I'm Comanche, the tribe gave us members a chance to watch this in theatres in the Comanche language a week before it hit Hulu. After the screening there was a q&a with the actors which was pretty cool, and to top it all off the movie was pretty awesome!
@@bladetyler4721 I have a friend who is from the Tohono Oʼodham reservation outside where I grew up in Tucson Arizona, he was the one who turned me on to this even before the first trailer went out, we both LOVED it, and just like these reviewers he noted about the location before I caught on to it either.
Fun fact: her whistling at the end to attract the predator is considered very taboo in Native American culture and some Asian and Hispanic cultures. It is believed that whistling at night attracts evil spirits. However, at that point Naru WAS whistling to summon evil upon an evil man (the poacher) so she did it knowingly. Little details like that make this movie great!
I love how this Predator killed its prey based on how they attacked him. The snake tried to bite him with its fangs.. so he killed it with his two-prong blade. He killed the bear with his bare hands. If they used arrows against him.. he fought back with arrows. The soldier threw a net on him.. so he used his own net against him. I could be over-analyzing things. But I thought that was badass.
No you pretty much understand the Predator's code of honor If your prey uses a distance weapon you can use a distance weapon against it but if it wants to fight you hand to hand you have to oblige
Snake showed it could be sensed, wolf showed that it could harmed, bear proved it could be toppled, europeans proved it could be outsmarted, natives showed it could be killed
@@emackenzie What you said doesnt really have anything to do with my point. They managed to still catch it with the bait which constitutes as outsmarting it. Outsmarting ≠ winning the fight
@@Don-fw3nv they didn't outsmart it, it didn't fall for their bait and they fell for more of _its_ traps than it did theirs. They got absolutely slaughtered because they didn't outsmart it, they treated it like another animal. They completely underestimated it.
The fact that the Predator had to go "invisible" to kill Taabe shows how skillful he was. He wasn't super strong or anything, he was just a formidable fighter that was able to keep up with the Predator in a hand to hand combat. Sadly there are no rules in this fight so at the end the Predator was too durable and had way better tech to defeat him. This movie shows that although the Predator is superior in speed, strength and tech he is still as hopeless as anyone when fighting against an opponent with superior skills.
I mean, he caught the arrow mid-air at point blank range....I don't think he NEEDED to go invisible. Taabe was out of options, and the Predator still had many.
@@ThatSamoanGuy Predator couldn't land a proper hit on Taabe until he went invisible. Taabe was kicking Predator's ass by even taking the arrows that the Predator already had in him and shooting them back again. So yeah, Predator had to go invisible to defeat Taabe because he was already taking too much damage at an alarming speed from Taabe. Predator recognized that Taabe had superior skills so he had to approach Taabe another way and that was by going invisible.
Weapon tech, combat skill, physical body.... One thing many people left out is viciousness. The mentality to strike without hesitation & the determination to explore and exploit everything available. What Naru lack of, she made it even with extra viciousness.
@@chengkuoklee5734 and it's not like she lacked a lot either. In fact, she was perhaps the most complete warrior in the movie, and that's including the Predator too. She was the smartest, fastest, most observant, a better tracker, a cook, she knew medicine, knew how to hunt with only her brother slightly surpassing her, her combat skills were unmatched (maybe by her brother tho), adapted easily to changes and had a trained guard dog. No one else in the series had half of what she had. Her brother is probably the only one who is closest to her in skill.
@@arnaldovazquez9917You must not forget he was definitely very young ( Predator ) and probably recently finished the initiation or maybe not even that - by killing the Xenomorph and he probably visited the Earth for the first time. He showed some recklesness and less experience by falling for the hunters trap and broke the honor code by making himself cloaked during a fight and killing the unarmed wounded, Predators must give their opponent a melee fight to the death if the prey wishes so. But i understand they made this Predator younger, because if they would make the Predator more experienced it wouldnt be fair. Anyways it is a really good movie, my second favorite after the first Predator. Hope they will continue with the franchise in similar way.
The government gave _rewards_ to people who slaughtered bison because of how much the natives relied on them. Natives used every part of the animal, so trappers made sure to use very little to none of it, just to fuck with them. I'm so glad I know my heritage as a 4th generation immigrant. So happy my ancestors had nothing to do with the savagery of the early colonial days.
@@MontgomeryWenis that actually wasn't until later. Mostly with the US government after it was formed. In this film, those were fur trappers slaughtering Buffalo for their hides. There was a lot of good money in that back then.

Really good parallels in this movie. Best one for me is: Brother finished what his sister started (the mountain lion kill) Sister finished what her brother started (the predator kill)
YEs... I love how the Predator is also a young predator, it is confirmed by director to be it's first time on earth... and seems much less experienced than the original films Predator.... So like Naru the Predator is trying to prove it's self for the first time on a hunt trying to bring back a big trophy.

I love how you see Naru improve as the story progresses. She has multiple encounters with the Predator before the final fight so she observed and learned how to take it down by turning it own tech against it. 👍
It's also awesome that they establish that Naru is very skilled with her first scene, she's just hesitant. But as the movie goes on she gets more and more confident in what she can do.
Fun fact! The dog used in the movie was originally a shelter dog, that the creators adopted and spent time training. While they said it was a little bit of a challenge at first since she was a grown adult dog but they stuck through it and all fell in love with her. This was probably one of the sleeper hits of the year, the executives at 20th century made a big mistake by not putting this in the movie theaters! And just by that little cartoon ending it shows three predator ships coming through the atmosphere That's opening up for a sequel! The actress that played "Naru" Amber Midthunder did a hell of a job in this movie.
@@NkosanaMakhubele Predator, Predator 2, and Predators were all solid. The only misfire in the standalone franchise was The Predator, but even that was enjoyable just because of how stupid it was. Almost felt like Army of Darkness with how silly it got.
To me that scene where she screams after killing the predator is somehow even more powerful than the end where she brings his head, despite not even knowing why they scream after killing their prey also amber midhuner who plays naru was dope in this, that girl really knew how to throw an axe she had practice before even knowing that she gonna be cast for this movie

This makes my heart happy that y'all are watching this. I'm Native American and it's so cool to see our representation on the screen and get such great reviews also. But the part where she finds the skinned bison, that wasn't the Predators doing, it was the settlers that did that. They really did that so the Natives couldn't eat, they wanted to eliminate the food source 😔 great reaction guys 🙌🏽❤️
The buffalo hunt wasn't till the 1800's well after this movie setting. Also it was President Grant that ordered the slaughter of the buffalo...technically not the settlers.

the Predators tech here is 250 years before the one we saw face Arnie. They have had 250 years to advance, they added the directional shoulder cannon for the tri-dot laser over the static helm mounted guide, the cannon not fires energy blasts over metalic bolts, the '87 predator has a better mask(and vision modes?) and camo. I love how they avoided the trap of just making it "bigger and flashy" cos thats not how it would be, they just made the 1719 predator more brutal, the '87 pred was a hunter and stalker, the 1719 predator is a feral brawler.
Conclusion is that this predator is undergoing the ritual hunting to be "blooded" and gain access to the higher level equipments and mating Probably it's first time on earth
While it’s logical that you’d have an advancement of tech over the years, it doesn’t mean that’s why this Yautja’s equipment seems primitive. I’ve seen a lot of people say that’s why the weapons it uses are because of lack of technological advancement, but seem to gloss over the fact that it arrived in a spaceship (interstellar travel), has a cloaking device, and has those flying mines. I just think it chose these weapons because it looks like a tribal species/clan and we’ve seen Yautja fight on, what they think is, equal grounds when it comes to them and their prey.
The net kill was my favorite!! The shield opening up and chopping off the guy's head and cutting down the tree was very cool!! There hasn't been many movies lately that I have immediately re-watched but I saw this the night before watching with you two and it was so worth it!!
What I loved about the shield cutting decapitating that guy and cutting down the tree is the brief moment where the Predator stopped and looked at it, like "badass." I always think of the Yautja as being big space rednecks and that moment gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.
yea I did the same things, multiple scenes in this are crazzyyy intense and frantic, bloody, stylized perfectly, very much in relation to Predators we love ( 1 and 2) !! well done!!! bravooooo to the creators for bieng a worthy hunt of a Predator movie!!!!👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻🔥🍿
I love watching characters overcome like impossible shit by just being smart and gutsy. This is what made the first Predator so good, it was just like this underdog survival horror in nature against this super alien hunter (which was especially awesome that it managed to make Arnold Schwarzenegger seem like the underdog XD), the premise is like inherently dramatically rewarding.
Arnies was far more "realistic" he was beat and broken by the end , where as Amber took no damage and just walked back into camp as tho it was no big deal.
@@projectpat8807 Did you not see the original Predator, where it kills itself by standing right under the counterweight of Dutch's trap _after_ spotting and stepping over the tripwire?

Like Nikki, my immediate thought was "if puppy dies, we riot!" This movie was so good. I loved that Naru played to her strength, which was intellect. She strategized how to defeat him, by (as you said) watching him. She knew she wouldn't defeat him with physical strength, since his was far superior. Amazing. Excellent reaction ❤️
it was a good movie but they tainted it with a few gaping plot holes, the bear trap would have crushed her bones and she would not be able to walk, the predator catching her in mid air and slamming her into the ground would have rendered her immobile, lets not forget he punched a bear in the head and killed it and lastly even as an unblooded he used his spear gun with great proficiency and then forgot how it works conveniently, the explanation of naru observing it was fine but it just does not make sense how he forgot how it works after using it so many times in the movie. good movie overall, could have been great if not for the ending and the retconing of already established storylines in the predator universe.
@@sanjaysanj5603 I don't believe it was a bear trap, too small, it was probably for rabbit, or smaller animals so it is feasible it wouldn't break her bone. As for the spear gun, did it know the guidance system was within range? It is plausible that it didn't and the tracker would probably have to be within a certain range to control it (Like our guided missiles). The slam, yeah, that wouldv'e hurt like hell but you can see it did not use the amount of force it did on the bear. All movies you have to suspend belief to some degree anyway. I also don't think those would be plot holes but more plot armor????
Knowing how dogs react against threats against it's owners , should've been the first one to die . If some people really " love " dogs or any animal , shouldn't have them caged in a house .
31:44 For those not aware of the importance of her whistling: In Indigenous American tribes, including the Comanche, the dark/night was where a lot of evils roamed, be they unwanted spirits, evil demons, and the like. One of the ways that you could attract those evils was to whistle in the night, so the fact that she deliberately gave a long, two tone taunting whistle means that she intended to draw the evils to her, but as she was disguised by the cooling medicine, the only thing that evil would see was the trapper. It's a very subtle moment, but I was all "that's AWESOME they included that!" in the theater :)
I think the Predator was simply working its way up the food chain, trying to figure out what is the best creature on this 'new planet' to hunt. My two cents. Keep up the great work guys. Love your channel!
Nikki is the only reactor so far to catch that the Predator swinging that blade was close enough to cut Naru's hair. Also, for the people that have a problem with Naru pulling the predator over with the rope, watch it again. That's why she kneecapped him first....
The Predator supposedly weighs around 500lbs and is strong enough to wrestle a bear. I'm not convinced that a small girl her size can physically pull down a monster like that even with its knee injury. I didn't mind it too much and I was willing suspend disbelief, but I'm not convinced that moment was actually realistic.
@@yannym4605 That depends on its size and strength. Again, the Predator was strong and balanced enough to pull and toss an 1,000lbs+ grizzly bear with just one arm despite already having a wound on its leg from fighting a wolf.
I'm Native American on my mother's side and I gave this 8/10. They premiered the movie at San Diego Comic Con and the audience loved it! They gave it a 10 minute standing ovation. Dakota Beavers, the actor who played Taabe, Naru's brother, said in an interview that he was happy to see Native Americans being represented in a more positive light.

You might get a kick out of this. The lead actress is the daughter of David Midthunder who has over 60 IMDB entries going back to the 80's and one of his most recent one was 1883, the Yellowstone prequel where he played a Comanche warrior
It’s super poetic how Naru helped her brother finish his hunt by wounding the cougar beforehand, And Taabe helped his sister finish her hunt by wounding the Predator beforehand 🔥👊👏
I watched this in Comanche with the subtitles and really enjoyed it. I liked how they told a simple story, that utilized parts of the format of the first film. I also loved that she wasn’t some perfect character she had to learn and work on her skills. She took losses to learn. The ending has very disturbing implications if we accept that the gun we saw is the same one from Predator 2.

This movie was fire! 🔥 The setting and the character development of Naru is what makes it a masterpiece, and in my opinion it’s on pair with the first one. Love how emotional Nikki gets at the end. @@galvinstanley3235 at the end of the credits you can see the mothership going down to the tribe so people theorize that the predators might’ve traded with the tribe to get it or something. Maybe as like a token from earth.
so many brilliant combat choices in this movie. Naru's rope attaching to her axe to bring it back to her, naru baiting the predator bc he leaps from tree to tree, then her making him cut his own arm off lol even that one guy when he hit with his spear but didn't leave a mark so he immediately went for the foot, lastly MVP Taabes close range bow shooting, retrieving and reshooting. Keep sharing, reviewing, and rating and talking about sequels so we can get more to this story and eventually work up to more deadly predators. Let’s go for the ride and see how they follow up. Good movie with Prey! Now let’s keep it going guys
Basically, I think the way the story goes is that the predator's goal was to kill it's way to the top of the predatorial ladder. It first starts with the snake, then the wolf, then the bear. It's next predator was man and after it got to man, it worked It's way up the warrior food chain until it couldn't go any further and was bested by the main character, a.k.a. the greatest warrior. A.K.A. The greatest predator.
Fun fact: The dog in the movie is an American Dingo named Coco which was "borrowed" from an animal shelter for what was meant to be a few minutes of screen time. It was supposed to be killed off in the movie. However Coco had so much energy and charisma as an actor that the producers insisted that the dog's part was rewritten to make it the star that it is in the film. After the filming Coco found a forever home and was adopted by a professional animal trainer and wrangler for animals in movies.
This was the best Predator movie in the series. The overall concept, cinematography, fight scenes were original, the doggo, the score and loved that they made the fiercest warrior a girl. 10/10, no cap
I agree to Everything you guys said. It was a great and enjoyable movie. The actors acted great, it wasn't real hard to understand, Naru and her dog were awesome. Prey is one of my favorite movies ive seen ln a long time.
I enjoyed how she used it's weapons against it and made it get rid of, or break all it's weapons except the gun/crossbow and she positioned him in front of his helmet
One slept on thing i noticed is that climax of her final fight started with her saying i’m smarter than a beaver and it ended with her killing him at a beaver dam!!
Cool connection to another predator movie is the flintlock pistol that Naru uses and throws to the chief at the end of the movie. It is the same flintlock given to Mike Harrigan by the elder predator, Greyback, at the end of Predator 2.
My favorite thing about the film is a parallel between Naru and the Yautja. While working his way up the food chain to Naru, he observes her being threatened by a more formidable opponent time after time, revealing an even more challenging and formidable opponent with every obstacle she encounters. As for Naru, each encounter gave her the opportunity to learn more about this mysterious entity, what it can do and what drives it.
WE FINALLY HAVE A GENUINELY AMAZING PREDATOR MOVIE SINCE THE FIRST ONE!!!! Don’t get me wrong, I really like Predator 2 and Predators, but this one doesn’t just beat them, it kills them, rips out their skulls and spines, and hangs them on its wall. Not only did it have intense action sequences, but both the director and writer managed to perfectly balance that tightrope of tension by both showing that this Predator is a truly terrifying and formidable threat while also not making him OP with his weaponry, thereby giving the people a fighting chance. On top of that I absolutely LOVED the portrayal of the Comanche Nation. Showing how they were and still are some of the best fighters, best horse riders and best hunters that have ever lived, while also showing how close knit of a community they are. I really loved how they went back and forth between English and Comanche when speaking with each other, next time I see this movie I’m watching the Comanche Cut where they speak Comanche throughout the whole movie. But my favorite part of this movie is seeing the story of Naru. She is honestly one of the most tenacious and badass characters I have seen in action or sci-fi movies in a long time. Amber Midthunder managed to be as much of a badass as freaking Arnold Schwarzenegger! And thank god they didn’t kill that adorable dog 🐕!
Prey in my opinion is arguably the best film of the year and of all time despite it being on a streaming platform. Let's take a look at WHY it succeeded and why other IPs (aliens, terminator, etc.) should sit themselves down and take heavy notes: Prey instead of rehashing the same ol' formula with a bunch of randos with guns or set in an urban environment with a bunch of people with guns. It instead goes for something simple: It takes place where there are no modern guns, explosions, tanks, etc. Nope, you got bows, arrows, flintlock rifles and pistols. And both the hunter and prey and vice versa both have to struggle and understand each other before hashing it out in an epic showdown. And to top all of this off not only bring in a female protagonist, but a female protagonist that slowly develops her understanding over the course of the film instead of having everything given to her on day one. Let her struggle, fail. But also understand, adept and grow so that in the end she can truly take on the Predator one on one. Established IPs for YEARS have not yet understand why people aren't liking their films now (Terminator, Aliens, etc.). It's not the crazy explosions, or the "OH MY GOD" moments that make us scream in terror or cheer to our hearts content... it's because these IPs go off the deep end and do something so stupid that it doesn't make quite sense in the end or it just becomes a generic science fiction adventure with iconic monsters. dan trachtenberg the director of this film... you sir are a hero to established IPs everywhere and I hope to god Hollywood looks at your film and go: "Hm maybe we were idiots all along" and follow in your footsteps and the building blocks of this film.
@@stephenwalker972 The Batman is a comic book IP film. Prey is a science fiction film and I'm not going to get into that hot debate about which "comic book ip film is the greatest" because you have to look at the history of comic book films and see where it went right, wrong and what brought the genre back to prominence in film. Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to Top Gun which is a military action/adventure quite frankly Top Gun: Maverick showed films how to do sequels properly if given the time and respect Everything, everywhere all at once is a new film that doesn't have anything comparable to. I will say though it's an enjoyable new film that is different and different is always nice to see.
One thing the Predators always adhere to, is respect of the prey. I don't think the end credits are depicting a coming revenge, but rather two other things... 1) That Earth is now properly marked as a world that offers great hunting; 2) That they're coming to collect the body and technology to avoid cultural contamination, and to possibly congratulate the prey, which they've done in the past. They don't take their "losses" personally. They know what they're getting into, and they accept the outcome. Hunting something that can hunt you, carries risk, and it's not personal.
@@Hawaiianbro10 I'm not 100% sure, I read that the comics are not 100% canon so they might have taken the back story of how Greyback gets the pistol in a different direction
The flower mentioned in the movie actually works mostly the way it's described in the movie (though a bit exaggerated). But, it can't lower your body temperature enough to be "invisible" to a predator. Also, while you can hold your breath, you can't stop your heartbeat, and it should be able to hear that. That said, if your body temp is low enough, and you're not breathing, but your heart is pounding (out of fear) it will probably read you as being in shock and dying, and decide you're not worth killing. It reacted to the man's scream on instinct, not because of any specific desire to kill him (except to maybe finish the kill).
What made Naru a more Superior Warrior than that particular Predator, was her knowledge and mastery of her environment. She knew what to use to her advantage with what was around her, she could spot what others tended to miss, and she used her adversary's arrogance against him.
This movie was soooo good!! Especially loved how this was from the perspective of the Comanche*, and how they portrayed the colonizers as dirty/monstrous.
The Comanche were, without a doubt the most brutal of tribes. Raiding other tribes, stealing livestock, killing women and children and taking captives as slaves. It was the Comanche that forced the Apache south until they had to make a treaty with the Spanish for their protection. For a tribe to face a predator ..... they chose the right one. The old underdog to hero against overwhelming odds is more than a bit overdone. The dog was amazing, by far the best actor, and period correct as well.
@@4Kandlez Yeah..no one really wants to hear that. Everyone likes to blame settlers and US military (who definitely played a part) in removing native Americans. The Comanche were far more effective. They killed off French and Spanish would be settlers and other tribes of native Americans. That's why that area remained open for so long and took so long to settle.

This is for me the best of all the Predator movies, the plot line was brilliant, anything Native American culture is a winner with me, the cinematography was magnificent. The cast dis a great job, they finally got the franchise back on track, massive kudos to all involved.
Also this is the first Predator sequel to feel like it earns those callbacks to the original film. Also I love the redesign for what they’ve now dubbed as the Feral Hunter.
The ships at the end are the Predator overlords or watchers coming to collect the fallen Predator and his gear. They aren't coming for revenge or A fight. That is also likely how they got the gun to give to Danny Glovers character at the end of Predator 2.
Yes!!!! So glad you all are doing this one! Being a long time fan of these franchise i have gone through different emotions about this version before it came out. Once I saw it, I'm proud to say its up there with the first and second predator movies!
I have huge respect and admiration for Native American warriors because they have reputable prowess and fearlessness, so when I heard Prey would feature the Predator throwing down with the Comanche I was stoked cus I got 2 of my passions in one movie. The scene with Nuru’s brother fighting the Predator blow for blow was glorious.
I wish that one warrior who mocked her weapon had lived to see her use it against the French, and then he would say "Okay, I take it back. I've gotta get me one of those."
To be fair, she tied a rope to it because she kept missing. He probably hit what he was aiming at and had to retrieve it, and the corpse, at the same time.
The fact that the feral predator can decompose deceased beings with that misty substance was an insane thing to witness, and he used it to hold trophies from each of his kills. Insane
There's no direct correlation, as Billy in the original movie was part Sioux rather than Comanche, but I liked how the pouch Naru used to keep the orange totsiyaa flower in looked similar to the pouch Billy had around his neck.

Fun fact: her whistling at the end to attract the predator is considered very taboo in Native American culture and some Asian and Hispanic cultures.
But i understand they made this Predator younger, because if they would make the Predator more experienced it wouldnt be fair. the Predators tech here is 250 years before the one we saw face Arnie.
If we consider the AVP movies canon they had laser/plasma focused weaponry at the top of the freaking piramides. Which predates this era.
Conclusion is that this predator is undergoing the ritual hunting to be "blooded" and gain access to the higher level equipments and mating
Probably it's first time on earth
They were also a different race the one in 87 was a Hunter Yautja , while this one was a Feral Yautja so they hunted differently.
I just think it chose these weapons because it looks like a tribal species/clan and we’ve seen Yautja fight on, what they think is, equal grounds when it comes to them and their prey.

it was a good movie but they tainted it with a few gaping plot holes, the bear trap would have crushed her bones and she would not be able to walk, the predator catching her in mid air and slamming her into the ground would have rendered her immobile, lets not forget he punched a bear in the head and killed it and lastly even as an unblooded he used his spear gun with great proficiency and then forgot how it works conveniently, the explanation of naru observing it was fine but it just does not make sense how he forgot how it works after using it so many times in the movie. good movie overall, could have been great if not for the ending and the retconing of already established storylines in the predator universe.

@@sanjaysanj5603 I don't believe it was a bear trap, too small, it was probably for rabbit, or smaller animals so it is feasible it wouldn't break her bone.

If I’m not mistaken this predator is from a different clan than the one that came out in the Arnold movie. That’s why it looked different.
Where are you getting that information?
Close enough, different part of the homeworld. It's like the difference between an Irishman and a man from the Congo.
@@williamroper5422 the director, Dan Trachtenberg, has stated as much in interviews.
This was the best Predator movie in the series. The overall concept, cinematography, fight scenes were original, the doggo, the score and loved that they made the fiercest warrior a girl. 10/10, no cap
Turned Naru's war cry into an alarm and I wake the fuck up every time. Thanks, girl!
Ive watched over 10 Prey reactions and yals was easily the best one yet! the appreciation and homage ya described made it even better! ✊🏾
I agree to Everything you guys said. It was a great and enjoyable movie. The actors acted great, it wasn't real hard to understand, Naru and her dog were awesome. Prey is one of my favorite movies ive seen ln a long time.
Prey had us cheering, laughing and even crying a little bit. Great reaction as always!!!
the beavers when they get back to their dam : the fuck happened here 😂😭
I enjoyed how she used it's weapons against it and made it get rid of, or break all it's weapons except the gun/crossbow and she positioned him in front of his helmet
I’m only 5 mins in and Steven has me dying 🤣 bows, arrows…against a predator?…shhhhhiiii 🤣
One slept on thing i noticed is that climax of her final fight started with her saying i’m smarter than a beaver and it ended with her killing him at a beaver dam!!
Yesssss! I’ve been waiting love y’all!!
Cool connection to another predator movie is the flintlock pistol that Naru uses and throws to the chief at the end of the movie. It is the same flintlock given to Mike Harrigan by the elder predator, Greyback, at the end of Predator 2.
love the content as always. positive vibes your way. 🦎🦎
"that was not a normal being who did that" yeah... it was frenchmen
Let's take a look at WHY it succeeded and why other IPs (aliens, terminator, etc.) should sit themselves down and take heavy notes:
Prey instead of rehashing the same ol' formula with a bunch of randos with guns or set in an urban environment with a bunch of people with guns.
Of all time? Kinda jumping the gun there.
It's a very good film and definitely my favorite predator film, but calm down buddy.
I wouldn't call it the best of the year while Everything, Everywhere, All at Once also came up this year, but this is definitely up there.
The Batman; Top gun and everything everywhere all at once say hello
@@stephenwalker972
The Batman is a comic book IP film. Prey is a science fiction film and I'm not going to get into that hot debate about which "comic book ip film is the greatest" because you have to look at the history of comic book films and see where it went right, wrong and what brought the genre back to prominence in film.
Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to Top Gun which is a military action/adventure quite frankly Top Gun: Maverick showed films how to do sequels properly if given the time and respect
Everything, everywhere all at once is a new film that doesn't have anything comparable to. I will say though it's an enjoyable new film that is different and different is always nice to see.
One thing the Predators always adhere to, is respect of the prey. I don't think the end credits are depicting a coming revenge, but rather two other things...
1) That Earth is now properly marked as a world that offers great hunting;
2) That they're coming to collect the body and technology to avoid cultural contamination, and to possibly congratulate the prey, which they've done in the past. They don't take their "losses" personally. They know what they're getting into, and they accept the outcome. Hunting something that can hunt you, carries risk, and it's not personal.
The Flintlock Pistol in the movie is the same one Greyback gave Danny Glover at the end of Predator 2
@@Hawaiianbro10 I'm not 100% sure, I read that the comics are not 100% canon so they might have taken the back story of how Greyback gets the pistol in a different direction
Your reviews are a blessing. Both of you have the best observations and reactions.
Appreciate it Francisco
It's a cougar, aka mountain lion... they're not related to lions, they are in the same family as house cats (it's like a giant house cat)
The Predator (Yautja) are trophy hunters and live and die by a strict honor code.
The Comanche were also dirty and monstrous in reality
@@4Kandlez Yeah..no one really wants to hear that. Everyone likes to blame settlers and US military (who definitely played a part) in removing native Americans. The Comanche were far more effective. They killed off French and Spanish would be settlers and other tribes of native Americans. That's why that area remained open for so long and took so long to settle.
@@4Kandlez No more so than many other peoples who've engaged in war against invading armies willing to commit atrocities of their own. How about you just lay off with the blatant racism
This is for me the best of all the Predator movies, the plot line was brilliant, anything Native American culture is a winner with me, the cinematography was magnificent.
The cast dis a great job, they finally got the franchise back on track, massive kudos to all involved.
Loved this movie!!🤩
Also this is the first Predator sequel to feel like it earns those callbacks to the original film. Also I love the redesign for what they’ve now dubbed as the Feral Hunter.
Easter Egg. The gun she gives to the chief is the same one from Predator 2 given to Danny Glover
The ships at the end are the Predator overlords or watchers coming to collect the fallen Predator and his gear. They aren't coming for revenge or A fight. That is also likely how they got the gun to give to Danny Glovers character at the end of Predator 2.
Please react to Predators, would love to see your reaction to that! Thank you so much for another great reaction.
Yes!!!! So glad you all are doing this one! Being a long time fan of these franchise i have gone through different emotions about this version before it came out. Once I saw it, I'm proud to say its up there with the first and second predator movies!
Those French guys were trappers and they were the ones that messed up all those Bison/buffalo.
Fun fact amber midthunder is experienced ax thrower (the scenes of her throwing the ax it was the actress her self) and mma fighter she was considering a career as a mma fighter before getting in to acting. Sari is Comanche for dog. The dog hasno name in the film
It's called a mountain lion, y'all.
One of my favorite things about this movie is the fact that the predators gear is more primitive but still very high tech
