What he's doing is panning the sound in between channels, making it sound like its around your head. This is a legitimate technic, but its also a simple one done in software like Abelton, and probably takes more time rendering than actually doing it. For sure this ain't suround sound as RUclips doesn't support it. Also, RUclips is full of compression so this is also shit quality sound, not that that's his fault, but you're probably listening to this on apple earphones so it doesn't matter
