It's beautiful how hazel tries to solve the porblem in the opening scene and ends up solving the whole thing in the end. This deserves all the attention. Such a good representation!
Joseph has faced "the worst" in his home country, to move further back he has nothing but the wall. Hence, he handles everything much peacefully, a rugged behavior - only when needed. Great short!

As children we forget how anyone did wrong to us .. so easily . Both parties forgive each others wrongdoings so easily. I don't know how we lose that as adults.
Sorry, I disagree. To me it seems he was hiding his hurt to try to get them to stop bullying him. And sometimes, what happens to a child can lead to long-term psychological scars that take years/decades of active effort to heal.

This kind of reminds me of when I was in the 6th grade in 1978 or 1979. We had this mean and very strict teacher. There was a new girl from Vietnam . She was always quiet and very shy. There were 2 kids behind her teasing her. The girl walked to the teachers desk crying - full of tears. The teacher told her to go to the restroom and wash her face. Once the girl left the teacher screamed at the 2 bullies saying "How dare you pick on that poor girl... " She then yelled at all of us about how we should be more welcoming to people from other countries and how many of them have it rough to try to learn a new language and start a new and better life. At the time I didn't put 2 and 2 together to think about the Vietnam war just 4 years from then. Looking back the teacher was strict...but she wasn't mean.
I think that today the strict no violence policies in many US public school systems are better than we had it in the 60's and 70's. Some teachers would even laugh at the small boys who were mercilessly picked on by boys twice our size. A few times I had to just give up in massive frustration, and slug a bully hard in the face repeatedly, to make the point that further bullying would have consequences, at least with me. I was smart enough to take action within shouting distance of a teacher (and I didn't always win while sending a clear message), and at least I didn't get in trouble when the bully said I started it, and I pointed out that the bully started it six months or so before. Finally I had a big growth spurt and lifted weights for two years, effectively ending me being an easy target, but many children aren't so lucky. I was really impressed with the quiet but effectively and minimally violent way the new boy was able to demonstrate that you do NOT want to escalate violence against him. And you could see how even with all the evidence, how clueless the teacher was to actually control the bully without clear and uncompromising policies toward bullying.
She led that boy on. Teachers must be very careful with gullible minds. Nowadays there's too much mental instability, corrupt TV shaping our children's minds and behaviors and faulty parenting at home. Nice ending tied up in a little bow, but this movie's sobering message about gun control, weapons in the home within a child's reach, and how violence creeps into a child's heart at such an early age without conflict resolution and personal interaction skills, shows things could've gone way south.
This made me think on when in 1965 I was the only black boy in a private boys school I was bullied. Became school fencing champion and found the connection between boxing and fencing. My best friend from school and I still talk at least once a month.
Glad you still have your friends. Went to a small parochial school. All white. When I was in 8th grade we finally got our first black student. He was quite popular. He must have had a field day. We all wanted to hang out with him because he was 'different', and he was very nice.
The story shows that good always wins over bad. The new boy displayed patience, humility and a great sense of maturity despite the attacks of the other classmates.

Loved all 3 of these short films. I can't believe you can say so much in 15 minutes. The Silent Child was especially touching. I cried at the end when she tells her she loves her. Hazel gave me a few laughs. Joseph was mature in the way he handled the bully. Love how that film went back and forth to his memories of his dad. Awesome!
I was a foreign student at Carysfort National School in Dublin at the age of 5 (1997-2000) and this film took me back to those years. Some of my classmates did not like me much and some even had the audacity to say mean things, but my overall experience was good. I liked those times
Joseph has character He knows the other two are weak students He knows violence is not the answer He managed to change all that TEACHERS and PARENTS should know that weak students prefer to cause trouble than admit their weakness TEACHERS should help them improve and gain confidence Period!!!
Bruh, it is the strong students that cause trouble, weaklings that are minding their own business are the frickin victims. Parents and teachers can't help, a boomer like you wouldn't know, but have you ever heard about,'grassing' or 'snitching', all that is going to do is cause more unrest and troubles. So please don't talk about things you have absolutely no clue about.

It really points up how seriously children in under developed countries take the opportunity for a good education and how flippant children in first world countries treat it. Perhaps we should seriously consider eliminating free education.
Everything is so well done, the shots, right from the beginning with a focus on the new kid's neck, beautifully filmed. The timing of the 2 separate blasts is creative. Hollywood could learn from this. The script is great, not overdone unlike mainstream. The actors finish it off well. The details make it worth re-watching. Top notch.
excellent picture of what actually happens in a classroom, and how kids can usually work their issues out by themselves : ) Thumbs up for this lovely story!
It's not what actually happens in a classroom, and bullying is not a group of kids having issues that they can 'work out by themselves'. Bullying is deliberate torment and singling out of one person and it is rarely resolved in the way depicted in this video. It is a nice film to watch but do not confuse it with real life school plz.
Oh my God, it is a wonderful movie that has no expiration date, and we are seeing this now, after 12 years have passed, and it is still interesting and of high quality. 💗🇲🇦😭

This short shows how life can be tough, hard, but life will also build confidence, happiness, friendships, and strength. Get back up, try again, and do not give up!
What a wonderfully written story I absolutely loved it. I fell in live with all the characters and even teared up when they worked out there differences. ..simply beautiful!!!
Great story. Laughter does cure a lot. When ever my husband and I get into a yelling match with each other, my African Grey parrot will start yelling obscenities. We start laughing so hard that we forget what we are mad about.
oh no. no no. never ever. if we talk to an asian teacher like that, the teacher will talk to our asian parents and im telling you. you do not want to get in trouble when you have asian parents. they gonno beat the shit out of you
Well, a lot of Western parents used to be like that too. We would get the crap beaten out of us. Then, along came the 60's that started a slippery slope. Some changes were very good, but some very bad. The whole idiotic, 'self - esteem' movement back in the 80's really put a lot of bad ideas out there. Now, we have people like Bill Gates supporting super idiotic things like, 'equitable math', that basically says teaching math to get the right answers is, 'white supremacy.' Like, 'brown people' are too stupid to learn math properly. Gates, and these educators are a bunch of pathetic, racist goons. Here, in this film they show a wonderful father/teacher teaching math. God forbid the crazed leftists deem this film 'oppressive', because this poor, ignorant black teacher didn't teach his kids they could make up any old answer to the math problems if they felt like it. After all, THEY know how math is just too darn difficult for 'brown people.' God, I hate the 'SJW', 'woke' crowd. Actually, it's all the big fat CEO's, and others giving in to the 'woke' indoctrination crowd that make me more sick.

Awesome!
Ya silent child was really amzing

I was a foreign student at Carysfort National School in Dublin at the age of 5 (1997-2000) and this film took me back to those years. Some of my classmates did not like me much and some even had the audacity to say mean things, but my overall experience was good. I liked those times
Feb 2021, and those kids must be past college now! Brilliant acting from all the cast, particularly Olutunji. So charming.
Joseph has character He knows the other two are weak students He knows violence is not the answer He managed to change all that TEACHERS and PARENTS should know that weak students prefer to cause trouble than admit their weakness TEACHERS should help them improve and gain confidence Period!!!
yes..this
Bruh, it is the strong students that cause trouble, weaklings that are minding their own business are the frickin victims. Parents and teachers can't help, a boomer like you wouldn't know, but have you ever heard about,'grassing' or 'snitching', all that is going to do is cause more unrest and troubles. So please don't talk about things you have absolutely no clue about.
Teachwrs can only try. God help us.
You are absolutely alright🙌

... Some people enjoy responding to the characters, script, plot, etc. in a video.
Is that ... OK with you? Have we your permission to react and respond--to get a little bit invested in the video?

This shows how diffrent the contries are compared to eachother.
It’s not countries,it’s different cultures, different races and different looks. The world hasn’t moved on and accepted people for who they are.

Top notch.
the little boy in the role of Christian, looks vaguely like the one in "Billy Elliott". Is he? I wonder when this video was made.
The white bully kid kinda looks like a young version of rick astley

Meanwhile the black kid looks like KSI as a child
Iactually thought the same thing
excellent picture of what actually happens in a classroom, and how kids can usually work their issues out by themselves : ) Thumbs up for this lovely story!
Daniela yeah how kids curse all the time
I agree Daniela you go girl
Daniela you are a boomer who has no idea what was wrong with this video
Daniela ok boomer
It's not what actually happens in a classroom, and bullying is not a group of kids having issues that they can 'work out by themselves'. Bullying is deliberate torment and singling out of one person and it is rarely resolved in the way depicted in this video. It is a nice film to watch but do not confuse it with real life school plz.
"private conversation " ..
I wonder when teachers will respect our conversation
I've alaways loved that way of talking ;)

When I was in my society I felt happy and was friends with my classmates too. Since I am in France , I don’t talk to my classmates , I feel isolated , I am stressed bcz of the language barrier and I don’t look happy. Watching this movie it reminds me about how I feel. I am afraid I will never fit in..
Why did I cried and laughed with joy at the same time. This was so surreal. His smile is precious😭❤️❤️

Great story. Laughter does cure a lot. When ever my husband and I get into a yelling match with each other, my African Grey parrot will start yelling obscenities. We start laughing so hard that we forget what we are mad about.

I am dying laughing when I read this comment.. so relevant!!
It would have resulted in a possible death :')
After all, THEY know how math is just too darn difficult for 'brown people.'
God, I hate the 'SJW', 'woke' crowd. Actually, it's all the big fat CEO's, and others giving in to the 'woke' indoctrination crowd that make me more sick.
That was me in elementary when I moved, people kept messing how I looked like, so they tested me until they saw the real me..
Then, we became homies
one time one of the weaker kids pissed me off and I pushed him up against the bus wall I feel bad. :(
