Music video from Rages YT Channel ruclips.net/video/bWXazVhlyxQ/видео.html Lyrics to the song. genius.com/Rage-against-the-machine-killing-in-the-name-lyrics Here's why they wrote this song 30 years ago. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_in_the_Name
killing in the name is so played out. they have SO many better songs that would be perfect, i.e. bulls on parade, bomb track, guerilla radio, wake up, housin'. why does everyone go straight to killing in the name of?
System of a down is dope. You can randomly pick any song by them and it's going to be fire. You guys will like Rage against the machine too. They add a hip hop sound into their rock music.
Serj is one of the most talented, underrated musicians today. His album Elect the Dead, he created himself.. meaning he played each instrument, laid the vocals, mixed and mastered. Insanity
System of a Down is such a unique sound. They bring together metal and Armenian traditional music and it's just an amazing outcome. There's no one else quite like them.
My favourite thing they incorporate is the kinda childlike chants. Almost like kids' nursery rhymes or playground chanting weaved into metal songs. Fucking genius. The end of this song is one example, and 'Vicinity of Obscenity' is another. "Banana banana banana banana terracotta banana banana banana terracotta pie". Insane lyrics for a rock/metal song, but fits so well, and has an eerie childlike nursery rhyme kinda vibe to it. All of it goes hard though. Can anyone explain to me what the phrase "Eating seeds is a pastime activity" means in the lyrics for Toxicity? I've always wondered!
You guys have such a natural, pure reaction to this song, I really enjoy watching people experiencing legendary music for the first time. Some folks can feel it and others can't. It's great to see genuine reactions
"Somewhere between the sacred silence and sleep...disorder" Well, that sums up society pretty well if I may say so. One of the strongest lyrics of all time if you think about it.
Conversion, software versión 7.0 (Today music is used to bring ideas to the people softly/to upload people with knowledge without them realizing it [instead of converting people with violence as in the past] to convert them into good people. 7 is the number of God.) Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub. (Like a Rolling Stone-- wandering through life without having the conviction to build upon the stable foundation of Jesús's teachings, life will have a swirling chaotic appearance.) Eating seeds is a pass-time activity. (The many temptations and traps set for us are meant to weed-out weaker peoples' offspring from the population.) The toxicity of our city. (The evil which constantly grows among populations as random genetic mutations create disfunctional people and hedonism corrupts people in times of peace and prosperity. ) More wood for their fires, loud neighbors. (Another metaphor for the slow-motion genocide used to guide population growth. Loud neighbors being bad people, especially those who fight with their own families. Neighbors referring to the fact that we all share this planet.) Flashlight reveries... (Revering/worshipping/paying attention to an artificial light source such as fame, wealth, ideology rather than worshipping The Sun/The Son of God.) ...caught in the headlights of a truck. (A death sentence for those distracted by flashing lights.) You, how do you own the world? (How is it possible to control the population in such a way as to create peace and prosperity, while also protecting the planet and colonizing space?) How do you own disorder? (How can someone convert the population to follow Jesus when people are rebellious and their random genetic mutations cause them to slowly become useless without some type of selective pressure to guide their evolution?) Sacred Silence (Perfect Order. Those who have acheived economic liberation and moral enlightenment become crystalized, as their desire for sex and adventure disappears, and they hide themselves away from the people as to not create jealousy nor spread their crystalization.) Sleep (The darkness of the absolute chaos of nature without any conscious beings.) Now, somewhere between the Sacred Silence and Sleep. (Humanity today--the place between the perfect order of The Illuminated Ones and the Absolute Chaos of Nature. ☯️ The place where the action happens, sex/reproduction, adventure/discovery. The place where new forms of being are born and rise.) Disorder. (The purposeful introduction of Chaos to balance out Humanities natural inclination to Order our world. The balance between Chaos and Order.) When I became The Sun.... (When I achieved the enlightenment and wealth which put me above humanity and made me a true source of illumination for them. When i became a Son of God/an embassador for the growth of the consciousness of The Universe through human evolution.) ...I shone life into the man's hearts. (I illuminated/I converted softly. I showed people how to awaken their spirits so they would create technologies and families and mass movements which grow humanity's glory.)
System Of A Down musics are like a shattered machine with its pieces all spread around the floor and as the music continues the pieces are mending together forming a beautiful chaos organized.

Rap is poetry but metal is emotion, and that resonates.
Plenty of emotion in rap too, but metal has cathartic aggression that’s hard to match elsewhere.
there is space for emotion in rap, just like there is space for poetry in metal...
