i mean...thats a pretty standard attack, you should watch my russian hunting partner fight fatalis with his glaive, he almost exclusively uses the descending thrust to kill it.

So I find this video literally after my 10th furious rajang solo with insect glaive and I thought I'd check and see what you do different and my conclusion went something like "oh, I see what I'm doing wrong, I need to stop sucking." For real though still a nice run despite the limp. I've become more comfortable and reliant on evade extend as my runs went along but still not done grinding cuz screw those ghoulish gold gorer and their overall drop quantities vs needed amounts and the lack of investigations.
@Yung Dani I would do that if not for the fact I use plunderblade palico to get more rewards/shiny drops, I accept the price of his presence in exchange for free mats. It was the main reason I was hunting furious rajang at the time afterall, so I could get his weapons and armor.
furious monke is my favorite monke. vanilla is too spastic and tempered is too scary and aggressive; furious is just right. that was a cool fight. loved the aerial vault over the ground lightning. also liked using the aerial thrust as a wakeup to get the kinsect out during the waking animation. always fun learning tricks from your videos!
I'm back to MH since I avoided spoiling myself since the awesome trailer of Namielle and just catched up to speed, I'm so glad i can come back and watch Canta's content again with no spoiler worries. I'm so disoriented to what is meta though oof.
raging brachy and safi weapons. teostra /safi or teostra/brachy armor for most weapons. dunno about bow and guns but everything that needs sharpness goes one of the 2 routes. hope it helps

As a Master of the IG, I feel that whenever you see an IG user flying constantly is because they do not believe in their own ability. Or they want to wear it down some before they stick to the ground.
Spamming aerials before last area for Safi or Kulve (2 of the most heavily farmed monsters) is the worst thing you could possibly do, damage is weak and mounts are better if used last... I would much rather take a grounded paralysis IG than a aerial spammy one, that's better crowd control. Look, I'm not hating on the weapon, I loved it in 4U and it was crazy mobile in GU but I also love not being carried by my teammates. Aerial-only Glaive just doesn't do enough consistent damage for me to feel like the aerial Glaiver is not being carried. Yes it is tons of fun, but online I like doing my part damage wise so that's where my thoughts reside.
I think for online coop should be aerial so that others can spam.. support IG.. thats how it is.. for solo you should be using ground coz aerial might slow you down for solo hunting]

I was wondering though why you opt to triple claw attack and soften vs sending him into the wall, my thought is that the knockdown state goes stale with every successive ko, so to send him away would just mean wasted time for dmg, which instead can be used to build up the ko status naturally and making maximum use of knockdown time? Again fantastic run it makes me realize I gotta polish my ground game on glaive. Cheers!
TA rules dont allow for wall bangs, the idea behind them is that you use mainly your weapon to beat the monster without the aid of any cc mechanics that is not provided by the weapon itself
I play Mhr and when I had to fight Rajang I love to him but when I picked up an insect glaive I was weaving his attacks 24/7 It was like the helicopter scene with king king except I didn’t faint

Im new with iceborn and doesnt quite understand why all these run do flinch shot but finishing it with weapon attack instead of knocking the monster off the wall. Nice fight tho salute
TA rules are a community made set of rules for a specific kind of speedrun that aims to showcase how to use a weapon against a monster as much as possible without using any of the many mechanics that give you free openings like traps or knocking the monster against the wall. For casual play I absolutely recommend to knock the monster against the wall.
Yes, the idea behind TA rules is to primarily show how to use a weapon against a monster without using mechanics like traps or wall slam to create an opening for easy free hits because you can do that regardless of weapon anyway.

R + triangle + circle while you have slinger ammo equipped. Or maybe it was L instead of R, I can't remember, they swapped kinsect controls from Iceborne to Rise.
The infinite combo, i think you need to have a red buff at the very least and then do Traingle/Y Triangle/Y Circle/B and repeat. Not sure if that is correct tho BUT, your combo chain always have to transition in to Circle/B with the wide swing, tornado would break the combo. So look out for that.

You manage the camera angles very well. Usually I get destroyed when the monster uses the fly here fly there camera move and I can't see where it is.
I literally stopped using IG after this monster, this is pretty helpful to go back into it if I do.
