Digging the new HR-V few nights back was looking at the current generation several weeks back was looking at the new HR-V looks amazing really like this new style its a nice little compact SUV.
Honda did a damn good job sticking with their conservative design language. Especially with selecting this color. Even though some might prefer the aggressive styling from the new Kia and Hyundai products, Honda remains unfazed. And it works.
I used to love Kia's looks, but the latest generation of their cars just looks so bad. they have way too many lines and textures and shapes happening on their front grills. I think Hyundai looks pretty good though, tbh. I wonder how their cars are gonna age over the next decade though. Honda's latest do look excellent. Very reserved, like the new Civic, but they seem to take well to more aggressive styling cues as well, i.e. the new Type R

CR-V LX with grey cloth a 26.8k and HR-V Gray Perforated Leather 27.5k cheapest 2 options if don't want black cloth. Have the Taos .The 4 Motion (Haldex) is amazing ,a lot of snow where i live. The dsg is phenomanal in launch control mode that make the 0-62 in 6.7 sec .The combo motor/tranny is much more superior and refined than the hrv . I would like to thank VW to not use cvt here in Canada.I test drove this hrv and i dont understand how people like driving this car. The low torque and cvt kill everything. Its not just about styling , dash ,steering wheel etc.. the powertrain is so important when you paid 35k for a little suv
Eric, I'm in Canada and considering a Taos. Which trim line did you buy? I'm looking at either the Trendline or Comfortline and can't decide between the two. I like the price of the Trendline. The Comfortline features are nice, but once you price out the Comfortline, it's a small jump to get into the Tiguan (which is bigger than my wife wants for a commuter car, but seems like better value for they money). Thanks

Test drove A LOT subcompact SUVs and this by far had the best visibility out of the back window. I don’t know why car manufacturers are making tiny Twinkie shaped windows.
Great review and perfectly placed ZONKS!!! My wife and I actually own both of the subject vehicles. Husband=TAOS SE FWD IQ; wife=HRV EXL AWD. Both are great for different reasons. The TAOS can be loaded up with volumes of sleeping bags, tents, RTIC, cots and all other things camping; in a way the HRV can’t. HRV load floor is “meh”… FWD TAOS has clocked 41MPG on road trips! AWD HRV is super stable driving. 2 points to add: 1. seating position of front seats in TAOS has more down space; allowing a more upright (read:comfortable) leg position. HRV feels like riding in a S2000 or Prelude. 2. Available sky views differences are stark; Automatic shade rolling panoramic sunroof in the TAOS; tiny, manual slide moonroof in HRV. IMO Honda sacrificed a lot of features in the EXL so they could put them in the CRV and attract buyers like moths to light. I love my TAOS! She loves her HRV!
So I've been driving a civic for 20 years now currently 2009 civic coupe so I'm used to good all around visibility. I did do a short test drive of one of these since I'm interested in something that can handle the rough Wisconsin weather. What worried me the most was how hard it is to see out the back and blind spots. Is that something you get used to with SUVs and is the hrv better then the others in its class in that aspect?
I had a CRV and the poor outward visibility was one of my biggest complaints. It’s a problem with SUVs in general. You learn to live with it, but no, it never really goes away. Some compact SUVs are better than others in terms of outward visibility. The HRV is actually supposed to be one of the best in that regard. You could also look at the Subaru Forester. That’s supposed to be the best for outward visibility. I test drove one a few years ago and liked it, but hated Subaru’s CVT. They may have fixed the CVT by now, which would make it a very good choice.
I had my Honda CRV for 19 years, loved it. Then the air went up and was an expensive fix. I was thinking of the HRV rather than another CRV because of the lower cost. Long story short, I ended up at the VW place and they had a WHITE 23 (mandatory for me) VW Tas S fresh off the truck and I loved it. The trans is a little jerky when stopping and I hear lots of chatter about leaking coolant and head gasket problems, but mostly with the 22's. Wish this Honda traitor good luck with her Taos! Thanks for your informative videos!
I'm on the fence...I like the look of the Sport but of course I would get more from the EXL. But, even the top trim, we can't get the better look or even an auto lift gate!
The door pockets are ribbed for your pleasure! Not only is this styled differently then the other markets, it’s a totally different platform. The foreign HR-Vs are based on the Global Small Car Platform shared with the Jazz/City. Ours will be sold elsewhere simultaneously as the ZRV.
Joe- Did the bean counters get ahold of that back seat area or what!? In 2023 1 USB port is mandatory, 2 would be great and no armrest c-mon! reclining seats will be great as well ,I love them in a Chevy blazer. That side profile reminds me of that Porsche suv .wish they made they quater panel glass more aggressive in terms of style... you did touch on alot of the zonks....feels like they did Lx and Ex-L to cut back on costs.but some people will like it the way it is and some won't. I'm a massive Honda fan. However, the backseat area is massive zonk. As someone with two children, no cup holders or air vents is enough for me not to buy it. That being said, it's a decent ride when I test drove it.
why would a top trim have a 17 inch rim vs the lower sport trim which has an 18s? haha.. my guess would be improved fuel economy and smoother, quieter ride?

Please help me all details that apply or suggest me what all things I should know which will help me?
