Having owned both a 3 series and C Class I don’t know where you get off on your comments about diesel rattle and vibration. The C Class is way ahead of the 3 series in that respect. It has a vastly superior interior in quality and appearance terms. No it doesn’t handle as well as a 3 series but when do you get a chance to throw a car around like that in Britain’s crowded roads. As others have pointed out your car is also on the optional 19” wheels so the ride is bound to be firm but it’s still softer than the ride in a BMW with runflats. So pleased with it I just bought my 2nd C Class
As somebody who has owned 2 3 series and 4 C Class's the Mercs are much better. When he says that the driving modes don't make much difference that tells me that he was biased before he started this review. The different driving modes totally change the characteristics of the car. I currently have a c250 4Matic AMG and it is a joy to drive and own. Build quality is great and not as bad as he makes it out to be. It is fast and handles all sorts of driving conditions well. In recent times I have had the displeasure of driving an A4 and a 5 series. I'll stick to my C Class for another 3 years and then get another brand new one.
@@noel3980 a little remark there, the diesels are more noisy when accelarating but are more silent then the competition once they are on a steady RPM. for me this is much more imortant. my former BMW 3 serie didn't make that much sound on accelaration but the noise was still the same when i was cruising on cruise control
The driving modes completely change the feel of the car. The new C feels like a mimi S class which is suitable for normal size people, but in comparing the Audi 4 to the Benz that is not a reliable review, Benz is more luxurious and gives me variations from sport and comfort to please all styles of driving, even the 3 series’s is a sleeker driving feel, so get a merc or a bmw.
Well that doesn't make it his fault, if the car is uncomfortable the car is uncomfortable because Mercedes made an uncomfortable car, and it can not claim on the upside to be a very driver orientated car. Skip the C62 and either get an actual drivers car, or move upto a mid-ranged and much more refined mid-engine sized E class... Or get both, for the same amount of money, because this car is that overpriced! Because the C62 is bad, its bad as a performance car and bad as a luxury vehicle... It is just bad!
La Talmus it's the AMG line design package which includes AMG rims and other interior upgrades. It's not the AMG engine...a bit confusing I know. You can spec an E220d with the AMG package
i have a 2015 c 300 with the 19 inch amg multi spoke wheels. also have air suspension. if you put it in comfort mode its rides just fine. I hated the ride and it was horrible at first but i bought different tires and it changed soooo drastically , the max performance run flats and the specific brand i had were horrible. i thought it was the car but when i switched tires it made the ride very nice. also if you go in sport mode it makes a huge difference with suspension and comfort obviously . If you bought the car without air suspension and amg package they ship it with a more hard sporty suspension so im sure its not as nice. If you want smooth get the luxury package or air suspension.
@@oxysz Hello.....is it possible to tell me what exactly brand of tires you have bought and see the ride now nice?are runflat or not and which model of tires?i have the same ride problem with my C250 Amg with the 19 inch amg multi spoke wheels with Airmatic also that wears continental sportcontact runflat tires...thank you
drove both A4 and C Class (similar spec to this review) and i have to say, A4 was the better car driving wise as well as comfortable. The C Class was disappointing on rougher surfaces. I was expecting not a sporty but at least a comfort ride (even when choosing "comfort") and i didn't find it..and it was not even the AMG. The A4 was not super but at least better ride. The C Class is much more beautiful and with more elegant cabin, however some material like the shinny plastic around this wooden console feels like it will start rattling within 1-2 years.
That wouldn't be the same W123 where steering boxes only lasted 60K, 230 timing chains snapping would it? W124 or 190E were the best. And I've owned them!
clanmac66 well my car has done 129,000 miles and no mechanical parts have had to be replaced. That steering rack thing, I think only applies to the '70s cars whereas mine is an '85. There's been no mechanical mishaps whatsoever since my dad bought it all those years back. I repeat, NO issues whatsoever!!! The W123 is the one of the worlds most reliable, yet underrated cars.
Not the rack, but the steering box and mine was a 83 230E and had to be replaced at 100k. Maybe in the UK the steering had a harder life. Even so, the W124 and 190E were the best engineered and built.
The c class interior is wayyyy nicer than the bmw. and i would wager its the best in class hands down. They keep alot of materials from higher level models as well. since 2014 mercedes have been at the top of the game when it comes to quality interiors.
my 2013 c250 is Gorgeous inside. Much prettier than any Merc or BMW I've owned. (Tho my fav was my Peugeot black wagon with all light beige leather everywhere) STILL looks Beautiful from my pics.
Why are they reviewing this old car? Isn't there a 2018 model about to come out. Mercedes have upped their game now and by all accounts a lot of the negatives have been addressed in the new model.
From what I have heard, the C-Class isn't refined enough for motorway driving to be taken seriously in this class of car. I will wait for the next model to arrive.
Advice please anyone, ,,screen price on a used 220 amg c class of £19,000, no part exchange or finance as I pre arranged all that, from a Merc dealer. ...realistically how low could they go?
How reliable is this car and what about service maintenance costs? So far none of the German brands can beat Japanese or Korean rivals. We don't talk about branding image.
Why does the title say 2018 and the number plate of the car says 2016 😮😂 (Wait what if it is a private number plate… *gulp* plz don’t start an argue 😂)
lmao you prefer the A4.. just on interior quality and styling on the exterior and interior the c class blows the audi out of the water. The c 300 actually looks very nice and elegant compared to the newer model a4s that look like a plain old boxy sedan. it blends in with hondas and fords lol. One thing ill say is the audis upgraded instrument panel that is all digital is amazing. until mercedes puts the e class and s class's display the audi wins on that front for sure.
How you feel about the interior of this car is your opinion, as these things are subjective. you should not choose one over the other, let the viewers make their own decision.
Wonderful review. I really appreciate you pointing out the subpar interior build quality! Some people get so caught up in being a fanboy if Mercedes and they forget to objectively critique and review it. Keep up the good work!
clanmac66 If it's all going to be made in Germany, they'll be very expensive due to labour costs there then people will complain about the even higher prices. The car is still German. Doesn't matter where it's made. It was still designed in Germany and engineered and developed there.
Such a janky car... Very quick and simple to use naviagation from the 90s.... A bit unrefined. Not very smooth over the bumps... Common just say it, its loud, uncomfortable, small and just not very 'premium'. At this level you are just buying a badge... VAG would be a better option I think..
lmao . it is slightly cramped inside with the center console how it is. but compared to other cars in its class its very comparable. and i would argue way more comfortable that other cars in its class.
IT IS SMALL !!! Thought I was buying a Sedan from looking at the outside, but after taking it home, realized I was sitting down inches above the highway asphalt!!! Tough on my old hip/groin pain getting OUT!!! I have to climb UP to reach from ground level! And I can't even see how a baby car seat would fit in it for my new grandchild! Hardly NOthing space-wise in the back! I need to see if My back seats lay down!!! I will really miss tag sale shopping! Will have to hire movers from now on!!!
Tesla Model 3 is the best and has the most spacious rear passenger room, so you could actually seat five passengers comfortably instead of being cramped in the A4 or c class.
Merc all day long.. Going from comfort mode to sport or sport +... Doesn't make a difference.. Are you having a laugh.. It's neck breaking.. This lard arse must drive a BMW
No need to get personal on him, he makes enough of a fool of himself on a professional level anyway. If you can't feel the nuances, you're not exactly a competent car reviewer. In fact his comment about the inconsistent weighting automatically disqualifies this channel as something you should base your decision on. In comfort it's quite numb around the middle, which is exactly what it should be given the name of the mode. Switch to Sport and it behaves more linear and direct, adding precision whilst making it slightly heavier. Having driven a BMW 125 I am very happy Sport didn't make it as artificially heavy as how BMW does it. In fact, when it comes to precision Mercedes did a fantastic job, I can throw it through Autobahn "corners" at 250 km/h and still keep it in the middle of my lane with perfect ease. BMW's "variable sports steering" is actually much harder to aim with, even if it provides slightly more feeling of where the tyres are at. Either way, cheers for RUclips commenters correcting off reviews.

Should I wait another year to buy a 2015 c class? I'm trying to time the depreciation right! Any opinions on buying a used 2015c300 ?
Confused about the mostly negative review. It's one of the best cars I've ever owned.
Really good precise reviews, straight to the point.Well done. Most reviews i watch on here are totally confusing.
The reason why your ride is uncomfortable is because you are driving the AMG model and on huge rims!

A4 above the C-klasse? Wtf what a bad conclusion
Even the much older 3 series is above the A4. I don't know what this guy is on about
Mr Smith bmw is so much noisy in the cabin.
Not a bad conclusion, learn to accept things. The a4 is a better all round vehicle.

This is the better car compared to both BMW and Audi. By far
So what you are saying is that the VW Passat is better than a C-Class. That made me choke more than Audi's emissions.
Andy Jennings No, he's saying that the Audi A4 is better and he is quite right.
The A4 is a Passat its the same car. They just charge you more it
Andy Jennings Your lack of intellect is disturbing...
Could be worse, it could on the same low level as yours.
Andy Jennings To say the A4 is the same car as the passat, shows no understand of cars at all😂😂😂 What are you even doing here? Go learn your alphabet😂
Isn't the C class german? Does that mean the other german cars aren't put together well too?
If you mean by German made in South Africa like the 3 series well, yes!
clanmac66 Those factories in South Africa are world class factories and have won many awards for producing the highest quality cars.
That I don't doubt. But, if you are marketing a 'prestige' vehicle as German engineering at it's best. Surely. that must include where it is made!

Sorry, I don't buy into the marketing!!! Lets see, Ford Fiesta Vauxhall/Opel Astra and Insignia VW Golf all made in Germany.
Shirts a bit tight fella
It amuses me when people expect a Merc to win, just because it's a Merc. When will they realise they're not engineered like they used to be.
