    Thank you, Kathleen. This is an awesome video featuring 5 beautiful techniques for pockets/tucks. I love your layering projects and in my eyes you’re one of the best of the many creators that I have seen on RUclips at creating layered effects! Your pieces always look amazing! I’m really looking forward to the flip through of both of these journals. Well done, dear friend! 😀💞

    I always enjoy watching you do collage. Every one of these pockets look great. Not sure I could choose a favorite, but the wrap around with the lace applique may be the one...maybe. The tab wrap around pocket at the front is great, too. (OK. All of them!) I love the idea you use to make the thumb notches by turning one piece over and punching them together. I get so many good ideas from you, but remembering all of them is the trick. Thanks so much for sharing, Kathleen.

    Thank you for another wealth of inspiration. I thought I could not do any embossing, because I do not have a machine. And you just showed me one way to do it anyway, since I do have a scoring board. And of course your pattern was just one of so many other possibilities. But further than that you opened my mind to look around and find other things I can use to put some embossing on my papers without having an embossing machine. I will start experimenting more right now. Thank you!!!

    I know I'm a bit late, but was just re-watching this video and I have a couple of questions. How do you determine what is the right number of pockets and tucks in a journal? Also, how do you determine where to put them in the journal (ie: every second or third page)? I realize there are no real rules when it comes to journal making, but just curious to know what your process or approach is to this. Thank you for sharing.

    • @BeAgainBooks
      @BeAgainBooks  3 месяца назад

      @@marielibby6475 This is a really great question, but I hardly know how to answer it. I think it must come down to how many printed or decorative papers I have in the signature and that could vary. I really don’t put pockets on a writing page and seldom a tuck - maybe once in a while. I usually reserve the decorative or printed papers for these kinds of elements. The decorative papers end up between the writing pages, I try not to put too many writing pages without including a printed page, so they are kind of spaced, but it all depends on what I’ve chosen and what looks the best at the time. I almost always bind the journal before decorating pages, so then the die is cast as to where the pockets end up, haha. I just put pockets or elements where it seems like there needs to be one, haha. I do try to be deliberate about having a similar number in each signature, though I don’t worry if I’m off a couple. I really hate extreme gator mouth journals, so sometimes I just have to quit and leave decorative pages blank as well. It seems to me that I usually have about 7-10 elements in one signature. The number goes down if there is more than one or two signatures. I don’t always count embellishments as an element, only if it holds another piece of paper, or if it seems excessively thick. Thanks for the question Marie. I hope that’s a bit helpful.
