- Hi. My name is Marlin :) I'm a cat....raised by dogs. And I think I'm a dog. I live in the Outer Banks of North Carolina with my mom, Caroline Jarvis, and dad, Mack Hopkins....and they are about to get married! I have 4 dog siblings - Buxton, Hattie, Shady and Buoy. They've taught me everything I know. My favorite things are going to the beach to go swimming in the ocean, jumping on the boat to go fishing, eating fresh seafood, and swimming in the canal. The fact you can take him outdoors and he stays with the "pack" (rather than sauntering off to do his own thing and/or getting lost) is just amazing. 😃
He NEVER wants to be left behind or miss an adventure! He loves watching and following the pups but he certainly still has all his amazing cat like tendencies as well. He's pretty awesome!!
I am not surprised by that actually. Our cat does the same thing. She never leaves us when we go out. Cats are like tiny little social lions sometimes.
I had a cat that insisted on coming on the long walk to the mailbox (down a winding dirt road in the woods) with the dog and me. After the dog died, she came alone. All the way down, and all the way back.

Its absolutely bizarre. Maybe he thinks he is a dog? Is that possible? How can he put up with being wet so much without his skin being harmed? Cats have such thin skin. He has to be the toughest cat ever.

Oh yes, a swimming cat will stand out from the other mundane cats. They are fun to watch too, but this cats takes it to another level.

He's a CatDog in real life.
I think it's so amazing how animals Instinctively know how to swim. God took care of everything.
All cats CAN swim. The difference here is; "when they have to".

That one shot at 3:10, where as a kitten he's checking the sea - the moment where he gets hit by the waves, he backs off a bit, unsure. Then one of his big brothers comes running to check on him !

He is getting an extraordinary life for a cat. My great aunt had one the same. She would come fly fishing with us all over the place, playing with the dogs and generally being a little bugger with my fly line when I was learning to cast. She would also come on our night dry fly excursions as well. Never lost her once. Great aunt Jessy could call that cat from miles away with a yodel. Fun times.

So many small animals are under estimated and never live up to their full potential. The more experiences and adventures Marlin has the more his brain will get exorcised. There’s no doubt that by the time he’s a senior cat he will be incredibly wise for a cat.

LOVE THIS!!!!! I had a "Marlin" named "Daisy May"!!! She loved her dogs - a lab and a golden - I even had to feed her in a corner of their bowl. What a hoot - 2 big heads and 1 little head all stuck down in the bowl chowing down!!!

That made me laugh as well. I guess we know who the king of the beach is. He made himself as big as possible and then just as fast the confidence flooded in, he was off to play on HIS beach. I love the relationship between all the animals in this group. They really have each others backs

Most cats hate being left behind. I taught my cat to sit and speak and roll over!. She wants to be around us all the time no matter what. Cats are great pets but please dont let them go out by themselves without a leash to keep them safe and other animals like chipmunks and birds safe. Treat them like dogs by using a leash when needed and going outside. :-) so cute she is!

We once had a dog (Chow/Bassett)... raised by cats... who covered his "job" just like a cat.
Had another dog who climbed trees, but he was a Jack Russell, so no surprise there.
He has a great life & knows he can always keep warm with his shaggy family.

When I was a kid, I had a cat that loved the water. It started when he was walking around the edge of the tub when my mom was taking a bath. He fell in and decided he liked it. It was hard to keep him out after that.
Awww, so so CUTE!!! Marlin has always loved the shower and the tub. He comes hauling BUTT across the house to play near the bath tub when you turn off the shower. He hears you open the curtain and he comes a running!! haha

I live on my sailboat on the Columbia River, at a very nice marina with my Siamese cat, Java. She loves living on the boat and loves to go for walks on the dock with me. She is my third Siamese to liveaboard with me and they take to it very well.
He is so tiny next to his siblings. He is an awesome swimmer!
He’s a great little swimmer! And he’s gotten a lot bigger now! We’ve shared a lot more videos! 😁

When I lived in SoCal, I went to the beach often. At one particular beach there was a cat who was always hanging around, chasing the waves, having fun. He pretty much ignored people. And, that cat was also a ginger tabby.

Marlin is the cutest little kitty ever ! I love the way she plays in the water. We have 5 cats and 2 Dobermans and they get into all sorts of mischief together but NO water!

Always felt kinda odd seeing people talking about themselves being a "cat person" or a "dog person". I've yet to come across a comment under a rabbit video that says "I'm not a rabbit person."
You will be a cat person too, one day! You can take cats out to walk too (without a leash) in areas where there is nog a lot of (speeding) traffic. Once I walked with 6 of 7 cats ( 5 of them belonged to me, and even neighbouring cats walked with us). And to see all their tails pointing at the sky. That makes the day!
@@IllusionQueen4Eva In my culture, these are symbolic concepts (with some truth behind). Being a dog person means that you are loyal and/or likes hierarchy (to obey or command others). Being a cat person that you are more into freedom and independence.

It has so much to do with how I raised them and showed them the world and all that :) It's been amazing to watch. But my life has always been like this :)
He's beautiful and so feisty. My own cat is now 9 but this brings back memories of him as a kitten. So fearless and funny. I remember his pride when he "caught" a pigeon feather - what a trophy he had! :)

Marlin is one COOL CAT!!.Our dog Chevy just met his first cat the other day and we captured that amazing encounter on video. You may get a laugh from watching it.

Love him ! Many years ago we rescued "toes" ..he was double pawed, not exactly "normal" the vet thinks he may have been kicked in the head at some point. He perpetually tilted his head to one side. after getting him medical care, a flea bath and a good meal he slept so soundly the first night. We eventually realized he "loved" riding in the car. Shake the car keys and Toes, like a dog raced to the car. Marlin is adorable..............

@@marlinthecatdog That’s awesome! Years ago we went out on our boat, it was 32ft. if I remember right. It had the walk around that was less than a foot wide. We used to take our cat with us and one night we were down below eating dinner and we heard a splash and we ran out to find our cat swimming! We got her back on boat and she didn’t seem fazed too much. She’d still walk around the boat but we watched her like hawks after that! I think if given more time she would have been a water loving cat too! She loved the boat so much we even took her to Canada on it. Just had to show proof of immunizations at border. That was long time ago and she’s not with us anymore but she lived a pretty adventurous life, lol!

I adore him! It’s so great to see more people appreciating that some cats can be adventure nomads like dogs. Merlin is a character, ginger boys usually are pretty special souls.
I had an orange tabby cat when I was a little girl growing up and he was so so special to me. I always knew I would want to adopt another one! Marlin has been such a fun, sweet, and sassy addition to our family :)

It is so cool to see this cat having so much fun thinking he's a dog. I imaging when he was looking into the dogs water dish and seeing his reflection that he was surprised that he didn't look more like a dog. I have a few cat stories myself that show just how much they love their owners, or as I like to put it, partners.
