    What made him so good in the media was how cool he was politically. He nailed Prost, but when it came to Balestre he made his point, but politely so as to clearly not bite the hand that feeds him. Well done!

    I'm Brazilian, and I was also 10 years old at the time of his death.
    I wake-up earlier that morning as I did so many times before, just to watch my hero racing, because that´s what he was for my country, a hero.
    When I heard the news (about his death) my heart nearly stopped, and I went into complete silence and numbness for half an hour. After that, all I could do was cry. I cried for a week, and I am crying right now as I type this comment, just for remembering that morning.

    He was the best that ever lived, like Lauda said. They did everything to prevent him from winning, but he still won and lots of times with inferior cars. And when he finally went to Williams they didn't want him to win it all, so they changed the rules (even though others weren't following it, like Benetton) and also gave him a horrible car to drive, which eventually killed him. No matter, legends never die! 🇧🇷😍👏

    magicman,
    Senna was great because he was the fastest.
    When he arrived in F1, his 1st season, 1st time in Monaco he finished 2nd, after the race was called off by Prost. Everyone knew he was something special.
    In 1990 numberous magazines came out, with articles of Senna, one stating "Senna, a driver so fast; its as if he was sent from outterspace to mock mere mortals with driving".
    Schumacher only won because he had the best car, never had to compete against quality drivers, and was priority.

    Nice roundup of 91 from Senna. First time Ive heard his comments about the pole position slot being set on the wrong side. Not very big of him to blame the authorities for his actions at T1. He had no right to put the car there. Resigning yourself to an accident before it's happened is a big no-no in motorsport.

    Yes, Senna is as guilty as Hill up to the point that the leader in the battle decides his trajectory and can take the corner in every way he wants. BUT (!) if there is another driver who is overtaking (and Senna was merely on the same level as Prost) - the first driver should leave room for him. He can only block him if the second driver is behind and hiting him is not allowed...

Senna succeeded at getting back to the race and winning it. Of course FIA figured that they couldn't let a Brazilian win the championship that time and simply punished Senna.

    Unlike he said, the 1990 season were beautiful championship if Senna didn't butchered it. Suzuka 1990 was just an example what was called stupidity by emotional amature. He just didn't want do the extremely hard race with inferior car in Suzuka1990. He knew that if Prost ahead of him and giving the same level of performance as previous year, he had no chance. That's the reason why he finished the race only for seven seconds. He walked away from the battle.

    Yeah, but Senna managed to be always faster than Schuey with that struggling Williams. In fact, critics said in 1994 that Byrne's B194 chassis (benetton) would be the car to beat. He would walk in the season with that new Williams car. That difference would be easily reached.

  • @LouieGee
    @LouieGee 17 лет назад

    Off course they did, I remeber it, but everyone thought that th Williams car would be the same winning car from '92 and '93. But, as FIA banned TC and other aids Williams found itself in a problematic situation, since that cassis had been made entirely based on TC, AS and those other aids.

    You judge based on isolated case alone. Consider this. The federation were on a crusade against Senna since his early days and even more so since he moved to McLaren and disrupted Prost's lead in the team. Ballestre simply couldn't have that. A 2nd championship in a row was about to be decided in favor of Prost outside of Senna's control, what was he supposed to do? Not to mention Prost, as an year ago in 89, opened the door for a moment. Prost never complained about the 1990 Suzuka incident...

    Don't be demagogical man, anybody would get hurt in an accident like that. Senna wasn't that stupid to do that in a circuit like Monaco or any other where the barriers would be too close to the track. Suzuka was not the case so he knew what he was doing. That was an incorrect action anyway, but mainly was an action to atract the attention of the media against the unfair decisions of FIA and Balestre. Just look how Senna wasn't disqualifyed of the WC before that.

    I've always thought Schumi probably would have won the 94 title even if Senna hadn't been killed. If he'd lived, Williams would have dragged its feet fixing the flaws in the car that caused Senna to open with three DNFs. Or maybe Senna would have forced Williams' hand the same way he did with McLaren's subpar '91 car in midseason. Who knows? I do think Senna would have won the '95, '96 and '97 titles easily had he gone on that long. Wish he'd had the chance...

    It's funny to see how people easily forget important facts. Didn't Prost do the same thing to Senna in 1989? It's a year FIA would rather forget after stupid, ridiculous and infamous decisions to punish Senna when Prost crashed his car ON PURPOSE because (he would learn that lesson in time) he couldn't handle Senna's superiority then. In 1990, Senna DID crash Prost's car on purpose for the very same reason. I'd have done exactly the same thing. An eye for an eye. RIP Senna: THE legend.

    My quality drivers;
    Which drive did Schumacher ever have in his team, that was any good?
    If he had Mika Hakkinen in his team - his pretty little record wouldn't look nearly as shiney. But due to McLaren's poor cars since 1992(Switch from Honda engines to Peugoet) Hakkinen's true potential was not realised. And Shumacher's was exaturated.
