I have arthritis in my thumbs and the old style was painful to use more then one or two times. I got one of these new ones and I can just push it on my leg or bench so much easier now, I'm glad I finally ordered one after my old tip got too wide and split.
The longer silicone isn’t a long replacement 😊 it is about 8 replacement tips. You have to cut it. Unfortunately couldn’t find it in the UK store! But it is available on US! I think i will get it from there
I have the Kotto and this one now. The Kotto has been great but the end came flying off one day. Somehow the threading got messed up so had to put a bit of JB weld on it to keep the thumb piece on.
I should get mine today but how many times have you gone to suck the solder with the cheap ones and the plunger hasn't' been depressed or set and ready to go? I swear every time that happens. I noticed that you can tell with this one right away if the plunger is ready, that right there ALONE makes it worth it.
Note that all suckers get weaker over the years. You can easily strengthen each sucker by taking out the spring, and pulling it into length. Compare the length before and after. For example I stretched my spring to 150% and wow, much better sucking power now.
The teardown and review was useful, and then you completely sealed the deal for me when you used it for the first time. Seeing how quickly you desoldered that transformer and how clean the holes came out, wow. Decision made. Mine arrives tomorrow, so excited to try it out over the cheapies. Thanks for the video, especially the closeup views. By the way, can you please share a link to the blade tip you're using? I want to find something similar for my FX-888D. I love how thin it is; would make bridging in tight spots really easy. Closest I can find is the T18K knife tip, but it's still a 2mm wide wedge, not a thin blade like yours.
I'm not sure exactly of the top of my head, but I am sure I referred to it in this video and possibly a link in the description 👍 ruclips.net/video/UACZMu7o06k/видео.html
@@backofficeshow oh yes... :) I've got the short stubby screwdriver ratchet thingy which is a godsend for getting into tight spaces and the screw extracting pliers with perpendicular ridges. Very functional kit. www.engineertools-jp.com/products
Hope it works out for you, I think its learning curve was pretty quick over the regular ones, getting used to the squishy end took 30 seconds to adjust :)
I reckon we need one that if you have your finger on the end and you depress the button it should not shift. Zero internal leaks. Like the MAXIMUM SUCK possible. :)
@@backofficeshow Some noname cheapo pump. It works good for like 2-3 times then I need to open it to clean it, then repeat. I've ordered the SS-02, hope for better results :)
Vellemen makes a heated solder sucker that's awesome and affordable. It's like these only you plug it in the tip heats up. I would share a link but IDK if youtube will flag my comment? Here's the description: Velleman VTDESOL3U Vacuum Desoldering Pump with Heater 30W
I know the kind well, they seem to be well available and significantly cheaper than the motor ones. I do like the explosive suction of a spring pump, can't be matched
I just bought one - and it sucks! But not in the good way.. it has so ridiculously low suction power, it simply doesn't work :( I don't know why.. opened it and everything is looking normal.. at least compared to this video. I could not see what the other inside half is supposed to look like as it wasn't opened from the back in this video.. Also the sound when releasing the pump is strange.. it sounds a bit like my old standard-plastic pump, when it's clogged. But there's nothing inside, it's completely new and clean.
The old style ones have been around for a long time. I am sure there are a few high quality versions of those available as well. I have some for a few decades and even they were second hand 😂
I believe the long tube is from which you are meant to cutting replacement short pieces.
yes

Thanks for the video! I wanted to get the Vampire version but it was $7.00 more. I ordered mine just now! Great video by the way!
I bought one last week - excellent sucker!
You certainly get more suck for your buck!

dO THEY MAKE AN AUTHENTIC HAKKO TIP LIKE THAT FOR THE HAKKO FX-888D STATION? What size is it?
Lovely Japanese stuff. Excellent sucking power 😆 and I love mine. Glad you think it's a game changer. I concur👌

I shouldn't have cheaped out on the solder pump, I learnt the hard way :D

Solder turns liquid at 190C-ish so you will be fine. Just when you touch the iron directly for longer than a second you would melt it.
Got one myself after recommended from MyMateVince on his videos.
Great camera. What are you using?
I use the Panasonic Lumix GH series cameras
