THANK YOU for putting this out there. After all these silly times;Nuyinya arrived in her home port Hobart, Tasmania, Auistralia this month. Safe winds and good sailingfor her ans crew, over the next 40 years.16/11/2121
To much line out, little control, should be short crossed span right under the bow, in effect you are the bow thruster and the stern tug keeps it straight and acts as the brake. Thats why she is yawing all over the place. That's the difference between sea towage and harbour towing.
It is. Towed ships have a tendency to sheer off in one direction or the other. The best way to tow a large ship like this, would be to utilize a "tail boat", either a push boat or a large tractor tug to help her stay straight.
You are right but me like a navy officer I can handle much better that tugging operation, and I never handle a tug boat before only ship's of maximum 216 meters long
By the towed vessel's meandering 'all over the place', it is obvious that there is no tug on the stern, controlling the swing of rhe stern. As another reader pointed-out, the towing pendant is too long, and they are proceeding too fast. Poor planning and seamanship at all levels.
These guys a totally and utterly incompetent. As an Australian tax payer that will fund the cost of operating this vessel, I am appalled. Damen, who are the shipbuilders are negligent. To tow this vessel correctly, Damen only had to look at the videos on RUclips of how the Meyer Yard at Papenburg tow the largest passenger ships fm their Yard down the River Ems though narrow canals and bridge openings, shallow narrow river with sharp turns to the sea. They do it with two tugs, one to push and one affixed to the bow athwartships to steer, with the vessel towed astern with towing blocks and sheaves fixed onto the bow and stern.
They had a trailing tug connected. However, I think in was underpowered for a two down stream. Furthermore it might have improved the handling using the GOG on the deck.
I think the term captain is flouted about too much... A true captain is navy trained who has spent 20 years as a commander in charge of a ship... A pretty long drawn out apprenticeship but at least in the end we know he's earnt that 4th stripe...
I think it was reported here in Australia as struck something Will at sea on its way had to go back (bunch of lies and nothing to worry about). And then something about the costs ETC and then the setting back of its schedule.. Yep that's our new 500 million dollar Antarctic exploration vessel the pride of our new investment in SUB Antarctic research ETC. Know we can't even fill the fuel tanks because of grounding issues or something (bad oman) Superstitions of the sea Derwent river ??? Open ocean well might be ok. I guess it's an ice breaker and meant to kind of run a ground just don't get between it and a shore line edge.. It's now got serious amphibious complex 😂😊

Agreed... there are no words adequate to describe such incompetence at handling a beautiful new ship valued in excess of $100m.
This icebreaker was built in Romania and cost 2 billion dollars
An example of how NOT to tow a vessel in a canal! I hope Australia get's a discount on the cost of the vessel for that inept towing job..
I bet towing that is a lot harder than it looks

Stern tug looks like it lost its line, the ship looked like it was going too fast...
I guess work PFDs are optional on deck of a tug in an active tow in Romania?

This is a big mistake, where a boat towing in a narrow river channel must have a short rope, not a long rope like in this video

Probably the first ice breaker to touch a tree
I take it, the tow contract went to the lowest bidder?😅
First day on the job?
A swear fits for any working day in Romania
Every single person involved screwed this up and it’s amazing
REALLY?
Nailed it.
That's the risk when you use 1 tugboat, there should be also one at the stern.
And that's, that.
Człowieku weź zajmij się inną robotą.Zrobiłeś tyle błę3dòw jak 5 klasista w dyktandzie

Romanian titanic 😛
I thinkm he wiped put another marina in the beginnibng
Romanii se descurca ei
So short line by tug ..
Need a tail boat
Who cares about the vessel... What about the potential loss of life on the docks in the river??? Is there even a stern tug??
Oooops!
