- The 4 of us set off on a family 4 wheel driving and fishing adventure. It ended up being one of my best trout fishing sessions for the season and we had a lot of fun climbing over some steep hills, and through river crossings.

I’ve watched 100s of 4x4 videos on here and not once have I heard them give that great brake tip to cool them down before going in the water 👍🏿
I love that you love what you are doing. These aren't keepers or anything, but the enjoyment provided to you, and in turn to us, is fantastic Robbie.
Keep it up.
Thanks so much mate. 👍👍
what a great arvo, time with family is always precious
Thanks Dmac, you're not wrong mate.
Being a mechanic, what I can tell you is when you head into the water. That’s creates sudden contraction of the discs. They will warp and get excessive runout. Meaning one side of the disc is 0.1 of a mm more worn than the other. This tiny difference can cause brake shudder. Anyways great video Robbie, you’re sounding healthy!
Thanks for the detailed explanation mate. It happened to me years ago, so I was speaking from lived experience. LOL I used to have a Suzuki Sierra and I made the mistake.
Great Video Robbie 👍 Merry Christmas 🎄. I went Fishing over the past 2 days and I caught 6 Golden Perch, 3 Murray Cod, 1 Silver Perch and 5 Carp. In Total I caught 15 Fish over 2 Days 🎣
Thanks mate. WOW, that is EPIC. Well done.
Hats off to you Robbie for getting to and wading in those treacherous creeks. That is some hard yakka.
Thanks mate. It sure is much harder than I used to be. I just go very slow and steady these days.
Nice mate got onto a few that time great day out with the family cheers mate
Excellent video love the scenery and the beautiful clear water - drink it it’s safe I fished and camped in the area near woods point in the 70s and the water was beautiful to drink - this Gods own country
Thanks so much Pete. This sure is God's country. 🙏
Best trout fishing I've seen you film this season.

Thank you so much for your kind words and amazing support mate.
Hi Robbie, merry Christmas to you and your family.
Loved the underwater footage of your soft plastic
towards the end of the vid.
No wonder the trout have multiple strikes , such a natural presentation.
Thanks Bruce. Merry Christmas to you and your family too. That's why I love fishing with soft plastics, they're just so natural.
Well done Robbie great little video 👍
Thanks so much mate.
Very nice Robbie, great day out!
Thanks so much Frank. 👍👍
NICE water!
You got a few anyway!
G'day Robbie, hope you had a merry christma and
have a safe and great new year, Great video🐟
Thanks so much mate, and straight back at ya. 💪💪👍
Great tip saying pull over if your on the brakes going down hill they crack once hitting cold water. Another tip in a auto low rang and 1st gear walks down it. Great to see you getting on some trout done well buddy
Also a good idea to let diffs, gearboxes etc cool down if you don't have breathers fitted as they can draw water past the seals if they're hot and suddenly cooled down.
@oldbloke204 spot on buddy
Thanks so much mate. 👍👍
Enjoy your Xmas Robbie thanks for your content this year. Hope you back holds out.
Thanks so much Neil. I hope that you had a great Christmas too.
I thought you had a new Blue Hilux Robbie 🤔 I must be going mad 😀😀
G’day Robbie. Those are some pretty isolated creeks mate. You are in some rugged bush. Great video mate.
Thanks mate. I absolutely love my time in the high country.
We’ve had the 1/64 jig heads for well over 30 years at home. Deadly for crappie and trout. Not a good idea drinking the water from the creeks. It’s the pathogens you need to worry about.
Buy a life straw bottle please Robbie !!
Travel all over the countryside, ask Robbie, ask Robbie... awww you bought a FORD!!! ARRRGGHH!
I saw a bloke last week at the lights with a similar Ford ute to yours with the bonnet up! OVERHEATED on a sub 30 deg day lol!
He was getting out a jug of COOLANT for it! LMAO!
LOL Poor guy, that really sux. 🙏
@@robbiefishing Yeah well...
@@robbiefishing I am guessing yours is the DIESEL model?
I think his was the petrol model!
Diesels usually never overheat as they run so much cooler than petrol!
G'day Robbie, Drinking that clear mountain stream water keeps you from putting on the extra KGs. I've put on way too many since I moved away and can't get up into those hills.
Thanks mate. I know the weight struggle very well. I'm hoping to lose some weight in 2025. I hope you can too, it's so bloody hard.
Good stuff 👍 Robbie
Thanks mate.
Well done mate merry Christmas and your one of my favourite youtubers and you are such a amazing and inspiring person keep up the good work mate we should go fishing together one day maybe i am going down to Wangaratta in 2 years
Thanks so much for your kind words mate. Wangaratta is a beautiful spot. I love living here. 🙏
Merry Christmas Robbie. 2 U and Family
Thanks mate, Merry Christmas to you and your family too.
Good video bobby.😂
Thanks mate. Haha Not many people call me Bob. LOL 🤣
i really liked this video. when i do this with family they get bored. seems their photography/love of fishing is just not true. So i get to drive and only drive to satisfy their preference. i need a better family 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahaha that's so funny. 😂😂😂 Thanks mate.
Great video mate and merry Christmas, would love to see some more 4wding cameos in your videos
Thanks so much mate. Merry Christmas to you too.
Great vid
Thanks mate.
As you navigated the stream I saw an old fallen log laying parallel to the stream. The log looked to be 40-60cm in diameter. It amazed me that a log that diameter was so straight and void of any sign of branches. Must have been a very tall tree before it came down. Here craft persons are recovering logs like that to mill in home based saw mills used for hobby/crafting purposes. Just an observation that did not take away from the splendor of that stream and environment surrounding it. I would count the encounter as a Christmas blessing.
Thanks so much mate. We have these beautiful big trees here called Mountain Ash. They're either the tallest flowering tree in the world, or the tallest flowering tree in Australia. I can't remember which one. LOL I'm any case they're huge trees, very tall and very straight.
They were logged extensively for many years, but logging them was banned a few years back because we need to stop and preserve what Forrest's we have left.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas and will have a happy new year.
Thanks mate, straight back at ya. 👍💪
Merry Christmas
Thanks mate, straight back at ya. 👍💪
Some nice little creeks there. Merry Christmas Robbie

merry christmas
Thanks mate. Merry Christmas to you too. 👍👍
Hope you had a great christmas
Thanks mate, I hope you did too.
Merry Christmas Robbie & family, any chance of explaining to viewers, who may not know, how to tell the difference between a male & female trout.👍
Thanks mate Merry Christmas to you too. Thanks for the great suggestion. I will do my best to remember.
I had a fish in that little creek at Beechworth and got a few bites but no fish
That's awesome buddy. The trout fishing has been super tough this season.
I drink straight from the creek also but only the smaller feeder streams, got really crook once drinking from a bigger river.
That sucks mate. Probably a good idea to stick to the smaller streams.
Nice ranger
Thanks mate. 👍👍
We just bought a place with a tiny stream that holds trout strick tiger micro will be ordered
That's so awesome, I'm jealous. Haha 😂😂
Hey Robbie when you show the videos of you in the Ute you might of forgotten to blur your number plate
Hi mate, that's all good. I'm not too fussed. A lot of people see it every day anyway. I can't blur it out when I'm parked at Woolies. LOL 🤣 👍👍
@ yeah haha so true tho also I think I might of seen you at lake Nillahcootie at some point with my dad and his mate
know any good yabby dams around ballarat? I dont keep any yabbys i just like catching them by hand with a string
Also nice video robbie
Thanks mate. I don't know any down there sorry. 🙏
Ive bought some of those very light and small strike tyger plastics and jig heads and would like to know what okuma rod that is as it seems to cast well.
Hi mate, I honestly can't remember the model name sorry. It's a graphite rod with a fibreglass tip.
It's actually not a great casting rod, but is awesome fun to reel fish in with once they're booked up..
Did you go through the crossing mate? Shes pretty rough, very wild water down stream aswell.
Yep, got through it no worries mate. Awesome, I must check it out. That's an area I've never explored before.
Hi robbie hope u had a great Xmas and a merry new year...🍺🍺🍺here's to nxt year...also just asking what 4x4 u have as I'm interested in getting a rodeo tc🎉🎉
Thanks so much mate. Happy New Year to you too.
Select a lower gear for going down steep incline save your breaks over heating and causing reak fade
Absolutely it does, but on the steep hills you still need to ride your breaks unless you're using hill descent, in which case the computer in the car still applies the breakers.
what your thoughts on casting downstream or casting upstream when lure fishing for trout.
I always cast upstream where possible.
Morning mate, where are you finding those 1/64 jigs? I can only find them on Amazon. Cheers.
G'day mate, you can buy them direct from the Strike Tiger website, based on Tassie. 👍
Here is the link: striketiger.com.au/jigheads/
@ ah thank you mate
Hey Robbie when was the last time you fished with the camo man I think you fished with him not too long ago because I saw a video from another guy that was with you and he released a video with you and sandy about 2 months ago and that guy’s channel is Andrew’s outdoors
Hi mate, probably not since that day. Were planning on heading out again soon.
Hey is there any good fishing spots near the wodonga area
Hi mate, Lake Hume is a favourite of mine.
What line weight would you recommend for 1/64 jighead mate?
Hi mate, I use 4lb mono. Maxima Ultragreen is pretty much all I ever use for this type of fishing.
😂🎉
Next time y'all go out 4wding Message us, we would love to go out 4wding and give some more Tips for 4wding.
Awesome, thanks Tom. 👍👍
