Technically 4-0; Once against the Cloud of Darkness business, Once against the alternate Source timeline in the 8th Era, Once in the First against the Sin Eaters and now the Final Days. Poor boy needs a day off.
I love that he admits in 5.3 he just kinda had to learn how to show leadership but that he rarely knew what to do. During all the times he lead the Crystarium he showed confidence to inspire others but deep inside he was always nervous hoping he was making the right choices
@@amsaa91 It's because he believes in THEM, not himself He finds the skills, abilities, hopes and dreams in others and amplifies that He leads not by pulling people in his direction, but by pushing people to towards the paths they need to be on And gods be damned, he DESERVES to know how amazing he is for it
Because he compares to people who have done even more, so he downplays his own accomplishments. He woke up in the Crystal Tower to stories written of the accomplishments of people he'd once known. It's not unlike a kid being told stories of folklore heroes from their culture. Imagine for example, you are a child learning about Cu Chulainn in Ireland. Or Arjuna in India. Or Thor in a Scandinavian country. That's what a hero is to G'Raha. He thinks that a hero has a noble cause (halting the Ultima Weapon from being unleashed on Eorzea, willingly intervening in the Dragonsong War, freeing Doma and Ala Mhigo from the Garlean Empire, etc). In contrast, his entire goal starting in Shadowbringers is first to save one friend (undoing the 8th calamity is more of a secondary goal and it's not like he is saving the people in that timeline with his actions). And when he saves that friend and accepts that he doesn't have to die, his goal is just as simple and innocent. To go on adventures, preferrably with friends.
My man saw the stand-in leader of Radz-At-Han die in front of him and immediately moved to temporarily take his place to stop them from panicking. It's such a stark contrast to how he acts when he is relaxed. Love this character so much. All he wants to do is go on adventures with his friends, but will immediately rise to the challenge without hesitation when something has to be done.
He totally went into Exarch mode there, but I guess it makes sense since the way they were turning and the way events played was similar (in appearance) to what he saw in The First.
to be fair, he also just saw their leader die and immediately knew what the situation needed was a stand-in for Ahewann. if nobody stepped in there would have been mass panic
People, hell Square Enix forgets that this G'raha Tia isn't the ARR version, but the guy who spent over one hundred years leading people through an apocalypse that was basically as close to the Final Days as you could get. For as much as he became the comic relief, he is old and can slip back into the 'wizened leader' role with a snap of his fingers. This is my favourite scene in Endwalker because of that, because it's the scene that acknowledges that G'raha Tia is still the Crystal Exarch.
To be fair, it is what he wants to come across as. He wants to be both seen and thought of as this young man that's just going on adventuring, not this several hundreds year old scarred soul that saw two apocalypses engulf the world and was forced to be the object of the survivor's hopes and dreams. He wants to be just a goofy lil' guy, enjoying the little things, especially when he spent a century slowly turning into a rock and moving his petrified body through magic alone. And that is why this scene is so impactful. I do wish this clip had included that inner wrestling within him, that conflict of this youthful persona and the hesitance of yet again shouldering the burden and responsibility of leadership. Yet he understands there is no other way, and so the Crystal Exarch returns, even if for a brief moment. And it is this scene that then reminds us why he reverts to the more laid back version of him as soon as he is able.
I love arr G'raha since i met him. As i get to know him as exarch, the amount of respect and awe i feel for him by the end if shb far surpasses the other scions. And this scene reminds me again how awesome of a leader he truly is. I'm soooooo glad he's there at that scene.
I’m with you there! When I met him in the crystal tower quests I fell for him. When I found out he was the exarch I freaked! Having him as a scion is awesome. This scene reminded me that he was a leader in another world so he knows what he’s doing.

The way I screamed he summoned out that Exarch
Seeing G'raha take charge in this moment of panic and chaos was so damn hot. 🔥

Me, running past G'raha after he told me to go with the twins to Palaka's Stand:
"Just so you know, I am SO hot for you right now."
Everyone: oh fuck, the apocalypse has come what are we gonna do
G’raha: not this shit again
