    We’re moving forward the OpenHD project to h265 encoding/decoding with the Jetson Nano 2GB as an Air unit and NCB00 carrier board. The CM4 is capable of decoding h265 and with ochin will be the perfect combo for a goggles module!

      @WX4CB 3 года назад +1

      nice, but the jetson nano is pretty big isnt it. the dev kit is like 10cm square

    • @mariofpv
      @mariofpv 3 года назад +2

      @@WX4CB there is another carrier board with dimensions 85x50mm. Also we are developing a completely new AIO OpenHD board that will have similar technical specs with Jetson Mano. But until the OpenHD hardware is ready we’re continuing the development on the Jetson nano.

    Hello just checking to see if you are still working on OpenHD build and your progress

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  2 года назад +1

      Yes - we've been trying to get a working config for a while now with the Ochin board but I've run into a few issues, a h/w issue and then the GPS loosing signal as soon as the Open.HD side was powered up. It's still not fully resolved - but once I eventually get to the field and fly something I'll bring you up to date on what I've been doing

    Would have been useful to explain what Open.HD is and why you would use it. I have used Evos over the last 3 or 4 years (I still have 2) and on hot days ESC cooling can be an issue. I simply add a 3D printed grid which fits into the lid and problem solved.

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  3 года назад

      Good point - I've added a link to my playlist of previous Open.HD stuff (including initial explanations) as a card and in the description. I like the grid idea, I may do that

  • @stevefox3763

    interesting, i have just ordered something very similar but based on the 3B which is called the 3B mini and sports the same quad core 1.2ghz cpu and 1gb ram of the 3B but in a stripped down board layout and weighs the same as a Pi Zero!
    A 4b is a more powerful board but seeing as the zero manages, the 3b mini with four cores instead of the zeros one which are also faster plus double the ram of the zero should make it more than good enough and it has two data enabled USB headers vs the zeros one usb which could be used for on craft diversity but im hoping i can use one for a usb cam and use the csi for another cam and switch between them like you can on the 4B

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  3 года назад

      That sounds interesting Steve - I've not come across that one on my browsing. There is talk about using h.265 compression which is where the 4 will have an advantage, but I'm not sure what this does to the picture quality/latency at the moment

    • @stevefox3763
      @stevefox3763 3 года назад

      @@CurryKitten in the comments you have been talking to a user called Mario FPV, go to his channel and you will find a video called introducing 3B mini running OpenHD, he is how i found out about it.
      I paid £25 for mine on Aliexpress, same 9g as the Zero but a quad 1.2ghz and 1gb ram.
      Shame they have no hdmi, they would be a candidate for a ultra small and portable ground pi on a TX mounted screen if they had that but they are perfect for the air pi!

    Excellent....... what's the latency of Ohd?

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  3 года назад

      Should be the same as using regular Pi's - so 100-150ms

    • @jotham123
      @jotham123 3 года назад +1

      @@gmivisualsjason3729 Yes, a Jetson nano board greatly reduces it, atm theres some new stuff going in development which is still secret but supposedly it is really quiet good with a lot of speedup with the new board, better code, and a more sophisticated encoding algorithm (h265)

    Do can this board use camera digital DJI (runcam)?

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  3 года назад

      Nope. There was talk of the interfaces being similar, but it needs either specific cameras for the PI's, or you can use an HDMI to CSI convertor and take HDMI from and HD camera

    Great project Wayne, interested to see how this works for you.
    Please don't put it in that horrific wing...lol...Put it in something you know works instead...🤔😳🤨🇬🇧

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  3 года назад +1

      What's up with that wing!? The trouble with putting this in something that already flies is that it can be harder to stick a new thing in post-build that planning around it adequately in the first place. I'm very much learning this with the Open.HD Quad build

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines 3 года назад

      @@CurryKitten Oh, you're doing an Open HD quad as well...?....I'd stick with just the quad. Winters coming, it will be easier as a test bed for sure than that awful wing...🤔😳🤨🇬🇧

    • @CurryKitten
      @CurryKitten  3 года назад +1

      You'll have to tell me what you have against the Falcon Evo... it sounds personal :D I flew the original Falcon wing probably more and any other and I've crashed it, exploded it into foamy shards and it's still flying. In theory Open.HD works better in fixed wing as the latency isn't as important. But I'll be doing two Open.HD builds. The Pi Zero in a quad and the CM4 in this lovely wing :-P

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines 3 года назад

      @@CurryKitten Well, it has a nice deep bay for the gear, so I can see the appeal. It's just that these wings never fly well IMO, but I look forward to you proving me wrong..🤔😳😀
