nice tip with the reflective sheet rolled up and then put behind the support sticks.
glad to see the fire pit gave you heat inside the shelter - looks like the reflector stones worked too.
loads of ideas i can use - thanks lilly, your smiles at the end said it all.

Hiya, Lilly!. I something new this afternoon on building a fire pit and one benefit I learnt Horticulture college, were when planting a tree you place the tree in certain direction of the wind, than place a stake.

Lily again you show everyone simple but effective ways to build a shelter in the woods, this is a continues learning experience, this is what it's all about, you produce great videos and use all the knowledge gained to provide us with good honest simple education, respect to this lady, oh and Dax, sure he could have channel of his own. 👍.

One of those flat rocks might work good as a flat cooking surface on the side of the pit.

It's looking great. You can take some bigger stones from your outer ring and place them under your bench onice they are good and hot. Warm seat = happy. You could also maybe put one good big flat cooking stone.
You could also consider taking a big flat slab of wood like you sometimes find near lumber sites... Put it upright by the fire and let it heat...then again a nice warm thing to sit on.
    Keep it coming!

The shelter is looking very good. Thanks for sharing. I like everything you have done. I still suggest a plastic drop cloth in front of the shelter to keep in the warm air. It seems the front of the shelter is too exposed to the wind. Those drop cloths cost $2 to $5 and it will work better than a wall to keep the wind off you.

Very nice work, shelter looks great, fire pit works good, did you ever consider making your fire pit longer in front of your shelter, for a bigger fire during winter months? Im not criticizing or anything, but with this type of shelter, a full length fire works really great, and once it is burning, it is so much less work feeding it, keep up the good work!

One other thought. use a clear shower curtain on a stick frame to block the wind. You can see through it and you could tie it where you want it, or put it on a slide for a door. You can use several of them if you like, and make a front roof, and leave a large hole at the top of your fire area to draw the smoke out.

Hi Lily, It's almost a home now! Is that reflective tarp you are using by Grabber? 340g, 213 x 152cm? Have you used it in any way other than a reflector and what do you think of it? Also, would carrying a second one be worth it or is the weight penalty too high? I think I'm as impatient as everybody else to see it finished. Well done and thanks for sharing. Paul
