just a small contribution, i pack my emergency gear (tools, first aid etc.) on the high side saddle bag, that way if i have to stop on the side of the road in an emergency, I'm away and not with my back from/to oncoming traffic while opening and accessing the box
Awesome! It's an amazing experience. Take your time, and enjoy the journey out there. We'll keep the videos coming. Thanks for the support, David! Ride safe 👍
On the fuel thing - after years of close calls and a couple out of gas experiences , my thoughts now are, better to top up 100 miles early than run out 10 miles early.
I’m a new rider and I have to tell you love watching your videos. They really help me out on the does and don’t and how to get ready for a trip. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work. Alex
Well done and great info. I keep an air gauge on the bike at all times. Yes! Even if you have a 3/4 tank and you’re at a station, just fill it up. Thanks for a few tips I forgot about , see you down the road guys. 🤙🏻
Your videos are the absolute best. Love your drops. The work is spectacular. So hope I can meet the 2 Lane crew, Sturgis this year (staying in Deadwood 8/2-8/8). Cheers Buds… See yah down the road 👍🏻💯
Traveling from east of Nashville again this year. I’m going Route 66 when I get to Springfield MO and till I reach Santa Fe NM then meeting up with friends in Moab UT before heading to Sturgis. I’m bringing octane boost just in case I get bad gas which happened to me returning last year while traveling through Nebraska. Doesn’t take up much space and worth it. Hope to see you guys there one day and I really enjoy the videos and info.
Awesome! That sounds like quite the route, you'll definitely be seeing some pretty cool stuff on the journey. That's not a bad idea, we've never had a major issue with finding 91, but having that booster could come in handy for sure. Thanks for watching Fitz! 👍
I found my first few trips I always overpacked. Now, unless I am going to BFE, if I find I need something, there's always a Wally-Mart, or Ace. Rarely need to resort to that, but it's kept me from overloading. Just my $.02. Nice informative video as always!
Yup, we definitely pack a lot less than we used to. For these vids, we try to show people options for their first time, just in case. Thanks for watching!
Always learn something...👍... I use Fobo bike 2 tire pressure sensor and app...So anytime.. I can open app check my tire pressure and get alerted if getting low...Just a mini FYI...😎😎😁
Thanks, NUT!! We'll look into that. The bikes do a good job of monitoring tire pressure, but it never hurts to have a solid backup with some good data!
Hey guys excellent video re how to pack for the long haul. We have a trip coming up, oh by the way we're in Malta - that little island south of Sicily in the Mediterranean which is only 25 clicks long but crossing over to Sicily by ferry then well that's 230 clicks side to side plus more on tour if we decide to venture north into Italy!! Thank you for some excellent suggestions there, now all I gotta find is an Air BnB for ten guys with a washing machine being away for 3 weeks or so!! Take care, God bless and stay safe guys and keep these vids coming please :)
Great video, very helpful. Tracy and I are packing for 7-10 days but our whole trip will be 17 days… can’t wait, we start our journey at the end of the month… See you all in Sturgis
You guys inspire me to ride more and explore the UK. Hopefully one day soon when the borders open I’ll get to take a trip in America 🇺🇸 thanks for your effort on the videos all the time I look forward to them
That's what we like to hear, Max!! Stoked to hear you're getting out to explore! We're hoping the same, we'd love to check out the UK and do some riding! Thanks for the support, we'll see ya down the road!
Just did a 4k mile trip in one week recently. Only packing tips I can contribute to this video is that I didn't pack any underwear, just wore surf trunks instead. Saved space and made it super easy to pull over and jump into the lakes and rivers along the way. Just drop trow and hop in! Drying off wasn't an issue as they dry fast especially when riding in hot weather. was actually kind of refreshing. Also, roll up dirty clothes into the shirts like a burrito. that saves space too.
Hey, not a bad way to do it! Saves space and time haha. Nothing like hopping in a lake or river during a hot day on the road! Thanks for sharing, DRS 👍
Good info guys. San Antonio bound, number eight. Thanks for the Ear Peace info I just ordered some and will be first time trying out a Cardo unit. Hope my seat gets in before I head out ! Will try and stop by and see you guys! 🤙🏼

Man...that's what it's all about. Super stoked to hear that, Chris! Snap a pic of your first gas receipt next to your odometer at the beginning of the trip and another one at the end. We've got some cool stuff heading your way where that will come in handy. Stay tuned.. Ride safe and take tons of pics! That's gonna be one badass journey 🤘
Great Video as usual! Would love a video of how you guys pack when you have your wives with you. A buddy and me are doing a 10 day ride with my wives in September and I feel like we are going to run out of storage on our Baggers with all the stuff they want to bring. :)
Thanks for watching Joe! That's a great idea. We'll definitely have to make a video on that down the line. For the most part, that's where the luggage comes in. Of course they have to pack somewhat light still, but using large duffles or bags and sharing space with them is usually the go-to. It takes some trial and error for sure, but at least you're on baggers!
I like to pack stuff that can be washed in 1 or 2 loads (darks & brights). Most tire pressure sensor systems display the air the last time you're moving. Not what you have at the start.
Definitely a great seat for touring and canyons alike! He's got 25k miles riding all over the country on that baby and no complaints. For the heritage, your best bet would be to go with the Saddlemen Explorer seat which is more of a touring specific seat, but still great all-around for comfort and support, or you could go with a Step-Up seat just like the one in this video. Great tips. I've done my fair share of touring. I've got a good set-up for my Street Glide, but always interested in what & how others pack for long trips. The latex gloves is an excellent idea. I'll be heading to Sturgis from N. Ca., maybe our paths will cross. Safe travels.
I have a 2020 SGS with the Kraus front end and bars so the bike is now flashed..no key. If the bike gets dropped you have to enter data into the info system before you can restart it. For that reason and others my manual is always with the bike and not at home in the garage where it will do me no good on the road. Great informative video thanks.
Good evening, I'm planning my first solo trip, Daytona Biketoberfest 2022, about a 3000-mile round trip. So I'm not crazy. The saddlebags, side cases it is mostly for the stuff you need right away. Top case tools, drones, big jacket, etc.. Then your clothes should go on a duffel etc...As it is my first time doing this, I guess Im going all the way in.,
Yes sir. Maybe on saddle for quick stuff, oil, tool roll etc. One for clothes and toiletries and or Lance runs jacket and hat and a few other items tour pack, Gaylin run a Saddlemen 3400 for longer trips with clothing and saddles for other items and Josh runs a Pelican with all of our camera gear. Enjoy and don’t over think it. We have a few packing videos you can check out beside this one. Good luck and enjoy the ride!
Omg honestly honestly you guys made my day ,posting my words at the end. Thank you very much. I got goosebumps from this. I will post that on instagram and @ you. Thanks a lot.
Glad to hear it, Guzzisti!! We love all of the positive comments and support, and being able to share that is awesome! Thank you! We'll see ya down the road..
Thanks Patrick for reminding me. I just put them in my bag with a towel. I seem to forget them EVERY year and wind up at rapids wally world for a pair.
Nice video...but guys, you travel like "kings"... no camping gear? LOL That was the worst nightmare of our trip... because it takes a lot of space... :) Kidding aside, I think it was great to see 3 different options: Minimal, Moderate and All In... great stuff
That's the Thrashin Supply Woodstock vest. We have the Thrashin' Nightrider vest, which is the same material, but has a leather patch instead of the large design 2lanelife.com/collections/jackets-outerwear/products/riding-vest-nightrider-dropping-july-9th-12-noon

Since you sell Lexin on your website, what sets Cardo apart from Lexin to where you wouldn't use a device you are selling? Inquiring minds want to know. Keep up the great work and we will see you down the road!
Hey there Craig, thanks for the support! We were rocking the Lexins before, and got an opportunity to test out the Cardos and we're loving them. We're just waiting to be able to become a dealer for Cardo so we can sell them on our site as well. We had a great experience with all of the different Lexin devices over the years, but for what we do, the Cardo is turning out to be the perfect device. We've also noticed the range is significantly better. Hope that helps! See ya dopwn the road..
@@2LaneLife Thank you for your quick response! Yes, this does help. I didn't realize the G16 wasn't hands free. I could see where that wouldn't be too conducive on a bike. Thanks again!
Good advice thanks , iam going to be in sturgis for 2 weeks so iam carring stuff on my bike , it also cost me $186.00 to have two boxes of stuff sent (ups) to a resort iam staying at . Are you guys going to have a meet and greet your viewers ?
Awesome! Thanks for watching, and glad to hear you found it helpful! Not always cheap, but shipping items can definitely make things easier. Yes sir! We'll be doing 2 meet and greets during Sturgis. We'll be doing one Saturday August 7th from 1-3pm at Legend Suspensions HQ, and another one Sunday August 8th from 10:00AM-Noon at the Klockwerks booth at Black Hills Harley Davidson in rapid city. We'll post up info on Instagram as well. Catch you there!
This year is my first year going to Sturgis and it's my first out of state trip. What tools should I take? I don't want to pack my whole tool box lol..
That's awesome, we're stoked for you! For the basics, as long as you carry a small standard set with tools for all of your main fastening bolts, and getting into anything that you're able to fix yourself in case anything happens. Gaylin carries an assortment of tools compiled over the years, and Josh carries a Road Tech H3 Tool Kit with most of the essentials. For an out of the box traveling took kit, it gets the job done! 2lanelife.com/products/roadtech%E2%84%A2-h3-tool-kit?_pos=3&_sid=d4870beba&_ss=r Another tip, make sure to put both of you feet down when stopping at stop signs and lights out there. They'll get ya if not! Ride safe and have a great trip! 🤘
First time to Sturgis and I plan to go minimalist. Never thought about earplugs. I was a helicopter pilot for 20 years so I can’t hear anything anyways. Maybe I should have used earplugs 🤷♂️😂
My fav packing tip is pack old underwear and socks, wear once and throw away. More room for the ride back. And remember you're gonna buy that cool been there t shirt.
Haha that might be the best way to make room for the cool been there shirt 😂👍 We've gotten tons of comments on the old undie method..not a bad way to go! Thanks for watching, Eric 🤘
Great stuff, thanks for all the info. My preference is to leave the rain gear behind. After 15 trips to Sturgis from AZ, I simply use my leather jacket through the rain (which are normally short lived thunderstorms) and within 20-30 min after the rain you are dry (because of heat and wind). So, leave the rain gear behind and gain some space. My 2 cents.....
LOL, you over packed, simple and easy, rain gear, two pairs of gloves, two extra pairs of jeans, two extra pairs of tee shirts, two extra pairs of underwear, same for socks, hygiene product's, oil, tools, everywhere you travel there are places to wash clothing, denome shirts, walking shoes, go lite,
Great tips, You Guys have perfected the long haul, nothing's worse than uncomfortable, wet and cold, but when you're prepared no big deal.
You got that right David! Thanks! 🤘🤘

Yeah I’ve came very close to running out of gas so now when I get to 1/2 a tank, I’m looking for a nice not run down gas station.
Carry a siphon hose , just in case ...

Gaylin carries an assortment of tools compiled over the years, and Josh carries a Road Tech H3 Tool Kit with most of the essentials. For an out of the box traveling took kit, it gets the job done!

Another tip, make sure to put both of you feet down when stopping at stop signs and lights out there. They'll get ya if not!
Ride safe and have a great trip! 🤘
Hey Homie what route you guys taking I'm in the 818SFV.. thanks..
Still working on that, but we're thinking Day 1 we'll end up in Southern Utah, then burning up for 2 full days up to SD

What editing software do you guys use on your videos?
Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects 🤘
Thanks for watching, Dixie!
First time to Sturgis and I plan to go minimalist. Never thought about earplugs. I was a helicopter pilot for 20 years so I can’t hear anything anyways. Maybe I should have used earplugs 🤷♂️😂
What? Jk Juan! Hope to see you there! Be good to meet you face to face not over the phone. Ride Safe! See you there.
Hi guys 🤟🏻
What's up Joe!! 🤘
@@2LaneLife not to much waiting for the new drop 🍻
My fav packing tip is pack old underwear and socks, wear once and throw away. More room for the ride back. And remember you're gonna buy that cool been there t shirt.
Haha that might be the best way to make room for the cool been there shirt 😂👍
We've gotten tons of comments on the old undie method..not a bad way to go!
Thanks for chiming in. 👍👍
Fuel can??
Getting 300+ miles to the tank we rarely carry a fuel can, but certainly not a bad idea in some cases!
Thanks for watching, D1 👍
I’m always telling new bike travelers not to over pack and do laundry on the longer trips. 🥃😎
👍👍
What seat do you guys use for a long ride?
We run the Saddlemen Slim LS and with two up the Saddlemen Road Sofa. You can see both at 2LaneLife.com
Where do you leave from?
San Fernando Valley, CA
@@2LaneLife I'm just over the hill in Bakersfield, I'd love to tag along with you guys sometime.
Roll your clothes rather than fold them. It saves space. Instead of bungie cords I use bungie nets.
We do some of that as well. Thanks for chiming in Scott. And yes bungle nets are great too!! 🤘🤘👍👍
Good stuff guys!!! #gomotorcycling
Thanks Tango!! #gomotorcycling
Your bike becomes a mountain, you'll have to rename it ....
