    Hey, thanks for the tutorial, it was very informative. I'm just starting in land based jigging. It is easy to carry a rod & jigs in the car everywhere I go. No more smelly bait. There is much to learn & your video was a great help. Do you have a preference for rod length & why is this? Thanks, Russell.
    New Zealand.

    • @JIGHEADTV
      @JIGHEADTV  7 лет назад +3

      +Russell Grubner hey, thanks for watching. 2.7m is the average size for shore jigging. For longer cast and in some specific situations when need to reach specific spot I use 3m, for fishing near rocks and for species that doesn't require long cast 2.2-2.4 m is enough. So this makes 2.7 meter as a universal choice, but I usually always carry 2 rods with me for short fishing time and if I go for long fishing trip I will carry 3 with different length and test. It all depends on the situation and target species

    Hey. I`ve learnt a lot! from this but this video contains everything except of 1 thing :) What is the maximum depth of the place where you fish with your fishing rod max. 40 g ?

    • @fisherman7834
      @fisherman7834 2 года назад

      you can fish any depth.. general rule of thumb is jig weight in g should be twice the depth you are fishing, but it can be less for shore jigging especially and if the current and wind is low, if fish are on small jigs etc

  • @ALi-we3gf
    @ALi-we3gf 7 лет назад

    I have another quick question. Which is more suitable for shore jigging? Regular action or regular fast action rod? Most of the major craft rods are in between regular and regular fast.

    • @JIGHEADTV
      @JIGHEADTV  7 лет назад

      +A Lin if you do slow jigging then you might consider rod with medium or medium hard tip, if you go more for fast jigging I would suggest hard tips. Rods with MH code will be somewhere in between and good as a start. There is no universal rod, so you might consider carrying couple of rods with you so you can use each according to the situation

    • @JIGHEADTV
      @JIGHEADTV  7 лет назад +2

      +keale s very important to understand the depth of the place you are fishing and make first casts with no hooks attached to check the underwater structure, count how long jig falls to the bottom and then you can attach hooks and play above reefs

    Hello mate, amazing video. Searched like crazy for a vid like this. I fish a lot for cod (bottom fish) in a harbor; i wonder, what jigging method? The one where you do 1 pump and let it sink, or the one where you immitate a weak/dying prey?

    • @JIGHEADTV
      @JIGHEADTV  5 лет назад +1

      Yea, your metal jig imitates bait fish and different type of plays will make different type of action underwater. I can guess that for cod you might need some slow or wide type of jigs, but I never fished for cod yet so that’s just a theory

    Which jig slides side to side as it falls down the water columns? I want the one that slides side to side erratically as it falls down the water columns, not the one that goes straight down real fast. So which jig do you recommend if I want the one that slides as much as possible and hangs in the water columns for a white before it hits the bottom? I appreciate it very much if you could give me a list of them or even link a few of them here for me! Thanks in advance if you could help me!

      Good question, mostly jig that slide from side to side are slow jigs with wider profile like: xesta slow bee, briny breed anchoa slow, zeake s-bit, xesta baby flare, mizuchi swing, zeake r-sardine, LF dub step, takamiya random walk, metal x-flat.
