I guarantee you East Side High school has mostly black teachers teaching their black students, which explains the higher test scores. Historically black students did better back when schools were segregated and the teachers were of the same ethnicity as their students, mainly because they actually learned true History, English, Home Ec and the contents of the aptitude tests were of familiarity. I’m speaking from personal experience, I’ve attended many high schools and colleges in the southeast and I know for a fact that not all teachers are dedicated and (sometimes) young black men and women have to work twice as hard in life as their white counterparts for equal pay. Now I’m not saying that all white teachers are bad and all black teachers are good, however I have noticed the elephant in the room. #staywoke America.
