My husband received a fleece hat as a gift many years ago that he uses while running in the winter and we've been trying to find another one just like it to no avail. I decided I would sew one for him, but before I started I thought I'd try to see if there was a similar pattern online. Well, you took the guess-work away from my project! This is exactly the way his hat was constructed! I love the shape and simplicity of it. Can't wait to get started! Caroline, thank you for this video with very clear instructions!
@@ellellbee-I would guess that you would have the width be equal to the circumference of an average preschooler’s head and reduce the height. Similarity if you would size for a school aged child.
I am a "newbie" to sewing. I was gifted w/a ton of fleece from a friend..."Hmmm, what do I make w/this ?" Fleece hats... I watched your video many times. LOVED it !! I better get sewing, as I will be making these for many projects. I'm going to be adjusting sizes for kids & men ~ wish me luck.
I'm a sewer and have lots of fleece left over from sewing projects. This is perfect, great tutorial and my hats (5) turned out so cute. Thanks again Caroline. Will definitely follow you.
I just was gifted a Singer & am just beginning to learn how to sew. The 1st thing I wanted to make was..a fleece hat & so I went to RUclips & watched your tutorial like 5 times before I felt confidant enough to try it. I am very happy with the hat I made using Black Fleece & so a BIG Thank You. You made it easy to follow what you were doing.
I made this hat in about 20 minutes! Because I only had a scrap to work with I altered the dimensions of the pattern a bit, but it came out beautifully! I think this is my Christmas present for all! Thank you!
Hi Caroline, I am new to sewing, and was looking for "beginner friendly" sewing projects. This one is my go-to for making Christmas presents for my friends this year!!. Very clear to understand. Thank you so much for sharing. Isn't it nice when RUclips will shelve videos for viewing throughout the years, otherwise, I would not have found this one. Thanks again!!!
This is a very good sewing pattern for a warm hat. I made more than 15 hats for Christmas gifts. It's a gift that "keeps on giving." Fits various head sizes, quick to make, easy, economical to send in the mail. Best of all, it was well received! Have plans to make more. Great pattern, and video. Thank you!
A wonderful beautifully explained and so very easy to do Thank you so much for a well thought out video Enjoyed making this hat Just found it a little hard working out the measurements for a young lad
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your Fleece Hat tutorial! You explained so easily and clearly it sewed it so effortlessly that I can't wait to make many hats for my family and friends for this Christmas season 2014. I am definitely going to subscribe and will watch your videos twice (2) :) BIG SMILES! Happy Holidays!
It should be mentioned that the longer side of the template needs to be placed with the stretch side of the fleece. I learned that the hard way with a hat that didn't stretch around the head.
Hi Caroline. I just found your pattern and have been sewing them up like mad for Samaritans Purse Christmas shoeboxes. Thank you for such an easy to follow tutorial. I just made one addition. I zigzag stitch around the hat to enclose the seams. I'd enclose a photo but don't see how. Sallee
I've been able to make about 13hats from a no sew throw kit from Joanne' s that was only $7.99! And the 2 fabrics coordinate nicely for a nice contrast for the cuff😊
I wonder if this could work as a reversible hat? Make the band's half the size then make two hats. Sew everything right sides together? Leave an opening to flip on the band? Too bulky on top?
Easy and great instructions .... I need to make some of these for occ,.which is operation Christmas child. A Christian ministry to needy children worldwide. Thank you
Thanks for watching. Everyone in my family (children to adults) enjoy the hats with the same dimensions as I have shown in the video. I encourage you to experiment and let us know what measurements work best for you.
Thank you, but I was hoping you would post (add) a pic or two in with this video. Maybe you could do a new one and add them into that video for everyone to see (?)
do you have an easy pattern like this for a reversible beanie?? sorry if it sounds like a bit of a naff question, i'm a complete beginner so I dont know but would like to make a simple reversible beanie
If you did that, the brim would be too thin and your ears would get cold. By adding an additional two layers for the brim, it ensures your ears will be kept warm.
It's possible to follow the directions and hand sew. Looking for ways to do what you want rather than focusing on what you don't have will lead to success. Believe in you.
I have made several of these for charity projects at church. I can make quite a few in an hour
Thank you for sharing.
I want to say thank you for posting this super easy beanie, we sew for the vet in the hospitals and will send over seas thank you again .

Would you say this is a one-size-fits-all pattern? Would it work for kids Kindergarten - Middle school?
I made hats for adults, they loved them, I would cut down on all sides to fit youth and younger.
I just made one of these and it turned out so adorable! Thanks for the super easy-to-follow tutorial!
Done it :) I adjusted my sizes for a baby 6 months and it worked great ! Thanks for the tut!! Now I need mittens, booties, and a vest to match !!
How did you adjust the size? Did you take the same amount off the length and the width?

24=60 centímetros
15”= 38 centímetros
why wouldnt u leave the hat all one piece and just roll the cuf ?
