    Tip 1: use a blank 35mm leader to start your roll;
Tip 2: use 220 backs if applicable.
    Tip 3: Get a fuji 690.
    Tip 4: Have fun.

RZ67 with a 6x6 220 back is awesome for that 2.35:1 aspect ratio seen in cinema

Hey I'm great at wasting film! I thought to myself "NO WAY! You're doing the same thing I do! Sprocket shots in my TLR! AAAAAH!" You're a madman doing this handheld my man! I can't imagine doing that at a shoot with a model. NIGHTMARE hahaha. I have advancing problems doing this too with my yashica mat 124-G. Even though this is a very wasteful cumbersome process I have still posted 6 youtube shorts of me doing exactly this. I had one of those 6x7 folders, but ended up selling it. Now I wish I still had it, but it had really limited shutter speeds. Anyway, I'm glad to see a fellow madman out there doing his thing. Subscribed! Looking forward to more shots.

《Getting 35mm film 'Turn Count' in 6x9 camera》 I am using a 6x9 Zeiss Exona to shoot a roll of 35mm film (24 exposures). In oder to know how many turns I have to wind the film for each shot, I used a dummy 35mm film (24 exposure) to get the turn counts for each picture. I load the dummy film into the camera and leave the camera back opened to watch the film advance and at the same time counting turns of the film winding knob for each picture from the 1st one till the end of the film. Finally, I got the following record:
    2.5 turns for each #1, #2, #3 picture.
    2 turns for each #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9 picture.
With a roll of 35mm film (24 exposures), I get a total of 9 panoramic (2.5cm x 9cm) photos. Different camera has different turn count for each photo. I use the same method to get the turn count for some other medium format cameras such as Mamiya RB67 Pro SD. Once the turn count is available, the camera is in any time ready for the shoot. With this method, I can save most of the film and get a maximum number of shots with a roll of 35mm film in any medium camera.

Thank you on behalf of all the analog dummies. Pinned comment.

I have never used the Hasselblad Xpan to obtain a 24x65 aspect ratio on 35mm film.
I have, however, used a Fuji GW670 with a fixed 90mm normal lens to obtain a 24x68 aspect ratio on 35mm film.
I have also used a Mamiya RB67 medium format SLR to obtain a 24x68 aspect ratio on 35mm film. I usually use a 50mm wide-angle lens or a 90mm normal lens on my RB67 to capture panoramic images.
When I want an even greater aspect ratio, I use a Fuji GSW690 with a fixed 65mm wide-angle lens to obtain a 24x83 aspect ratio on 35mm film.

The photos came out really nice ! I say try again- for your camera it's probably 2 full turns- you can mark on the winder with a sharpie dot to know each time youve made a full turn

I also have a TLR that I’d like to try with this. I have a Mamiya c330. I want to know how you got the film out of the camera because that’s the only thing that’s keeping me from doing it

The only way to do that is to open your camera in a lightproof room., or perhaps the bag some people use for spooling film. I just did it in my bathroom. Open the camera blindly and rewind the film manually. Hope it helps.

@@Somethingwithfilm gotcha. Is there a big risk of ripping the film out of the canister?

@@forevernotjohn I would say, not really

Maybe someone should make a digital panoramic camera. Or one that enables the panoramic option.
