- In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to do ICM photography. ICM photography is not that common but it has been around for years and is achieved by deliberately moving the camera during your exposure. In this video, I’ll tell you some tips, techniques and the camera settings you’ll need to create intentional camera movement shots. This will be a great tutorial for anyone who wants to use ICM techniques to create this abstract look.

Tremendous tutorial made things far easier to comprehend.
Glad it helped 👍😊
Really like the idea of using the hood as a pivot point‼️✌️🇦🇺
Your video clarified the technique for me. Thank you.
You're welcome 👍
Just discovered you on here and am loving the tutorials. Thanks!
You're welcome 👍
Great tutorial!! I appreciate how quickly you got to it and showed us how to do it.
Thanks 😊
Another cool tutorial here Marc! You're awesome! Very hands on.
Thanks for the comments, appreciate that 👍
I just love the way you speak! It’s the accent lol 😆 And I’ve found that while reading your book, I hear it in my head the way you say it lol
Ha, thanks 😊
Cool idea :) must try it sometime. Great video as always Marc!
Thanks 👍
Never heard of this before, definitely something I'll be trying out
Good luck with it 👍
Pretty good. You can always give yourself more time for a steady shot by adding an ND filter.
Thanks Bob 👍
Pivoting with the lens hood is a smart idea. Nice images that I’m looking forward to trying.
Thanks Jim 👍
Interesting video. New type of method I have seen here. More creativity. Nice video.
Thanks, glad you liked it 👍

Nice and simple. I like that you're using shutter speed mode instead of Manual!
Glad it was helpful Vicki 👍
Excellent tutorial
Thanks Suhail 👍
Love it, I will try it tomorrow
Hope you enjoy
Have never heard that term before - but it's a common thing heard - anyways, cool shots man - have a nice weekend
Yeah that's what I thought. Someone, somewhere has just put a name to it I think. Thanks for watching, glad you liked it 👍
Thank you! Very informative!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for a real nice video :-)
You're welcome 👍
This almost looks like one can do on Affinity photo ie motion blur, gaucean blur etc. But is cool too see it done in the field
Great, very inspirational ...
Thanks Libor 👍
gooooooooooooooood!!!!! Thank you
Glad you like it!
very very interesting session sir. excellent work
Many thanks!
Really nice one! I will try it! What focal lengths tend to work well? Other than the 50mm you used.
They all work really, just experiement. Good luck 👍
I could imagine a wider lens (28mm full frame equivalent for instance) being a little bit easier to use handheld, because the motion might appear a bit straighter. But I've seen some really stunning ICM pictures with 50mm and longer lenses too. You might just want a little less motion on a longer lens, because a longer focal length will emphasize the motion. If you have a kitlens I would try it with that and experiment, you don't need the speed and sharpness of a prime for this kind of photography anyways.
I'll have to play with the twist... :) Thanks!
Hope you like it!
The icm was explained so simply here thank you. One question were you using manual focus or auto.
Thanks Esther. It was manual focus I believe 👍
Oh yeah this is messing with my brain for some reason. Great tutorial btw !
Absolutely wonderful tutorials, thanks! My question is, how does one make money from the landscape photography as opposed to portraiture photography where most people would be happy to invest on certain life events?
Thanks, that's a good question and i wish i had all the answers. In this case all i can tell you that is very hard too.
@@theschoolofphotography thanks for your honest answer!
Do you have the link for the tripod and the tripod head that you are using in this video? Thanks.
Hi I don't have a link but it's the Manfrotto 190 with a pan and tilt head. Hope that helps
Present from malaysia🖐️🖐️
Welcome!!
I knew about this for years but never knew the proper name for it.
Same here Jeff! 😊
And this is why I am taking classes at The School of Photography! I will go out and practice this technique Teacher.
Thanks, glad you liked it 👍😊

Ottimo video, passa sul mio canale!
You can probably leave the tripod at home
Yeap. But if you wanted straight streaks, then panning on a tripod is the way forward 👍
