Thank you! Much appreciated. 50,000 km and the button broke, not acceptable but at least there are people like you to help us figure it out and get it fixed.
Thank you for this! My daughters’ broke this weekend. Your video gave me the knowledge to get the car home!👍🏻 It is now a known “issue”and our dealer fixed it for free.
Just helped my Sister-in-law replace the broken shift button on her 2017. Took 40 minutes. Got the big pieces out and the new button installed. It would not shift into park. Got a flashlight & looked inside, everything looked clear. Reassembled, still wouldn’t go into park. Got small flat-blade “jewelers” screwdriver & ran it down the tracks the button slides on. Came out with 4 or 5 very small pieces of plastic from the old button that had shattered and were stuck in the lubricating grease. These small pieces were keeping the shifter from moving all the way to a position that allowed the shift lever to go into park. So check everywhere for very small loose pieces of plastic. This is a terrible design for a critical function on a fairly new vehicle! Also, some videos showing how to replace this button do not unscrew & remove the entire shift handle, they just pull out the old, broken button and push in the new one. If you do that, you risk leaving very small broken pieces inside, which may break the new button, or fall into a place which disables the shifter. Removing the handle and cleaning out all the broken pieces is the only way to be sure the shifter will continue to function properly. Thanks for the video showing the correct way to replace this shift lever button!
I usually don’t comment but wanted to thank you for this incredible video. Should be a reference for anyone needing to change this part.
Thanks for the kind words! I am glad I could help, and I appreciate you watching my video!!

This is a free Product Update repair (in Canada) for 2017-2018 CR-Vs. Campaign No N95.
How has it been so far for your wife? I’m looking at purchasing a 2017 exl this week.
The CRV is a nice vehicle, however I have read the 1.5L turbo engine has some cylinder wash down issues.
Took about 20 minutes to do. 2 minutes for the actual work and 18 minutes to clean up the 100 peices of tiny broken plastic.

Hello I followed your video but I've got an issue, the shifter can't go to P or L and idk why... could u help me with this?
Vehicle might have to be on to get the shifter there. Once there shut it off but leave it in P or L
@@pourindiesel okay I just figured out. Thanks!
Nice video, thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Sorry to hear your predicament. U should had got it replace under warranty. It is a common problem with CR-V's
Thanks for commenting! I agree they will replace under warranty, but that will take a whole day. This can be done in 10 minutes at home.
@@pourindiesel Welcome! Few batches were affected by this defect except mine. Thank god. I think Honda managed to resolve it last year.
HOW ABOUT HAVING A PUSH KNOB MADE OF BILLET ALUMINUM INSTEAD OF REINSTALLING PLASTIC PIECES EVERY TIME???
yeah I agree, bad quality polymer. Good thing the replacement is only 8 dollars on ebay or Amazon.
if the knob is the only broken part, you can order the knob and just replace it..no need to disassembly like in the video.
