- George Hincapie and Johan Bruyneel sit down with the legendary three-time World Champion Peter Sagan to look back at his amazing career, starting with how he started competing in road cycling and how he burst onto the scene at the 2012 Tour de France, where he won three stages and the Green Jersey. Peter discusses his biggest victory, how he dealt with pressure, and the difficulty of winning races as he became a bigger star and heavily marked rider, and how the dynamics in the peloton have drastically changed from the beginning to the end of his career. Before he goes, Peter outlines his plans for the future now that he has stepped away from professional road cycling.

Peter made pro cycling look fun and not so serious with his antics in the Peloton. I know several people who don't cycle or know cycling but know who Peter Sagan is. Thanks for all you did Peter for the sport of cycling.
Perfect comment boom stick
Kind of hard to find a better man to do this new show of legends.
How I will miss him in the peloton. I have the best sports memories ever with Peter. Great episode. Thanks.
Peter Sagan was the biggest BIG cycling star since Lance. We forget so quickly in cycling 7 times Green Jersey amd three times world Champ.
I always thought it was a shame Oscar Friere wasn't more appreciated. Also a 3x world champ and several other great WC finishes. He was sort of the precursor to Sagan I would say.
He shouldn't be hanging out with the Drugstore guy's ,he is to good for that.
What really struck me in this interview was how humble Sagan is. It was fascinating to hear him talking about how Richmond 2015 was the most important victory in his career--because it gave him new confidence, and seemed to open the way for him to handle the pressure of being a top favorite. In retrospect (and even when watching him at the time), all of his great victories seemed inevitable. This interview reminds us that it never was inevitable--he fought for all of those victories against amazingly high quality opponents. I hope someone comes soon--maybe in the next 5 years--to write a really good biography that captures how Sagan beat the odds so often, but never knew if he would or not.
One of my favorite scenes in racing is seeing Sagan, just past the Richmond finish line, slinging his bike away, tossing his helmet and glasses to the crowd, and then high fiving the other riders as they rolled in.
Anche per me la vittoria Richmond è assolutamente fantastica...grandissimo Peter...
This! One of my all-time favourite moments in cycling!
Absolutely. Such a special moment that has it all. Best memories.
Man seriously, George asks the right questions and is a real win for these podcasts! Part of why I watch THEMOVE in the first place!
they are all so gut, you are right, greetings from europe!
You are all either very young or very forgiving.
I'm gonna miss this guy. What a legend
Competitive cycling is not the same without Peter any more. Such a down to earth guy who simply takes everything in his stride. A real winner.
began cycling at 64 now 72 years old and he keeps me into training and cycling ! He is a magnet on bike on screen ... races will no be the same
A legend indeed. So glad Peter was your first guest in the series. There's something quite magical about him as a cyclist. But clearly he also has a sharp mind and knew how to strategize well.
I had had a long break from watching the sport, and I fell back in love with it all over again when Peter came on the scene. He defied all of the limits. I love his spirit and his heart. It’s hard to move on without him.
THE Legend.
Very interesting how Peter Sagan talks about saving energy, one of the principles of good cycling, while a lot of pro riders just don't seem to get it. Plus his incredible steering abilities, he really became a legend to all cycling fans with his down to earth attitude. We can only thank him for the fun he gave us.
Sagan is the soul reason I purchased a Bora cooking hob.
Love that thing.
Thanks for all the memories 🍻
What a unique cyclist and a true legend..
Great interview! And thanks for giving him the chance to speak and express himself. Often, interviewers will speak "for" guys who don't speak English as a first language, you guys let him speak and it was great to hear him relax and speak freely.
Cav next?
If there was ever a pro cyclist i would like to meet, it is Peter Sagan. That’s it. I wish him the best in his next phase and i am sure we shall keep seeing and hearing about his initiatives….WEDU, great idea to start these interviews. Looking forward to more…
JOHAN ! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! Great interview to Peter Sagan!❤❤❤❤ 🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️👏👏👏👏
Grande!!!
my all time favorite rider. I watched hi win the tour of california and went to 3 stages. An amazing career. Much love, P. Sizzle
Peter is really a class act! He understands what it takes for continued success. Very cool guy!!
Awesome watch 😎 Peter brought the peloton alive, incredible rider. ❤
Thank you so much. Peter Sagan is absolutely the most Legendary and deserves more respect than he got from the cycling world in his retirement year. He actually came to our local midweek afternoon mtb race in SoCal. Kids were so stoked to meet him. Always been my favorite rider since that afternoon. We MTBers love when one of “us” takes it to you roadies. Grateful I got to watch all of you guys. Peter and George definitely my favorites
Sagan was successful on the road because he trained for the road. mtb might have given him a relative edge in bike handling but it had nothing to do with what got him wins on the road. just sayin'.
This is a great series. And George got in the great question of the day - "how has cycling changed over the past 13 years." Glad I got to see Sagan, and wishing him the best with his new adventures.
Mahalo a nui loa for doing this interview for your first Legends podcast 🥰
Gotta love this guy! one of my all time favs.
Great show! I well remember that Richmond world championship. Incredible. And Peter Sagan already was a major star, not some unknown who stole the race.
love to hear Peter being so candid, great interview!
The Very Best To Mr. peter Sagan
Many Daily Blessings to you and your"e family.
Fantastic guest to kick off your legends series and great interview by George and Johan! I was in Richmond cheering for Peter when he won his first world championship, and I will always treasure the experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, like a coronation for Peter The Great! Thanks for the memories Peter and Godspeed!
Ditto being in RVA for his victory. That final climb…..
My daughter and I were in RVA too, about 500 M from the finish - just past the final climb. He had broken away on the second to last climb and bombed the downhill on the top tube. Went by us with a face full of pain. One of my favorite sporting events of all time.
Vorrei aver visto anche io quella vittoria di Richmond...credo che sia stata per te una bellissima e indimenticabile esperienza...😊
Thank you, Johan and George for allowing Peter to speak. What a wonderful interview an incredible human being an extraordinary athlete pagan is it has brought me great joy to have been able to experience his accomplishments. Much love to you, Peter and your family. May God bless you all.
Such a fun athlete to follow and root for.
I could watch this again. The amount of panache this man has and the level of entertainment he's brought me is amazing. Definitely one of the GOAT's
Great interview with Peter Sagan... a legend for sure.
Yay! Peter! He has circuitously influenced my life. I happened to see the tdf on tv and it happened to be in a pretty place I'd visited. Then Peter interviews were pretty fun. I was drawn in cheering for him. I started to work out while watching the races. I'm an older lady but now an older lady who is fit and have a resume of outdoor adventures over these years.
Frickin incredible guy!! I'm suffering here on the Wed ride ...I know the route. I know where i need to be up front but if the pace is hard ...no chance!!! This guy doing this with the best of the best !! That just incredible
Chapeau guys! Awesome interview, easily one of my favorites. Peter is a legend in his own class!
Make disco party!
Thank you all for this amazing interview and thank you Peter for the wonderful years of riding, looking forward to more!
Great show and superb insight into the mind of a true champion.
This guy is a treasure. Sorry to see him leave the scene, but such is the life of pro athletes. Careers have to end, sooner than later.
He doesn't seem to leave the scene, just shifting to MTB (and why not CX !).
Fantastic series - "Legends" - and having Sagan for the first episode is superb! Loved hearing Peter talk of his races and training. Thank you Peter - good luck in Paris! Thank you Johan and George!
great launch for Legends!
What a fantastic interview. I loved hearing his story about his incredible win in Richmond and especially George highlighting how he could “camouflage” himself in the peloton. That always amazed me how he could do that. Such an intelligent and gifted athlete. 👑
Thank you Peter for the memories and the inspiration.
What a great interview. He's one of my faves...just a great guy.
A great idea for a new show! Love it!
“With a long climb, I can just relax in the grupetto” - something only a 3x world champion would say lol
Amazing work fellas interviewing Peto Sagan. He made cycling fun.
Got me into the sport. So happy about it
Love the new series. Thanks! Thank you Peter for all the years I've enjoyed watching your road races. Good luck in the future with the mountain biking. I'm an avid fan of the MTB downhill racing and look forward to watching you in that discipline.
We luv you Peter, you will be missed!
What a legend..
Just one word: LEGEND 🔝
Thanks for the memories on the road Peter.. Legend
Love it!! Peter Sagan is the OG badass!!
thank you for this series, definitely legendary and loving it, Keep it up!
I'm so pumped for the new series!!Peter Sagan on the THEMOVE!!!What a great champion So freaking cool man
Amazing career Peter! Can’t wait to see your next adventures.
Peter brought me into the sport. Absolutely brilliant on and off the bike. I just hit 7k miles this year - love to ride now!
Great interview with a man who has been a good rider and fun to follow. He's missed out of the peloton, but hope his mtb venture will be successful.
This was awesome. Thank you George and Johan.
Now this is a proper party! Peter is a true legend. We are lucky to see his career live. Looking forward to see the other 5 guests
Thanks for this ! Gonna miss the master of the green jersey in the Tour !
Truly unique legend in the sport. Paris Peter, Paris!
Great interview!
Wow thanks for this WEDU and Peter.
Probably the most educational podcast I've seen on the sport of cycling.
Awesome content. Should be a repeat guest, just saying. Now that he isn't in TDF would be great to see Peter on the recap shows talking about how crazy these young guys race in 2024!
Peter is a true legend🤙🏼🔥 forever💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Legend!!
Legend indeed.
This is an absolute pleasure to watch. I'm about to turn 50, and I've actually switched from being a life long road cyclist to mountain biking, and with a specific interest in dowhill. I can only imagine if Peter had done downhill from the beginning. He would have undoubtedly been as good. How amazing to see him compete with Aaron Gwin, Loic Bruni, and Greg Minaar during the 2010s!?
This was epic! Love Peter. Looking forward to the whole series. Thanks Wedu gang!
There will be non like Peter after him. He change my life, for better. Thanks Peter, I will see you and talk to you one day.
Ďakujem Peter, verím, že ťa uvidím v Žiline, alebo v Monaku a prehodíme pár slov.
Great interview! Love Peter! Such an entertaining and prolific winner!!!
Picked up road cycling in 2016 at 59. I missed Peter's 1st World Championship but have followed UCI cycling, especially the 1 day races, Flanders, Paris Roubaix, Tour de France and World Championship 3X... They didnt want you to win again so they changed course to insure Climber would Win... Peter Sagan thank you...
Ah the Saganator!!! Thanks gents for this kind of video.
Peter Sagan 👍👏🚴♂️🇷🇸
Great interview to Sagan, interesting things about those risks the young riders are taken with no reason.
I love this themove legends podcast! I find it way more interesting than regular podcast which is also nice don't get me wrong! much love
Great interview. Thanks guys.
Best conversation on this channel so far
Really interesting. I had always seen Peter Sagan as someone who was wreckless, wasting energy, bringing show and introducing the riding style of the new generation, but he's more of a traditional rider and thinker like for instance Peter Van Petegem was. In chess, you could say he ressembles Ivanchuk in that way: a hidden conservative, desguised as a revolutionary (and that's a compliment!).
I should also add that I had always believed Sagan was doping, because he made it seem so easy, won too much, ddn't always seem to be well prepared, and raced for some shady teams. This interview however does reveal how much strategy must have mattered too. He's a cool guy and a sportsman at heart.
Loved listening, great interview 🎉
Thanks to Peter for doing this!
Amazing show @TheMove 🙌 Well done!
It would be great to hear what George and Johan thought of that interview. Maybe you could do a few mins after to discuss. Peter seems like a super switched on guy, great idea to have this series! Bravo!
Got to watch Peter race a few times in Australia and he did give it all. Pity he has retired but 12 years as a pro cyclist is a long time and not many get even that. I hope he still competes at some level with success in off road cycling.
We make party?? Hell of a rider. Changed cycling with his personality.
THANK YOU PETER!!!
Thank you very much for this interview! Just one thing, when you talk about specific scenes in races, it would be very helpful, if you show the scene, so for the people who didn't see the race in the past, they can understand better about what you talk...
When one of the most talented riders and one of the best bike-handlers of all time is getting nervous with the newer style of racing, it makes you wonder just what the hell is going on within the peloton, and where it's coming from. 🤔
If Elon was interviewing Peter, he gets the job :) Great problem solver. His strategy and problem solving to win in Virginia was amazing!! Peter remembers so many little details about his wins is simply great. What a wonderful interview!!
🇸🇰 Thank you, Peťo.
impressive memory.he will make a great director one day
He appreciates good wine. Big George
What a score!
Interesting insight into Peter's career.
Thank you guys. Wish Lance was there and add his brand of humor.
❤THE MOVE LEGENDS!
We'll miss you Peto...
His English is getting better and better. 😊
