    Quick note on accessibility, when we visited my wife struggled with the room that has "bean bag floors" (not sure what else to call them), and the staff were able to direct her behind a curtain along an alternate route so she could skip that room. None of us bypassed any of the other rooms, but I assume there are similar options for other rooms if needed. Wonderful place to visit! We went since we had seen Teamlab Borderless (which was closed due to relocation) highlighted on this channel, and it was well worth it!

    We went in November with my then 3 year old and our whole group absolutely loved it! I ended up changing him into a swimming shirt/trunks prior to entering because the travel agent warned that the water was about knee level for adults. I would recommend the same if anyone is bringing younger children, because he tripped a couple times while walking in the koi/flower petal room and would have been soaked otherwise. Overall all of us agreed it was one of the top highlights of our trip so I definitely recommend it as well! :)

      Good idea to bring swimsuits for kids! I'm sure he was splashing about a bit too! So glad you all enjoyed it - it's something I think everyone can enjoy, regardless of what you're interested in or how old you are (or what language you speak!).

    Amy, I just went to TeamLabs this past Monday at 9 am, right after the Tuna Auction and breakfast at Daiwa Sushi at the Toyosu Market. Got the tickets online the same day while standing on the line. There is also a vegan ramen restaurant in a beautiful and relaxing setting. It was great to relive the experience through your video, now that I am back home. I love your videos, they are always so informative, realistic and practical. Good work!

    Hi Amy! Thanks for the video! I'm going to Japan in October, and I'll probably go to TeamLab. As I'm only wearing dresses and skirts, I was a bit worried about the water sections (and was thinking about wearing sport short to avoid the mirror issue). Thank you very much for all the details you gave! I might borrow a short if possible, or carefully plan the length of the skirt I'll be wearing on that particular visit. I can't wait to see all the other video from your last trip to Japan 🤩🤩🤩

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  Год назад +2

      Same here, I only took skirts and dresses! As long as it's knee length or above it'll be fine with the water, and there are shorts available. With the mirrored floors, I was mostly hoping everyone was too mesmerised with everything else to notice! 🤞 Watch out if you're going to Shibuya Sky too. It's very windy up there so if you're going with a skirt, a long one is recommended!

    Thank you for this walk thru. This is the best one. I plan to go in a couple months. Couple of questions. I have sensory issues. I need to know so no surprises. The white light room. How long is the walk thru before getting to that open big section with other people? Getting to and back out of the big section is what will bother me. One more question. The fish room does the floor surface change and does anything feel like it touches you? Thank you again for this POV video. I plan to get your book.

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks so much!
      White light room - do you mean the room with the spotlights, before you get to the room with the fish (at 06:16)? It's really just a corridor - it's quite dark, and I think I started filming very soon after entering, so you can see most of it in the video. You can see the doorway on the left, which you go through to get to the fish room. There are a couple of corridors between some of the rooms, but there's only one route around TeamLab Planets, so you can't get lost. There'll probably be other people to follow so you'll find it easily.
      The exit of the fish room isn't the same as the entrance - because of the route you follow through the rooms. You'll be able to see where to go out, by following other people. The floor under the water feels like it's made of rubber, so you don't slip over. It feels safe and doesn't change, but I could feel a few wrinkles where it felt like the vinyl (or whatever it is!) had bunched up a bit in some places. It doesn't feel like anything touches you in the water.
      Hope that helps! :-)

    Is the place to lock up the luggage at Team Labs or at the station you mentioned. This would be really helpful to know as the only day we could get a ticket to visit was on a travel day so we will have our luggage with us.

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  Год назад +1

      What I usually do in that situation is drop my luggage at the hotel I'll be staying in next. Even if you arrive before check-in time, most hotels can store your luggage for you for free until your room's ready (and the same after you check out, if you're not leaving straight away).
      I don't think the lockers would be large enough for most suitcases. It says you may be able to leave them in the area for strollers:
      "After you pass the entrance gate, you can put your baggage in the locker.
      Locker have two size.
      25cm wide x 40cm deep x 50cm high
      25cm wide x 40cm deep x 75cm high
      ・For baggage of size exceeding the above, we can not keep it because there is no cloak.
      ・Please understand beforehand that suitcases with sizes exceeding the above size will be managed with a wire lock in the stroller storage area."
      The local station, Shin Toyosu, isn't that big. It has some coin lockers I'm not sure if it has the large size. Lockers come in four sizes: S, M, L (and XL size, which are very rare). I used them for the first time recently for suitcases and thought we'd need XL, but L turned out to be large enough, even for our yellow case, which is as large as you're allowed on most airlines. (I filmed a video about it!). So if you want to use coin lockers, I'd recommend using lockers at a larger station on the way, wherever you see large lockers en route.

    Hi. How long did you stay inside teamlab? From the time you entered and go. Did it took 2hrs to fully see the whole place?

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  Год назад

      I'd say about 1-2 hours, depending on how long you stay in each room. Planets is nowhere near as big as TeamLab Borderless (all rooms are shown in the video) so you can get round it quicker, or you can choose to sit and enjoy each room and take your time. For example, some people were sitting or laying down in the big flower dome. You can spend as much time as you like you're free to go at your own pace.

      Unfortunately, re-entry isn't allowed. However it's not so large that you'd need to take a break in the middle. :-)

      It's all year round! It's all indoors apart from the garden with the shiny sculptures. But it's temporary so it ends at the end of this year.

      No, the floor's rubbery with a slight texture, so it's not slippery at all. :-)

    • @cakeswithfaces

      The tickets are timed entry, so when it's your time you line up. I found I was only waiting in the queue for a very short time if you line up at the correct time.

    Is it mandatory to use masks there???
    And, which are the less crowded hours?? thanks!

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  Год назад

      At the time, masks were recommended, but since then the rules have been relaxed. However, you might find that most people are still wearing masks indoors in some places - and if so, it's polite to follow suit, to avoid making others feel uncomfortable.
      It's less busy during the week and towards the end of the day. However, when I went it was sold out (even at the end of February which isn't a busy time of year), and it wasn't too crowded at all. Tickets are timed and they limit the number of people, so you can always enjoy it! :-) So I wouldn't worry about it being too full, but keep an eye on the website and buy a ticket in advance if it looks like tickets are selling out for the day you want to go.

      Yes, there are lockers for your stuff. I forgot to film them but they're very similar to the lockers at TeamLab Borderless - there's a photo near the start of the video. It might not fit a full suitcase, but the lockers are quite large for backpacks, etc.

      Yes, you can ask a member of staff if you need to skip a room - they offer that for people with mobility issues too.

      TeamLab Planets is closing at the end of 2023, but TeamLab Borderless is opening in its new Tokyo location in January 2024. It's much larger and is the permanent digital art museum - and has a few of the rooms from this video (highly reocmmended!).

    Hi! How many hours do you need to allot when visiting Teamlab in Tokyo?

    • @cakeswithfaces
      @cakeswithfaces  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can spend as long as you want to there - you could rush round quite quickly or you could sit and watch each room (except the flower room, where they move each group on). I'd say between 1-2 hours for TeamLab Planets. TeamLab Borderless is much larger so would be double that time.

      I missed out on the open air one in Osaka because it turned out to be closed on the only day I could go (should have checked the opening times!). I'd say it looks like there's more at Planets, but they're completely different, so go to the one that appeals to you most!
