things develop. Fortunately, the worms do not care about some dirt or leaf mold, lol.

Yay Microgreens!!! I'm working on growing them right now, too and I absolutely LOVE it Caitlin! I'm trying to grow some hydroponically on a silicone mesh mat so not dealing with the dirt, I get it! I just might need to try this jute mat! I am so impressed with all those seeds sprouting!! AMAZING! -Coral

Hey Coral! O a silicone mesh mat. Cool does that mean it's reusable? That would be a good investment then

@@gardeningwithcaitlin yes it is reusable, they say around 9 months. That's why I'm "trying" to figure that out! I'm kinda failing, but learning as I'm going!!

How’d you take care of the mold? Ours is getting some ahhhhh :(

Hey Jennifer. High concentration of peroxide water helps. I eyeball, so I don't have measurements for you. Then just rinse em real good after harvesting and hope for the best 😅

How long does it take for these seeds to sprout?
