  • Decided it was a good time to make a video on my views on how to fish the Swan River, Perth. I was never taught how to fish, so I learned everything I know from going out and trying things for myself. This has led to having some insights and opinions on fishing around Perth that might differ from the norm. Species I talk about in this video include silver trevally (skippy) , samson fish, bream and flathead.
    All clips in this video (besides the 1st clip) come from previous videos, so give them a watch if they look interesting!
    Thanks a lot for watching! Let me know if you like this kind of informational video.

    Bang on. The seasons dictate and the most onto-it blokes capitalise on it.
    What a great appraisal of the Swan River from your angle.
    Alot of anglers in Perth fish one part of the river and nowhere else, usually due to proximity from home.

    Cracking guide mate! The Swan is definitely underrated. One thing I do love is the number of ways you can target each species. Land-based fishing and its methods are totally different to kayak fishing, which in turn is different from boat fishing. So many ways to catch fish! We do live in a wonderful place. Keep the vids coming!

      absolutely mate, used to do some kayak fishing and it definitely opens up some doors, but still plenty of land based opportunities around! Good to see some more people finding your channel too. Would be great to see you give giant herring a try on the kayak in the coming months! Easier said than done of course haha

      @@lucky835seat8 haha mate all good. In terms of a rod, It's hard to go past the daiwa infeet range for value for money. there's a new one coming one in the next month or 2 . A cheaper option would be the atomic arrowz range which I used to use. The shimano nasci is a solid reel (also used to use) , but the shimano miravel is the same reel at a lighter weight pretty much. the daiwa freams is also great but they may have just been all put on clearance. I'd either with a shimano miravel paired with a daiwa infeet or a daiwa td black paired with a td hyper or atomic arrowz, should both equal roughly 400. remember that a lot of the daiwa rods are coming out with new versions in next few months.

      hey mate, the como area is the one area I haven't really explored much, always kind of thought it was too hard to get to haha. Would definitely be some flathead on the flat there. Maybe try switching over to lure fishing if youre catching too many blowfish, or head upstream. Not many blowfish upstream of East Perth at all. Thanks for watching!

      Can you suggest what Lure should I use at swan river ?

    • @LightTackleAnglerWA
      @LightTackleAnglerWA  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@ZairECU hey mate, there are a lot of lures to use dependent on your situation, but some great soft plastics to use for flathead are 3" slim swimz, and the 2.5" grub is a good starter for bream and pretty much everything else in the river tbh. downstream there are a lot of blowfish so a double clutch is a good lure to use, scale the size according to the fish youre after, eg small ones , 48 or 60 for bream

      have caught them everywhere between the Freo traffic bridge and Claremont yacht club. even saw one today in Nedlands. just fish structure downstream and you'll run into some :) thanks for watching! also there are some bigger ones around, especially during summer. bigger poppers around downstream structure and you've got a chance. Talk to the younger guys at AFW and they'll help put you onto a few if you're after the bigger models :)
