My 1st concert ever was Foghat with Pat Travers opening 1977. The stadium actually shut the lights off for a second every time everyone yelled OUT GO THE LIGHTS! Tommy Aldridge performed the best drum solo I've ever seen.
Amen brother ! I saw him at a Club called Summers On The Beach in Ft. Lauderdale,FL. in ‘84. Jerry Riggs was with him on lead guitar. THAT was a mutherfuckin’ LOUD tear your face off rock show !!!! Unbelievable and I’ve seen shows all the way back to ‘76 starting with Lynyrd Skynyrd in Oct. then Aerosmith/Derringer in Dec. then Queen/Thin Lizzy 9FEB77 etc...all in Boston.
My first concert in '77 Pat was first , third on the bill. Cheap Trick next and Kiss headlined. What a first show, Pat has always been in my life soundtrack since that day. BOOM BOOM !!
My first concert was Foghat, Eddie Money opened for him, at the Hollywood Sportatorium. Also saw them at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Molly Hatchett too, and Danny Joe Brown was so drunk he fell off the stage! It might have been the concert Pat Travers recorded for his live album he released. That’s when you really got a show for your money.. sometimes they were so wasted they sounded bad, but they were still totally awesome to watch, and you always got surprised at least once!!
@@Slipmahoney21 the live album wasn't recorded at that show. It was recorded in Austin,Miami and Gainesville January and February 1979. Pat Thrall said they didn't do any overdubs on the album and that's what they sounded like. The show you saw was probably pretty close to the album version minus the songs that didn't make it on the album. My first concert was Foghat and Eddie Money at the Cow Palace in Daily City Ca same year. Eddie was touring the debut album.
players; take notice, everytime you see a master live, pay attention! they are disappearing and they aren't making them anymore Long live PT and R&R...
Don't tell that to Marcus King, Billy Strings, Jared Nichols, Orianthi, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram, Jake Kiszka, Tyler Bryant, Samantha Fish, Sungha Jung or any of the dozens and dozens of amazing young guitar players ripping it up. I still love Pat though.
None, none of the people you just mentioned are even close or will have the impact or probably even be around anywhere near what Pat and the musicians of the greatest era of music have accomplished. Not that some are'nt talented or great players but people like Travers and Thrall invented and wrote the soundtrack to an are that will never be again. Copying the greats is not forging a style. Don't know how old you are but look back at early vids and you will see and hear things that no one can replicate. Pats early claims (on the album sleeves) was....No electronics, no synths, just amazing guitar work. Nope, no Marcus or Samantha or any of the others even come close. For talent here on YT....maybe Justin Johnson.
@@aintmanyofusleft I like Pat ,Puttin It Straight , Crash and Burn and Heat in the Street are some of my favs to this day. I'v seen him at least 15 or so times in the last 40 years and I have spent hours and hours learning his music. But Pat is not as influential as a guitarist, songwriter, performer as you think. For about 20 years he has played small clubs, often with less then 100 people. If he was such a major influence and has impacted blues rock music in such a major way, why are there not more guitar players from his generation going to his shows ? as apposed to some players like Billy Gibbons, Warren Haynes , Eric Clapton ,Jeff Beck, Carlos Santana, The late great Edward VanHalen. Technically Travers is a good solid player. As good as some players and not as good as others. I think it is awesome that Pat still plays 2 hour shows. (and frequently does) and maybe he has been over looked in some regards in guitar history but I'm just saying it the way I see it as music fan and a musician/guitar player for over half a century. And I think Pat Travers would do his music a solid if he went out with a second guitar player. Jerry Riggs lives in Orlando. I guess Pat can't pay him as well as Bobby Friss.
I agree totally that he has not been near as influential as many. I simply stated that he and guys like him we grew up with show a professionalism not seen as often today. Playing well and being a professional player and showman on stage is two different things, Pat has had the ability to do both even when he was young. Ricky Medlock is another....Charlie Starr it's a long list but they are getting old.......like me😳
Power trio rock and roll at its finest! This is where everybody should go when they're sick and tired of the "same old same old" being played on classic rock and top 40 radio. Dig out your old PT records and rock out!
My husband of 42yrs seen Pat Travers on itunes and said "hey babe check out Pat Travers, still going strong after all these years!" Wow! You go Pat! I'm still wowed after all this time.
First band I saw live back in the 70’s in London, Tommy Aldridge , Mars Cowling, Pat Thrall, this guy gave me a life long obsession with guitars and he still looks and sounds the same. Thank you Pat!
@@perfectlygoodslouch5212 March 1982. I was at a concert, to see the madman himself, Ozzy Osbourne! Does anyone else fantasize about a tour with Pat and the late Ronnie Montrose playing small venues all over America? Perhaps the two most influential straight ahead hard rockers of the 70s...
the POWER TRIO lives in 2021! Great to see PAT out playin! when i was a young teen, he was my guitar hero! late 70's. Great set list! opening w. ROCK N ROLL SUSIE.

Long time PT fan ... crash and burn on the guitar is so much better ... Pat is as good or better than ever by himself ...can't hear the bass ... will not miss him the next time he is in town
My first rock-n-roll concert was Pat Travers band in 1980 on the “Crash and burn” album tour. Pat travers on guitar and vocals, Pat Thrall on lead guitar, Peter Cowling on bass and Tommy Aldridge on drums…… The opening act was an up and coming band known as Def Leppard. A rainy spring evening at the Portland Coliseum ( Portland Oregon) it was time well wasted for a 15 year old kid like me. This video brings back many great memories. Thanks for posting!🎶🎶🎶
@Honky Tonk 65 Snortin' whiskey. What a high power song. A great album and has a couple candle songs at the end. I was born in '65 also, got to see the best of so many rock shows through the 80s. I'll never forget van halen opening for journey, (late 70s) and being so blown away from Eddies performance, we left in the middle of the 1st or 2nd Journey song.
I thought no one can match Mars . No one could do it with PT until he put up this Junior Power Trio. David is too good for plain Rock and Roll. Reminds me of young .Andy Fraser , you can play bass as a" solo" instrument on simple R&R!

Yup us too, Long Beach, CA. We would sometimes have a guy named Gary Van Dyke play bass. His funny "backstory" was he was in Quiet Riot, and told Dubrow off, with the big you suck, n this band is never going anywhere speech. His face was so animated as he would tell this story and then how they would drive by in their Porsches and Lamborghinis or whatever, ribbing him... He was really an astounding bass player, having taken in Gerald Johnson whenever he was back in town off of road gigs with Steve Miller or CSNY, trading Gerald a place to stay in exchange for bass lessons. We had nicknamed him Fifi LaKinque, in honor of his blonde curly hair, and milky white skin tone, that matched his only Bass, an early 60s P, with either a black, or more so I think it was tortoise shell pick guard. He played with God awful high action, and he would frequently lick his fingers between passages, either to combat dryness, or help slide with that awful action that Gerald pushed him toward, as he said that's where the good solid tone was. He learned his lessons well as he was like a mirror image of Gerald Johnson... Moving about on stage with that big smile that they both had and those animated motions that are a show on to themselves. Pure pocket Bass with interesting lines, and perfect little fills, thrown in at the right time so as not to step on anyone. Last we talked he was going for a job and security at Brown delivery? what is that UPS? I think. I hope he's still playing or handed down that gift to his kids, or.. Players like he, and Vernon Porter, Gerald Johnson, Brad Cummings, Bill Bieschke, they spoiled me... Man I went off on a tangent...oops... Good thing I didn't get into drummers...

that strat sounds great ,Pat not usually a strat guy but he does justice to it ! use to play his heat in the street 8 track over and over till it got to wobbly to play anymore great memories
I love Pat Travers......Studio version of Life in London STILL gives me goosebumps.....saying that, it hurts me to see what time has done to his ability to sing....."Sadder still to watch it die than never to have know it....for you the blind who once could see, the bell tolls for thee"- Losing it by Rush.
I saw Pat play here in Ottawa in 1976 just before his first album came out. I'd see him walk out and get in the car and head to "The Chaud" club where we'd stop to catch his show after Poutine.
It's been a while... I saw Pat Traverse on the heat on the street tour in Royal Oak Michigan at the Royal Oak music theater in 1978.. Then I saw him 2 more times in 1979 warming up for a Rush.. Mars Cowlings , Tommy Aldridge and Pat Thrall... I wish I could go back to those times . I still got all my ticket stubs

First saw him in East St. Louis in '88 ,than again in Daytona for Bike week at Dirty Harry's in '93-'94, kick ass all the way
Happy birthay Pat, soixante dix printemps le 12 avril 2024 , kisses and long long life
Pay travers was my first concert, opened for Blackmore's rainbow. 81 crash n burn tour.
PT rocks!! I've seen him dozens of times, mostly at BRASSY'S NIGHTCLUB in Cocoa Beach, FL!~ ALWAYS a KILLER show!!
They just killed it! What a band chemistry!... Amazing!
Awesome show in St. Louis! Got to meet Pat and David and they were both super nice and accommodating. I love small venues!
that strat sounds great ,Pat not usually a strat guy but he does justice to it ! use to play his heat in the street 8 track over and over till it got to wobbly to play anymore great memories
Nice to see Pat still out, playing wonderful Rock n' Roll! Very underrated but, super appreciated! Excellent sounds!!!
I wish I could go back to those times
. I still got all my ticket stubs
Still got it! The most under rated, under appreciated guitar player ever. Come home to Canada for a few gigs Pat!
Thanks for your Inspiration Pat, and Thank you for the person who uploaded this concert on RUclips, Great Camera and Audio work my Friend!
This was great. Pat Travers's first two (s/t and Makin' Magic) are my all-time favorite albums. Awesome records!!
