I loved how these 2010s songs took the spirit of rock n roll and hip hop and told fantastical stories about adventures and partying. They told an engaging story throughout their lyrics and ended up in a different place than they began. Now music is just 6 words repeated on a loop if you’re lucky, and the stories are usually very vulgar and not fun to listen to. There’s enough nuance in these older songs and their lyrics to have them be ok for the kids to listen and sing along as well. I used to listen to this song when it was raining a lot growing up, glad I found it again. I’m wide awake. Got to go back and make my playlist now.
