I'm so glad you made the change to zoom the map out more at the beginning and the end. We can see in more detail what happened and what changed since the start of the video and it complements with your recap at the end too.
I know most of these battles aren’t really very well documented but I actually really liked your simple battle design for the theodosius video and Rome against atilla I hope you bring it back once we get to more documented battles
These videos are more about general narratives of various states in history. I avoid diving to deep into the military side of things. But I will consider it.
Everybody loves to look at the crisis of the 3rd century as the lowest point. Theses were the true bad days of the Romans. People wonder how Rome survived that crisis, look at Constantinople and Rome in the empire at this time. There were actually a lot of atemps in the western lands of userper leaders of Italia militia technically part of the Roman army tryed and of course some userpers appointed to Ravenna who revolted against the Emperor or Papal issues. Seriously bad bad times

Like, the English page about Leo IV the Khazar has only a few paragraphs, while the French page is a compilation of every available source, medieval and modern, about the Emperor, mentions everything from internal policies to wars and foreign relations. The French wiki about Alexios I Komnenos is also a gem that could pass as a biography.
Yes that's confusing for sure. I cannot say I know why it is the case. Perhaps the most hardcore fans of byzantium among wikipedia editors happen to be french. The detailed articles about Komnenian emperors may have something to do with the crusades, a part of french history. But that's pure speculation.

Everyone always say Justinian II is one of the worst to ever do it and yet he did pretty well, at least for the first reign. The first few years was pretty good until the Slavs defected in that battle. It makes you wonder what would happen if they didn't. No 20 year anarchy? Would he continue the momentum and liberate Antioch 3 centuries earlier? Maybe those Syrian Christians could help him liberate Syria and the Caliphate never truly consolidates.
The problem with Justinian II is his second reign. The first reign was still okay, but his reaction towards the families of the slavs of Anatolia when the army deserted to the Arabs was a signal that he wasn’t mentally stable.
Question: Will this focused mainly for the relations between the Romans, the Arabs, the Slavs and the Bulgarians for the time being or the Conquest of Hispania will be featured as well?

The ability of the ERE to consolidate power into defensive administrations is amazing! I really think they could have survived until modern day. What a shame. Maybe Armenia and Georgia would have stayed rather untouched, or at least protected, in comparison to what they had to go through in our timeline

@@barrett206 jokes a side as empire the fall of north Africa completely changed everything meaning that the Byzantine lost any major comback on long run and it kept on the defensive from 717 to 960s the moment the Byzantine got stronger again it failed so fast after that in 1071
