    To be fair, the KTM rims are easier due to the proximity of the valve stem to the rim lock. I'm going to re-drill my Yammie rims like that.

    Awesome tutorial Jay. I was recently able to still get some bicycle brand Tip Top Real Talcum Powder. They’ve removed genuine Talc from baby powder due to all the lawsuits but nothing works as well as real Talc. Disclaimer: wear a mask so you don’t breathe it in. Heaven knows we all have access to masks now. The only other thing I do to help prevents the occasional tube pinching (which us less experienced mechanics might do) I put a small shot of air in the tube ...just enough to barely inflate it but not enough to put any stretch into the tube. Like so little you can’t measure the psi but enough that it kind of holds a real soft shape. That way it won’t add any difficulty to the install yet it won’t be able to lay flat between the tire and bead. Cheers

    One thing I'd mention is I always get guys coming back saying I didn't tighten the nut on the valve stem
    I Always tighten cap to the nut
    Not the nut tight to the rim this gives room for the stem to move when the tire spins on the rim
    In-between tests I've noticed my tire moving on the rim took the nut off and the valve stem when into my rim without going flat
    I've tried everything 2 rim locks idk if its because I'm 200lbs but always happens to me thinks it's because I use my tire up don't replace it often

    Question, Do I tighten the stem nut all the way til its hits the rim on both the front and rear rims or not? Also, is there a stem nut that also goes on the inside of the rim? And last question...My rims have a rubber mold between the rim and the stem nut. Do I tighten the stem nut til its hits the rubber mold or not?

    Thanks Jay! I’ve watched you change tyres in awe loads of time on instagram. Watched the rear tyre part about 10x and learned something new every time. My takeaways… get the beadlock set and work away from it like Jay says… pulling the tyre off to start again is tiring and demoralising. 🥵😅 Tyre paste is a must. My kit I got off my friend uses fairy liquid in a spray bottle. The wetter the better. Paste is best. With the rear, watch the technique closely for getting the spoon under the bead and not into the sidewall… squeeze down, slide in to get the bead and pop it over. That was the bit I missed but soon as I got it, was a lot easier. A little air to fill the tube but not too much, enough as it sits well so you don’t pinch it, too much and it’s got too much shape for seating and you risk nipping it that way too. Away to do the front now. 😁

    likely wont get answer but one question. I see on some brand tires like that one you are doing here, they have a yellow circle on the tire I think it was actually a video you did saying that is the place you should put the new valve stem. ? Why is that Thanks

  • @cs9575
    @cs9575 Год назад +1

    Many times I seem to get a bulge in the sidewall of a freshly mounted tire right at the valve stem. This makes for a lump as the tire goes around. Does anybody know how to prevent that and once it's there how to get rid of it? It seems to happen often on soft carcass tires such as shinko 241 and others. Thanks

    Not sure if anyone else caught it, but on the rear tire you let the air out after popping the bead. Then tightened up the rim lock. On the front you filled the tire with air, popped the bead and then tightened rim lock. I never know what order to do it it?

    • @dirtbiketv1
