Depending on the amount of people you have in the band, there are always multitracks to fill out that "Bethel" sound. Obviously a basic band (drum, keyboard, bass, guitar, vocalist) has to be there, but those take the weight off of filling out things like percussion, synth/aux, strings, electric guitars, etc.
There are plenty of talented and gifted performers but that's not what the church platform needs! I have seen many great musicians and artists destroyed from the good old buddy selection process for worship! I love the new talent but it concerns me when seeing excellent (extremely talented) musicians/singers being pushed out and replaced with those under 30 years!
Probably one of two reasons. 1, most of the people in that room are established leaders or members, so they are representing a church that they are already part of the ministry of. So it's the "good becoming better" deal. It would be cool if the entire worship team went to the school, but it might get expensive. 2. Many people in the church are good musicians, but they either dont think they are good enough to be up on stage, or they just don't want to be up there. Some thing leaders can do to combat this is have like a "play along with the worship team" and get people warmed up to the idea that they can play in front of people, and probably kill it on stage one day.
got an idea the ones who don't make it there send them out in groups to small church's who have few this ain't American Idol sweety Leonard Jones travels worldwide training worship teams take shot at that
