We recently unearthed some long-lost footage from a 1988 Family vacation (featuring Amanda at 6 years old and Kate in her 30s), and it is certainly a blast from the past! For the longest time, we thought this footage was lost forever; only recently did we find an old, unmarked VHS tape and discover this magic!
This short flashback features quite a few Disney rides and attractions that are no longer in existence, including:
The original Disney World Toontown, called Mickey's Birthdayland
* Minnie's Birthday Surprise stage show
* 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarine Voyage
* An appearance by the ORIGINAL Dreamfinder
* Horizons ride
* An extinct character breakfast at Fort Wilderness (Chip and Dale's Breakfast Jamboree), featuring
Chip, Dale, and the Country Bears
* And much more!
Join us as we look back on this classic adventure at the Disney World of yesteryear!
Nothing like today. Thanks for sharing!
I love this stuff. I think the 80s were amazing.
It's great to hear the kids genuinely enthusiastic and full of excitement
I am dying! I was there in 1988! I miss the 1980’s!!!
I was there in 88 also. 😂
Made my first trip to WDW in 94. Drove from Chicago in an 85 Honda Civic with my wife and two boys, 4 and 2. Dressed them like twins, just as you did. Such a magical trip. Ended up having 6 boys and going to WDW about 1-2 times a year for about 20 years. Things have changed, and I will never spend another dime on Disney, but those times were magical. Their movies back then as well. No more.
WOW! Just WOW! As a little girl I always wanted to go to Disney world.
Didn't get a chance to go until I was married with kids of my own. So much as changed since I was born in the early 70's and grew up in the 80's. Just WOW!
I was there in 1982
My parents took me to Disney World in 1988. This video brought back some very fond memories.
I wish I was here in the 80's as a kid!
Kate is my spirit animal!
I loved it! This brought back memories of my best WDW trip ever (so far) in March '89 (before going on a cruise on Premier) when everything in this video was still there! Great job with this find, Josh and Amanda!
the best version of imagination
bTW, your film quality is better than their promotional films at the time. What did you film this on?
I was born in Orlando
Thanks for sharing! I don't remember it being creepy, but by todays standards, wow. Creepy. 😅
Haha :)
Could just as well be that today's standards are the creepy ones.
