All these years later and your review sealed the deal for me. 6 children and three adults for a total of 9. I'm 6'8 and my son the only boy is 6'3 at 15 and this van is perfect. Salute and blessings to you brother 🙏🏽🙌🏽
Thank you for sharing this. We have 11 children, all adopted, and we are struggling to find something that could work. I love how you point out some of the good features. We will look for those.
Mr. Pollock, thank you! Your video convinced my wife she didn't really want a minivan, and we bought a 2015 Transit Wagon 350 XLT, today. From your video to my driveway: three days. Our trade-in van was an E-150 to which we added 115K miles over 8 years, so this one should be with us for a decade or more.
I wanted a great overall look at the Ford Transit Wagon and you guys did a great job covering what I wanted to know about the vehicle. It was really nice that you involved your entire family with the review. 7 Kids wow, you and your wife are very blessed.
+Brian Michael agreed. If you want a decent review, just ask a decent honest family, rather than someone trying to sell a vehicle. I was surprised about the design flaw on time line 2:45
We have eight boys and have been searching for a van to accommodate us and out stuff for a long cross country trip this summer (2016) and this fan will absolutely work. Thank You for sharing

Your whole family is strangely good at videography - especially your wife. She was always focused on the relevant thing and no jerky motions at all. Nice work, and nice video. Thanks for putting this together. Very informative!
We also have seven kids, and I've discovered they grow as well. We went from a mini van to a Durango to an excursion, now this is looking like a life saver. Thanks for the review
Thank you so much! We're a family of 7 and you're so right, there is not a lot of info out there about using large vans for families! You answered all my questions. :)
Great video! We just purchased a used one of these for our large family (5 kids - 3 boys, 2 girls). I found it interesting that you have a Micah, Isaac, and Caleb, which are the names of our 3 boys!
Pollock family, we just bought ours and I found your review after buying ours. We went with the medium roof and sliding door. I wanted to let you know that you can stream from your Bluetooth device but there is a small catch. Only the primary device can stream the audio and the only way I've been able to get it to do it is by voice command. In the owners manual you'll find a section about voice commands and it's listed first. It took a couple tries my first time but it does work. And just an FYI, for anyone wanting one in the Kansas City area, they've got several and the plant is right here in KC which makes ordering them way easy!
Expecting 6th this year. Looking at one of these big guys. The non sliding side doors might be deal breaker for us. I could just see one of our boys denting the crap out of a car next to us.
Great review Chris. I am a vehicle development engineer in a car company in Brazil and I would say that your/your kids review was very good and very detailed. Useful for those planing to buy or rent one of these vehicles.
awesome video! my daughter who just turned 6 found your kiddo playing peekaboo hysterical!! she kept rewinding the video so she can see him pop up when you were in the drivers seat! we have 4 but will have 5 before long and we were trying to decide between a ford transit and a suburban. Thanks for helping!!
This is awesome! We have 10 children and have been looking into getting one of these. It’s very hard to find family reviews on these types of vehicles.Thank you for all the information. 😁
Thanks for sharing this video on the ford transit wagon. I totally get it, we have 5 children, and they are getting bigger. With lots more stuff. We currently drive a 2001 Ford Expedition with 150,000 miles on it, and things are really tight inside. I wanted the suburban for the longest time but we just can't pay $60,000! So I test drive the transit just last week (12 passenger) and LOVED. LOVED it!! We are getting a black one with tinted windows... I can't wait! Your kids are to cute BTW!! Enjoy your van and drive safe 👊🏻🙏🏻
Holly Thomson & Chris Pollock Great review indeed. Expecting number 10 in June. This help so much to look for a bigger vehicle from my 9 passenger. Thank goodness husband have a car for more room, but will love to get this for everyone to fit together.
A Cup of Tea you do realize the world is only big enough for a limited amount of people,it’s not stretching, resources are running out, essentially these kids are the ones who are going to suffer in the long run, think about it for a second
I just found this. Bought our 2015 12 passenger a few days ago. So far, I love it. We have 6 kids with significant disabilities, so teens plus adaptive strollers (like a wheelchair but looks like a stroller). We did buy the 60/40 door. The step down is a bit of a problem for my kids but I found an aftermarket running board. My friend bought the same van over the summer with the high top. Their running boards are too narrow. We did remove the single seat next to the door. The second row of seats (two rows behind the drivers seat) is short on leg room. We don't really need that one, and it allows for easier access to the rear seat for my kids who have physical challenges. We LOVE LOVE LOVE all the space in the back. I (mom) am primary driver and really like how this vehicle handles. It surprisingly drives like a car. I did take it to an empty church parking lot to practice parking. ;-) The back up camera makes me nauseous but I'm trying to get used to it. I never EVER used it in my Sienna. I am missing having the center console, but at the same time I get get to the back without getting out of the vehicle. There is a LACK of cup holders in the back!!! Our first McDonalds experience was an issue. LOL The only thing I'm really worried about is the fact I'm in MN. So far we're having an insanely easy winter, but snow is coming. I don't remember the last time I drove a rear-wheel drive in the snow, so this will be very interesting.
If you want to find where the wind noise is coming from, use painters tap on the seams around the doors and ducts. Then see if it goes away. You will have found the culprit and maybe a fix fashioned. I find most are around the door jams at the bottom and front.
I have a 12 passenger transit as well. What you can do to alleviate the sunlight through the windshield since it's so big is to have the very top tinted. It helps a lot when you're driving with the sun in your eyes. Make sure that you check your local laws to make sure that they allow it.
We are also from Rochester but left Ny for a better life down here on a nice big farm in Tennessee. We are looking at this year vehicle and wanted to know if you STILL feel the same way a few years later down the road. Did you have any issues with motor, transmission, etc, in a few years wear and tear?
Thanks so much for this video. We are expecting our 7th and this was so helpful. You're right -- it is very hard to get any information about this, even from the Ford people.
Chris (and wife camera person?) ... we just bought a used 2015 15 passenger transit, but without the rear camera and backup sensor option (which we would have really liked). WE loved meeting all your handsome boys. One of our grandsons is a Caleb and another is Micah. We did not hear the low noise rumbling like I heard on your vehicle. We were pleased with the quietness of our Flex (before we totaled it), but were surprised at how quiet the Transit was, especially after our Ford E150 cargo van. We're fans of Tom Holzer Ford in Farmington HIlls, MI.
Hi from Atlanta, Pollock Family! Thank you for the review. Very helpful. Trying to get husband to move to this. We have 6 kids and we ALSO have an Oliver and a Simon!! God bless you all.
Chris, great video! Thanks for making it. Ford should pay you for doing a better job than the dealer did today for me. They were ZERO help. You were excellent! I will be getting one now!
Thanks for the video. We are thinking about renting one for a road trip. You answered my questions on if it would be a good choice for 8 adults and bags. It seems perfect for us.
I have the same van but in a 12 passenger. I added a third party console for $79 and mounted it in between the front seats. I now have 4 more drink holders and extra rear 12v power outlets. The stock small console is really not big enough. I also went to Sam's and got interlocking 1/4 inch foam panels to cover all of the carpets. i also recommend getting one with running boards. Overall, this is a great van.
I will be renting one to drive my family and my brother's family to Disney (four adults, three kids), but we would get the smaller version. I have been worried about it but after watching your video I am a bit relieved.
Thanks for posting this! We have a 2015 Transit 350 with 52,000 miles on it now, and so far it has been great. I would definitely recommend the sliding door option if you have kids in car seats- when you're parked next to another car, it can be difficult to remove the car seat with the swing-out type doors. Also, with young kids, they tend to "fling" the doors open and damage vehicles parked next to them. We get 16.5 mpg around town and over 19 mpg on the highway. These vans can be picked up used in the $23-27,000 range with low miles. My only regret is getting a 12 passenger instead of the 15. Our kids are getting older, so I didn't think we'd need all the seats- but I was wrong. Power is less than our 2009 Chevy Express, but then we only got about 11 mpg in the Chevy. I'll give up a few ponies for the huge increase in fuel economy! If you really want more, you can always go with the twin turbo Eco Boost engine.
I bought be of these (2016 Transit 350 XLT), identical to this one, used (1 1/2 year old) that just came off lease for 25k. It's a wonderful van that hasn't quite caught on yet .. it beats the pants off any Suburban/Yukon type of vehicle .. took some of the seats out that were not needed. FYI, the "standard" factory radio that came with it, could not be upgraded to a Sync 3 without enormous $. A Pioneer NEX, with iMeastro interface and SiriusXM option, with Metra mounting system works Great! In this van.
Thx for the review. I personally suggest tinting the windows -- especially the front windows. Having the front windshield top 3-6 inches tinted makes a HUGE difference in driving safety for me. I don't have to use the sun visor as much and it acts like wearing sunglasses (which I do already). I'm in HI and had my Subaru tinted out and it's wonderful: greater privacy, less heat in Summer, protects eyes from UV (99% UVA UVB rejection), etc. The bottom 90% of my front windshield is also tinted 70% transmission rate and reduces the heat by 50%. Thx. again for the review.
We're looking to rent one of these to go on a out of state trip and this was very informative. Im glad to know we'll have enough room for everyone and our luggage =)
You should be able to bluetooth stream music from your phone, I have a '14 Escape with Sync. After your phone is linked, tap the media button, then look for a button that says BT. Our Escape has the same screen/ radio package you guys have. On ours BT is on the bottom of the screen, we have these little 'bumper' buttons that tip left or right that don't have any labels on them directly, but perform the actions labeled on the bottom of the screen. Selecting BT (Bluetooth) will let your music play over the stereo. Try this out, if you can't figure it out let me know, I can post a video of me doing it. Not sure if the button layout in the Transit is the same, so your procedure may vary slightly.
White is my all time favorite color for all my vehicles...especially for pickup trucks and vans. Your white van looks specular! The only thing I would do is to add a set of factory alloy wheels. If they offered a turbo diesel option I would definitely take it. In something like a large family van a turbo diesel can increase the fuel economy by as much as 70%.
I bought one yesturday. Traded in my Transit Connect for this XLT 350. Its dream to drive and it does take getting used to since you cannot use the center rear mirror to see. My seat arangement is alot different than yours but I will be removing some seats. I have 3 boys.
for safety when backing up, I suggest rolling down the window a little so you can hear better your environment around the van -- and turning the radio off of course.
Good review! We have one and you covered it very well.. One thing I would add is that the single seats on the left (facing the back) are smaller than the other seats. I also, so wish we could make the 5th row a 4 seater as well making it a 12 seater with the whole back space as cargo. I may should have bought a 12 seater for that, but had the misunderstanding that we could arrange the seats however we wanted. Great job!
Thank you so much for this video. Thank you for having the car seats in because we have 2 reverse facing, 2 in forward facing and 3 in boosters and us adults are both over 6 ft tall.
Chris - thanks again for posting this. We bought our large-family-mover Transit 350 last week, partly because of your information shared in the video. I may post a response to your video on RUclips in next few weeks as well. Great ride so far. We did end up with a 12-pass, do you know/have you heard if anyone has added the additional seats to the back of a 12 to increase capacity?
+David R Chapdelaine I don't know if anyone has, but you can check out the Little Passenger seat company. I had some seats from them for my Suburban. I'll let your dealer know where to send the commission check :)
Very nice video! I just purchased the 2018 Transit 350HD. I absolutely love it! Only complaint I have is no armrest on passenger front seat. Other than that it’s great. I am 6’ 1” and have to reach up to touch the roof. Loving it!
Good review, Chris. Good info to have since we don't expect to be out of the van market any time soon. A few questions. You're 6 feet tall. Can your older sons see over the dash board sufficiently, if he were to drive it? (I'm thinking 5 feet tall). That is our biggest beef with the older Ford design. Also, economics: Nobody drives a van for great gas mileage, but what kind of MPG are you experiencing? What was the 'out the door' price, if you don't mind me asking? Can it be maintained (serviced) locally? Or do you need to take it to Avon? (Given the sales staff aren't up on these vans, would their service people be?) Vents-do the people in the back get adequate heat and ac? Do the windows in the back open? What about the flooring? Vinyl, carpet, other? Seat comfort-especially on longer drives? Seat covering, leather, vinyl, clothe? Thanks again for the tour.
I liked your video, including your kids was a nice touch. I wish they would have an awd or front wheel drive version, there is an option for a limited slip differential which might help in slippery conditions. I would still buy one but not white. In Europe and other countries they have awd, fwd versions. It can also be equipped with a 6 speed manual, I would love it!
Hit the little talking head on the steering wheel and say "bluetooth audio" That's how you get your iphone audio to work via blue tooth. We have a 12 passenger and love it!
Thank you so much for this video!!! We are in search of a new vehicle that will accommodate 5 kids and possibly 4 adults. Quick question...all of my kids are in car seats...do all the seats have the anchors for the latch system?
God Bless you your wife and family. lots of luck with your new car. me and my husband are just looking into the same one. if you can please tell me how it on gas.:)
Transit vans have been made for the UK and Europe plus Australia and New Zealand market for over 50 years . Originally made for commercial use and popular as a Tradesman Van with Electricians , Plumbers etc , have found popularity as base vehicles for camper van manufacturers and the self-build camper fraternity . You will find information on Ford UK, AU and NZ websites as well as Wikipedia and RUclips . :)
Thank you so much for doing this review. We are looking to get get a bigger van and you did a great job. This is the best I've seen so far. I love how's it's a family point of view instead of the dealerships. I had a question does the passengers in the back get cup holders?
thanks for your video, I ended up with a Used 2018 Mid roof Transit 150. It too is in white. I will be taking out most of the seats in the rear as I will be installing a wheelchair lift with Automatic tie down system. so if anyone needs some more seats I will have a few. Mine is a 10 Passenger. but will end up only keeping maybe just the rear bench seat. so far this is a great van.
..woah...youve got your little own army there,,, well im trying to get this as the cargo version and turn it into a "portable machines shop" with a small lathe inside... wondering how does she go..
This is exactly the video I was looking for. I’m 95% sure we are getting the transit 15 passenger. Love how you set the seats up. What engine did you get? Could you tell me the exact style you got and what features other than the larger screen you wished you had. We are thinking about getting the roof that is in the middle between the shortest and tallest.
Think of the interior as a cavity. The rumbling occurring at different speeds are resonances that you can hear at certain road vibrations. Resonances can also have harmonics and you may hear variation of frequency of the vibrations. It is a natural result between the interior cavity and the road vibrations.
It's nice that ford put the seats on both sides of the vehicle. All the other 15 passenger vans roll over a lot because all the seats are offset to one side.
wow the stuff people come up with. Rollover were due to high center of gravity, and the how much the body extended beyond the rear axle. The old dodge vans were the worst for that.
The "offset" seats are actually pretty central to the vans centre line so won't cause much of a problem. You have to remember that these things can take just over a ton of weight so you need some seriously fat people to effect them.
Chris, I cannot thank you enough for this video. I'm a father of six, and we're trying to do research, but as you say, no one seems to be very knowledgeable or willing to help us. This is incredibly helpful. Can you tell me what are the dimensions of the trunk space if you only have 12 seats in? It seems from the video that it is at least 2 feet deep, but it is hard to tell. Thanks in advance!
Hey father, we just got the 12, it's a little deeper than 2 feet without those rear seats. Also, if you find the 15, I say go for it...and then just remove the seats for trunk space...then you can add them later.
Thank you for making this video. It was very helpful and informative. Also good to hear of your good experience at the dealership since we're in Rochester :) Thanks!
Pollock Family, The Medina Family in Seguin, TX really enjoyed watching your Ford Transit video. We are a family of 8 (5 boys 1 Girl). We are really considering buying one of these. All the Pollock boys were great actors and commentators in the video. I especially like the one that was hiding in the back seat and then popped up. Great job everyone. Very informative. We do have a question about the stereo and how it works and sounds if you plug iPad or Iphones to it. Are there any headphone jacks or charging stations in the back? Also how is the gas Milage? Thanks again for making a great video - The Medinas
+Adam Medina Hi Adam, Yes, the ipad and iphone work when you plug into it. It has USB and a headphone jack. The sync system is voice activated. A little confusing, but I'm hoping to dig into it more. I'm getting about 14/15 MPG. Better on the highway obviously. See my followup video for more details. ruclips.net/video/zjqGNvoEUJk/видео.html
just experienced salesman ignorance today. we are looking for a 2015 - 12 passenger transit and we knew more about the features and details of the van than he did.
Thanks for the review, the buffering noise should be coming from your rear air outlet cause it travels under the van. 7 boys Wow I don't know what it is with Rochester cause my niece is there and she has 4 girls now and she is under 30 yrs old..... :-/
Chris Pollock I am sure you can add insulate to the base conduct. Its a damping silver reflected material. And maybe not as good but aluminum foil tape to seal any cracks along the conduit.
Nice! Thanks for the review. I love your big family and big car. It's driving me crazy that I can't find any search-engine for used cars that lets me specify the number of passenger capacity required (8+) .
Just try and look for any full sized vans. Anything car related isn't going to be in the criteria you want. I'm sure you'll find minibuses among the industrial cargo vans.
thanks for posting this. I just bought one and couldn't be happier but the only thing is that I hear a whining noise almost like a power steering pump but it's not. I think I can I can hear the same kind of noise on your video, someone said it could be the way they are made. do you hear a winning noise at all? thanks again
I am looking to buy one this week. I'm trying to get the options that I want at the best price. I have talked to several dealerships and many still don't know much about them. So when I saw your video, it answered my questions. One question, do you still like it? Thanks so much!
We removed the entire back row and built a deck with a "trunk" storage drawer on the left and a fold up on the right so we can still slide large items into the aisle.
for Bluetooth audio, try pressing the voice command button while your phone is connected and jus say "Bluetooth Audio" then say "play" and it should work (it does in all Fords that have sync). there is no other easy way to do it!
All these years later and your review sealed the deal for me. 6 children and three adults for a total of 9. I'm 6'8 and my son the only boy is 6'3 at 15 and this van is perfect. Salute and blessings to you brother 🙏🏽🙌🏽

Right.. yeah, I wish people had stuff like this when I was looking, that's why I did it!

Well done Chris. I learned alot more from your video than talking with anyone at dealers or exploring Ford's confusion website. Thanks so much !
You're our kind of family. We bought a slightly different model today. Will be sure to show you guys. Thanks for the review.

Your kids are adorable! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this review--extremely helpful!
Me and me wife are gonna need one here soon our boy is in a wheel chair. Plus three other kids.
Thank you so much! I have 4 kids but I nanny 2 extra! We are in the market for the 12 passenger van. This video is very honest and helpful!
Have more kids! We need more large families!
mazzmari yeah, and the rest of us will be paying for them, great idea!!!
@@Evil_Morty2000 This family doesn't look like anyone else pays for their kids
Adam William trust me we all do! And our kids will be too!
Do feel like the sliding door is holding up under the abuse, I know that was a concern that we had.
I love a big family. 😊😊😊 thanks for doing this video. I have to drive for a family trip and the ford transit wagon is a must.
On our 6th and we are looking for something.. your video was just was I was looking for! A family perspective. Great video.
Adorable family...thx gor the review..I have 6kids and we are a tall family...this will be our next family vehicle.
We're looking to rent one of these to go on a out of state trip and this was very informative. Im glad to know we'll have enough room for everyone and our luggage =)
Thank you for this review! We were on the fence about getting a Transit and this helped a lot! We picked ours up today and we love it!
+ajabelly That's great... I should ask your dealer for a commission :)
I have the same van and get the same air buffering sensation. Love the van and it’s soooo easy to clean!
+89Hols Yeah we finally figured it out.
Thank you for the walk through on the Ford Transit. Ford should take note of your review to improve next years model.
Great job!
great video I have 5 boys.
Thank you so much for this video. Thank you for having the car seats in because we have 2 reverse facing, 2 in forward facing and 3 in boosters and us adults are both over 6 ft tall.
Thank you for this video. I have been doing a bunch of research on these vehicles. We are looking to get one really really soon for our 8 kids.
great video. we're thinking about getting this for our family of 8. thanks!
Also, ours is silver!
This was such a helpful video! Thank you for making and posting this! (We are expecting baby #7 in March.)
Amber Peterson
Alright; large family rock. Yes, video helped indeed. Expecting number 10.
Thank you so much for this video!!! We are in search of a new vehicle that will accommodate 5 kids and possibly 4 adults. Quick question...all of my kids are in car seats...do all the seats have the anchors for the latch system?
Not all the seats, but many.
you need that intercom system like Toyota has in the Sienna
God Bless you your wife and family. lots of luck with your new car. me and my husband are just looking into the same one. if you can please tell me how it on gas.:)
i'm. useing my husband's. ipad. my name is Debra. :)
Sorry for the late reply, about 15-20 MPG
Excellent video! Very informative. Thanks. Looking for something like this for my big family too
Good review and also the video where you answered questions. I am planning now to rent one for a trip with 8 people.
Good review of the van. We're most likely going to need one of these next year and I like the Transit over the others. Thanks!
A friend of ours just borrowed our for 5 months when we were in England and they ended up buying one for themselves.
I had a question does the passengers in the back get cup holders?
maybe I'm wrong but when you press the media button on dashboard it should stream from your phone through bluetooth.
thanks for your video, I ended up with a Used 2018 Mid roof Transit 150. It too is in white. I will be taking out most of the seats in the rear as I will be installing a wheelchair lift with Automatic tie down system. so if anyone needs some more seats I will have a few. Mine is a 10 Passenger. but will end up only keeping maybe just the rear bench seat. so far this is a great van.
..woah...youve got your little own army there,,,
well
im trying to get this as the cargo version
and turn it into a "portable machines shop" with a small lathe inside...
wondering how does she go..
Yeah, that sound right
This is my next Taxi Vehicle. I love the features
Hi there, great video . quick question on fuel consumption and the price of the van .....thank you
Pollock Family, The Medina Family in Seguin, TX really enjoyed watching your Ford Transit video. Thanks again for making a great video
- The Medinas
+Adam Medina Hi Adam, Yes, the ipad and iphone work when you plug into it. It has USB and a headphone jack. The sync system is voice activated. A little confusing, but I'm hoping to dig into it more.
I'm getting about 14/15 MPG. Better on the highway obviously. See my followup video for more details. ruclips.net/video/zjqGNvoEUJk/видео.html
+Adam Medina Oh, and not headphone jacks in the back. I think there may be an 12 V adapter back there, but I'm not sure where it is.
just experienced salesman ignorance today. we are looking for a 2015 - 12 passenger transit and we knew more about the features and details of the van than he did.
Hi Chris. Great review. Thank you. How does it handle in the winter for you when the roads are snow covered or icey? Kendall
Finally a review that I like
good review. special order to get the options you want
Thanks for the review, the buffering noise should be coming from your rear air outlet cause it travels under the van. 7 boys Wow I don't know what it is with Rochester cause my niece is there and she has 4 girls now and she is under 30 yrs old..... :-/
+Stephen Bradley Is there a way to test for this and fix it?
Chris Pollock I am sure you can add insulate to the base conduct. Its a damping silver reflected material. And maybe not as good but aluminum foil tape to seal any cracks along the conduit.
Great review, very helpful. We are looking at buying a Transit. Any issues with maintenance thus far?
Nice! Thanks for the review. I love your big family and big car. It's driving me crazy that I can't find any search-engine for used cars that lets me specify the number of passenger capacity required (8+) .
Just try and look for any full sized vans. Anything car related isn't going to be in the criteria you want. I'm sure you'll find minibuses among the industrial cargo vans.
www.cargurus.com I love it
thanks for posting this. I just bought one and couldn't be happier but the only thing is that I hear a whining noise almost like a power steering pump but it's not. I think I can I can hear the same kind of noise on your video, someone said it could be the way they are made. do you hear a winning noise at all? thanks again
Chris, I use 15 passenger van videos on RUclips to help me sleep at night as my white noise.
It's very nice. what type of driver's licence will be needed to drive this van?
I am looking to buy one this week. I'm trying to get the options that I want at the best price. I have talked to several dealerships and many still don't know much about them. So when I saw your video, it answered my questions. One question, do you still like it? Thanks so much!
We removed the entire back row and built a deck with a "trunk" storage drawer on the left and a fold up on the right so we can still slide large items into the aisle.
Interesting, got pictures to share?
Very helpful in the optional seat removal for a long trip i have coming up...... thank you!
Thanks for the review. Been looking at this and the Nissan NV passenger. Did you ever had a chance to test drive the Nissan and any thoughts on it?
for Bluetooth audio, try pressing the voice command button while your phone is connected and jus say "Bluetooth Audio" then say "play" and it should work (it does in all Fords that have sync). there is no other easy way to do it!
Thank you for your informative video. Have you figured out the highway MPG?
Thank you.
Vincent
+Vincent Lampariello It's around 14/15
