  • Got another good deal on this John Deere LX188 and in this video I do what it takes to make it run and cut again. Very happy with this machine and it’ll be a great addition to the farm. Thank you for watching!

    Thanks, mate! I have an old LX188, too. Dad filled ot woth kerosene, and then slipped the PTO by running over a stump. Ive been working on restoring it for a few months now and I hit a dead end. This is gonna help me a LOT. Thanks, man!

      I’m glad this video brought you some insight! And these older John Deere’s are the best to work on especially with learning mechanics, I’m sure you’ll get it all fixed up in no time 👍🏻

      @@Zack_Raefski One more question. Where is the starter at. Cuz I saw u spraying starter fluid, but where? The hood was blocking it

    • @Zack_Raefski
      @Zack_Raefski  9 месяцев назад +1

      I was spraying it at the intake for the carb, the air filter and cover sits on top of the engine. And the starter is on the side of the engine, should have a thick red power wire going too it

    To get the deck out from underneath the tractor simply pull the pins in all four (4) deck wheels and rotate them 90 degrees from the straight position, reinstall pins and the deck will roll out sideways!

    That is THE BEST lawnmower JD ever made.. I still use mine twice a week on my immediate yard,(two acres). I used it for a while cutting my side yards, ( 6 acres) . This engine and form factor and transaxle and deck JD should have kept making. it is nimble, very smooth and very quiet machine... keep it well serviced, , lubed, etc it will last forever .

    Very informative lawn tractor repairing video. Glad to see the engine restart again after the carburetor swap. I'm wondering whether you're up for a collaboration? Hipa supplies parts for small engines
    and you get the knowledge on outdoor power equipment repairing. Maybe we would work together to help more people in the community?

    Hey just got the same lawn tractor for free needs carb work but beside the fact it won’t start due to either wiring the biggest issue is I don’t know where to put the wiring that is ur positive to don’t know if I put it on the starter or somewhere else

    • @Zack_Raefski
      @Zack_Raefski  7 месяцев назад

      If it’s a red thicker gauge wire down by the engine it should go to the starter, or starter solenoid. See where the wire is coming from and if it’s coming from the solenoid it’ll go right to the starter
