- Here's a side-by-side POV comparison between Jurassic Park: The Ride and Jurassic World: The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The Jurassic Park POV was taken in 2016 right after its refurbishment. The Jurassic World POV was taken on the first day of tech rehearsals, so some changes may be made before the grand opening.
I do like the original opening better. I’m not against screens either, I love all the Universal 3D rides. Just loved the scale when those doors opened and you saw these huge dinosaurs. I was hoping they would have made new ones and added more to the beginning. I like the ending better on the new ride though. Seeing much more Dino’s and trees, looks awesome riding through. And of course the car didn’t fall in this video but the new predator cove area is lacking... it goes too long with nothing happening.
Was the car ever supposed to fall? I assume your talking about the one near when you get into the facility, where it falls down, but I've only seen it fall once
@@Margwa1984 it's supposed to fall every time but over half the time it wouldn't
@@Margwa1984 yep. Just look at other videos.
I think going so long with nothing happening builds up the momentum better. It's like you see blood and scratches all over and broken cages, but you don't see the dinosaur. Your heart races just wondering when it will jump out somewhere.
great side by side. unfortunately I like the older version better.
You can always go to Orlando. They still have it there
@@goldendiamond5151 waht? Really ? But do they also have the new one too , cuz thst would be cool
@@iaminsfiredbytrustfration8502 unfortunately not
@@goldendiamond5151 nvm then , it’s ok
I like how nothing happens from when you enter the raptor cage until midway up the lift tunnel. It's just blank walls with signage and scratch marks
@@StarryKosmik oh man, I kinda regret what I wrote earlier, have you watched the night time version? The update kinda did its justice and it felt not as bland as this video
Ever since the ride opened I was waiting for someone to upload this
uwu Exa ever since the ride opened? Lmao you talk like that was weeks ago. They just opened it like yesterday
uwu Exa I posted one the day after the soft opening!
It's not open yet, it's only on a technical opening and soft openings
They should have just fixed the original
Animatronics. You can see how much better the original ride is on theming alone. It just was neglected.
Daniel Powell yeah I wish they kept up with it. Unfortunately I heard the company who did the animatronics went out of business a long time ago and no one else really knew how to fix them?
The old animatronics were out dated amd need to be replaced. But over all but rides are the same really. Both have blad spots with no dinos. But more dinos in the end would be nice but to add the.Carno would just be copying disnys dino ride but have the Brayonx or Spino show up would be nice
@Walter White Which is why I said "I heard". Did you not read my comment?
@@RissaRambles Sarcos is still running, but I don't think they are making theme parks animatronics anymore. They do army stuff, not unlike Boston Dynamics.
Unfortunately for them, they had do a lot more to give their marketing folks something to sell. “We fixed our crappy animatronics!” isn’t really a message they want to go out with. To me, it looks like they tried to do just enough to make “newsworthy” changes, while staying within a “re-skin” budget, and had mixed results. I haven’t ridden it myself yet, but aside “aquarium”, it all felt really familiar (almost the same) even before watching this side-by-side.
Jurassic world feels kinda rushed
I think it was. They seem to of encountered many technical errors
No it's just the fact that no one remembers when they said it was just a refurb not a completely brand new ride
But you cant argue that the newer versions ending when you go up has a lot more action going on
Just like the movies. A rushed cash grab disaster
Don't even go after the movies they are great I know a lot of people have nostalgia and think that nothing can be better than jp but come on
In a way the first 30 seconds sort of reflects the comparison of these films...
One uses great looking animatronics and the other using CGI.
Spider- Man Like most Hollywood movies nowadays... 😂
there are still animaatronics here
Wow, there was way more stuff going on with the old. The new they just covered everything up.
@Walter White not really there's good things
@@JangosJunk77 I mean they can redeem themselves by putting more dinosaurs
Its under technical rehearsals apparently, hopefully they add some dinos when it actually opens
So they open it just to close it again and put more stuff? O_o
Seems like they rushed it then... Makes no sense.
@@Seroxm13 oh definitely, they closed their oldest and most popular non motion simulator screen attraction to be refurbished within less than a year's time to reopen to the public. They should've taken their time and refurbished all the animatronics. Yeah, predator cove was very lacking
Right now it's gonna be closed for awhile as it was just in limited technical rehearsal, but people think they're possibly adding more to it, as this small opening could've just been a preview of what to expect
@@StarryKosmik They're calling it a technical rehearsal but it's kinda like a semi soft opening, but it's closed again probably to add the rest of the stuff in and this was essentially a preview
@@StarryKosmik Ah, that makes more sense
i like parts of the new ride but i see why people like the original better but practical effects + breakdowns .... i understand why they removed some of that stuff too
i bet you couldn’t take your eyes away from the jurassic park one
I love the opening on the original ride. It is more immersive...feels like you are really going into the movie. The new ride looks good, but wish they could have kept the opening. I understand those large animatronics were probably difficult to maintain though.
this was really well made, thank you
Thanks for making this video! It's so neat to see the side by side comparison. 🦖🦕
Even for a soft opening, this new version is absolutely sanitized of anything thrilling or exciting. There are stretches of the ride where you should be feeling dread, but instead, you're left with a boring indominus pen that they could have done more with, and a t rex zone that feels lifeless.
Michael Preda shouldn’t assume if you haven’t gone on the ride yet just saying I heard videos don’t really do it justice
I like the newer ending, but that original opening can't be beat. If they would have kept the Ultrasaur Lagoon and that opening narration I think it would have been perfect
Arcade Zero I liked Ultrasour lagoon, but those crooked necks looked so weird.
Kinda looks like the original was better..
Something I zeroed in on is the lighting in the new one is a lot worse. The old ride had hazard lights, flashing electrical sparks, the works. I wonder if they took it all out in case someone came up to them with an epilepsy lawsuit, could've just stuck a warning on the front of the place if that were the case :(
Thanks for this. Can't wait to ride it myself
Jurassic Park definitely had a better outdoor portion, but I think they improved with the indoor portion with the Jurassic World ride.
Jurassic World feels empty. I mean very little animontronics, the predator section doesnt feel scary, and the beginning feels hollow.
Thank you for the awesome memories inside universal
Left side looks good.
It’s crazy how they managed to take all of that out and make it like this
The old JP Ride was Way Better, They did an Obvious Rush Job on JW 💩
I like that big splash once you go into that dark jungle in Jurassic world
The screen aquarium is totally amazing!!! Also the T-Rex that swoops down after the small lift hill and drop is super cool and looks terrifying. One of my complaints though is the ride feels bare? There seems to be not a lot of theming between the aquarium to predator cove which kinda loses me a bit. I get the attention should be brought to the screens one you pass by predator cove but I wish there was at least one more dinosaur or they could’ve kept the raft with the floating Mickey ears. It doesn’t look too bad but I do think there’s some gaps that could be filled!
Jurassic Park's final drop seemed better with the t-rex coming through the waterfall and the countdown to the drop, I liked the industrial pipework, I was lucky to ride it when Jurassic Park was new at the time but I think the new update was needed.
And also the T-Rex was a lot closer to the boat in the original
Soul vs soulless
Of course the original will always have a special place in my heart. I went to the movies to watch it in summer of 93.
I know the animatronics were difficult to maintain, but nothing compares to when the original gates open. It really was breathtaking! The new one feels so soulless in comparison.
Universal should’ve taken their time with this. What happened to those leaked photos of the I-Rex fighting the T-Rex over head? I am telling you that ride would be the talk of the YEAR if they would’ve gone with an overhead fight. I feel like their was nothing really new brought to the table just reskinning everything and taking out some things pretty much. ADD SOMETHING NEEEW Universal.. bring some originality and imagination into this ride.. and not just a screen that’s lazy and you know it. I was so pumped for something NEW and some really cool animatronics but sadly I was let down.. next time just take your time Universal I understand time is money but if you put more effort into things you reap the benefits.
I think they are still fixing the I rex because when you watch the behind the scenes video for this ride, you can see them building arms for the I rex but its nonexistent of any I rex animatronic, it is just the head. Maby they will fix this problem, it is a soft opening after all.
The irex that your seeing is not going to be there for long because they are going to remove the irex and put a other i rex that has the body and will acually fight the trex
Juan Diego cruz oh really? So they are essentially just showing the mechanics for now?
Original is so much better. I expected more from Jurasic World.
Agreed. It was more like Jurassic Walls
I thought the falling car was gonna be in the new one
Disappointment 100
To be fair, the Jurassic world ride got something right and had some good ideas that either weren’t executed right or were just unfinished
Great job! Love both rides! I only wish that the T. rex and Ten Indominos Rex would of actually fought! I made a side by side as well if any one wants to check it out!
They arent finished with the indominus animatronic so they are redoing the end in the near future. For now tho, its just a head. Thats what i heard.
I like the feel of the original more. There's more of a horror aspect with things going terribly wrong rather than the new one where it just feels like you're on a dangerous river cruise. I like the idea of the water station being the Tyrannosaur exhibit but I think it would have been cooler if they had the boat float between some electric fences that the dinosaurs are trying to break through and then have the Tyrannosaur break through the fence and attack the guests at the end. They had the foundation for a good thrill/horror ride but they made a few too many choices that really broke the ride's illusion.
I was hoping you'd pull the 1997 JP video for comparison, with ALL of the original effects & fluid moving figures.
Why that wouldn’t be accurate since we see the old animatronics, and see the improvement of the ride
That’d be rather misleading, considering that the reason world was done in the first place was to update JP that suffered from a lot maintenance issues. Especially when it came to effects and animatronics.
@@DrStank64 Nah, its a fair comparison.
Rip little foot
Wow I thought the new one was a great improvement, but seeing it now, the original had so much more. The layout was way better and actually built suspense leading to the final drop. Darn
Jurassic world begging best scene 2 jurassic park scene 3 stego and para jurassic world scene 4 jurassic park lift hill tie the ending scene jurassic world. What I, want about this is what scenes are better in the ride
Just like the original Jurassic Park movie, the original ride was best.
The new ride will never ever be better than the original in any way, but oh my gosh I love how much the parasaurolophus moves her head now! Really wish they would have taken the opportunity to re-implement the original lunging effect though. The only benefit to this version is getting to see her longer.
Great comparison, but I prefer the old Jurassic Park the most but the designs on the Jurassic World ones are cool.
I feel like the new ride just seems a little bare during the outdoor show scenes. It would be cool if they showed a crashed girosphere or make the mosasaurus come out of the water a bit during the Aquarium scene. Also I think they should bring back the water that was falling down during the big drop
Can you make a updated version please? The new I-rex completely changed my opinion on the JW ride.
Everyone who think's they liked the original better, pay more attention to the end of the ride. In the new version. there's so much more action going on.
Yeah but that’s why the t-Rex popping out at the end is so surprising on the original. It looks like it’s just a waterfall that’s going to it you and then BAM t-Rex!
Instead of using screens for the mosasaurus, they should have built an animatronic head and when the boat floats past, it comes out of the murky water and roars. The screens barely use any of the area that the original used.
It seems like they took out and covered up more than they added.
If you seriously think that a cartoon Mosasaur on TV screens is an improvement over actual, physical Ultrasaur animatronics that tower over you and make you feel just how huge and awe-inspiring these creatures were, then I really have no idea what to say to you. And before someone says "Well, the animatronics were old and broken down and barely moved," the solution to that is not to replace them with screens, it's to refurbish and update them.
LOL, who are you arguing with? I’ve been reading through a bunch of these comments and no one is saying the new version is better.
@@jennycraigadventures3314 It was more of a general statement, but I have seen one or two people on Twitter say the Mosasaur is better than the "broken-necked" Ultrasaurs.
The old one was way better.
@Jamarious Brown No, I'm not the dewy-eyed
type at all. The new one is more boring and in-cohesive, and a lot of areas that people enjoyed from the previous ride were taken out and replaced by virtually nothing. The raft being attacked, the falling SUV and the spitting dilophosaurus were replace by bars, scratched walls, tv screens and pictures of dinosaurs. Also, where are the two compsognathus fighting over the empty box of popcorn? Is that still there??? If no, what a lame update. Seriously, I was looking forward to the updates, but they really failed.
@Jamarious Brown Gees, learn to use commas.
@Jamarious Brown I'm not even old enough to remember the original movie, and even I think the new ride sucks.
@@AkioWasRight Also, why would did the eliminate the waterfall that hides the T-rex before the drop? It s really added to the terror just before the drop.
@Jamarious Brown Holy shit, shut up!
I never believed that there would be a better Jurassic Park sequel or reboot, but I believe that J-World did not reach its full potential. Not enough to deserve a ride much less then replacing the best ride ever.
I like the original opening over the new one. Right before you go up into the tunnel they could add some raptors ready to attack right in front of the scratches on the wall and dylopasauras on the other side spraying the guests with water. Just a few thoughts. I will likely go on the ride next year. Rode the original ride in 1997, 2001 and a third time in 2013.
I couldn't tell in this vid but can somebody tell me did they remove the Mickey hat from the water in predator cove? Cause if so 0/10 LITERALLY UNRIDEABLE(but on the real is it still there?)
Is it the same T. rex? The movement seems different
Well it appears Universal kept the guests with NO volume control with the new version!
Definitely prefer the old version much better. Seems more impressive and its much more nostalgic
😢 RIP Jurassic Park Ride...
This just gives a refurbished, let's put some plants in the corner kind of feel.
From being one of the people to already have rode the ride, videos don’t do the ride justice. To get a wide scope on the ride you need be on the raft. Don’t give hate until you see it for yourself
aaron serrano That is completely correct and fair to say. Even then, at least to those who rode the original ride, there is nothing to make Jurassic World THE reason to go to Universal for. More a “if you happen to be at Universal for another ride/reason then will check it out...”. 😉
Thank you!!
i think that the mosasourus effect is great but the opening of the doors on the original cant be beat. And i think the lack of ride vehicles, outside dinos and the fake look of the destruction really lets the new one down. The inside scene is incredible however everything that used to awe the guests is missing.
Can we talk about the sterile and boring blue/silver color scheme plastered everywhere? It's so homogenized. And that's just a nitpick considering everything new looks like set dressing hodge-podge. What a way to muck-up a classic! lmao
That's just Jurassic World's branding all over. Grey and blue. Like a commercial for Diet Pepsi. Really dissapointing cold corporate feel when the original was *bold* and colourful.
@@MrSnaztastic it's not just that, the previous one was telling an actual story, that doesn't feel like that with the new one. You are shoved into that tunnel at the beginning which is very odd. Then you get the same old stego section, and then in the old one you could tell the expected journey was not possible and you were diverted into a backstage area of the Jurassic Park. You could also see that previous visitors most likely died.
In the new one you follow the expected path, which for some reason goes buy the raptor pen, why would a park do that ? You can't see them in there. It makes no sense. The rest is just empty scenery, which is boring AF.
It's not just a visual problem, the theming at large is fucked up. I don't know why it was done that way, but it's clearly bad.
Wait so they replaced it?
What a failure in design... it's wrong everywhere. WTF universal seriously ? Who came up with this ?
I do wish the Jurassic World video was front seat. Nevertheless, this was a cool comparison. I do wish I had gotten to the park before the park renovated this ride (even though it was more than likely no different from the one at Universal's Islands of Adventure). The only reason I didn't visit Universal Studios when I was in Southern California in 2014 was because we already had too much stuff planned for our vacation and we thought it would be a better time to visit when the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened up. However, I really think the new Jurassic World theming is very cool. I would certainly approve of this, but I hope the one in Orlando stays the same as it is now.
It is disappointing at how barren parts are
The intro to the original was better how he says “welcome to Jurassic Park” it gave you this feeling like you were part of the movie or if you are really in that world. The new one took away that nice theming in the beginning, the tank is cool but it shouldn’t have started with that. Especially since it breaks the glass it makes it seem like the chaos is about to happen and it didn’t, it went back to tranquil. That scene should had been place in the now dead area. They took out so much of the animatronics. And to say “oh the it would always break down that’s why they got rid of it” is bullshit. They are universal, not six flags. They have great engineers that could had fixed that issue instead of getting rid of it. With the billions of dollars they make each year, there’s no excuse. They let us down.
When I heard they were turning Jurassic Park into Jurassic World, I was all for it as I thought they were gonna go with creature studios to redo all the animatronics and essentially make all the dinosaurs look amazing and realistic with amazing motion. That sadly wasn't the case, and it honestly has a worse opening and ending.
Nothing like the original, sorry guys, I dont like the new one
I can not agree with you more
Mosasaur part was lame sorry if i spelled it wrong i fell like if they were to do that make it a little more darker more scarey mabey put it at the end so it well fit right in like the light's go out then pop's up right next to you .
Jurassic Park 1997: ruclips.net/video/8s7gxJkhvTo/видео.html. I think there should be a clip comparison from JPark 1997 with the JWorld because in that time JPark would be relatively younger in its operation as comparing JWorld with an aged JPark ride would be a bit biased as the effects for the original ride have been worn out.
The new one looks great but it was a wasted opportunity to add more than just a few screens a paint job and a indominus Rex such as the falling car they could have put the gyrosphere ball falling from the top the Raptor pin there was no need for that neither they could have replaced it with maybe a pterodactyl pain which would have been cool and added some more dinosaurs feels really empty
La nouvelle version est cool. Mais il y’a a trop d’espace vide et un manque de décors comparé à l’ancienne version
I have to say that i like both rides. But! Jp:the Ride was better as a Dino safari ride (like Dinosaur in Animal Kingdom), but my main problem with the ride that SUV didn't fall. Whereas JW:The Ride was kinda different. But i did like the indoor jungle setting & the mosasaur. But c'mon...those advertisement pictures of T-Rex & the T.V.'s within the ride & don't get me started with the plastic Pterosaurs with the fake blood painted on the walls. Hope the updates will fix that for the ride. As for my rating.
Jp:The Ride. 85%
JW:The Ride. 65%
bro they should have made the T.rex come closer to the boat like in the original, and should have kept the abandoned boats, and add the falling car that could actually fall
The trex is less further because of the indo rex and so it doesnt look like it floating as much as before
They ruined a great ride.
Jurassic Park always
Should be more like Indiana Jones...... riding a Jeep with Owen on an adventure around Jurassic World. This ride is way to slow for me.
They should have kept Original Ride! & Update the Current Animations not do what they did.
Whats the difference??
i like the origanal better
Anyone check on that kid screaming on the first drop lmao
Don't get me wrong they're both great. I loved jp but the new one also lovable in diffrent ways.Though the new one lacks on destruction and the jungle feel. The old one lacked on having a screen like the new on does.
I really hope that the add something to middle of section of the new ride. It's empty!!! Who signed off on that?
Either way, a real Jurassic world ride won't be given Justice until you get to ride in those rotating balls like in the movie.
I can't stand how bad those dead pteranodons look. Not only do they look like cheap plastic toys, but I don't understand their purpose? It's also a really sudden jump in terms of gory detail compared to what's normally seen in the films and on the rest of the ride. I think all the blood and torn wings is really excessive and a bit distasteful, I really hope they get rid of them and replace them with something else. The dinosaurs are the stars of the show and we should be in awe of how amazing they are, not tearing them to shreds. I suppose it's in-line with the World films (pteranodons being shot out of the sky, raptors being shot with rocket launchers and dinosaurs drowning in the ocean), but it still feels like too much.
And as someone who never got to ride the original and hasn't ridden this new one yet, I definitely still prefer the first one. Not only is it themed better (I like Park but don't like World), but the actual narrative taking place makes a lot more sense. The ending of this ride doesn't make sense at all, and the mosasaur area doesn't add up in terms of geography when it swims under the boat and to the other side. It all feels very disconnected and unbelievable, not to mention Chris Pratt's stupid blabbering on the screens later on during the dead zone of the ride where nothing happens.
I don't think the original JP ride was perfect - the animatronics could definitely have used some touch-ups to their core designs and movements (I wish the stegosaurs actually looked like real JP stegos, for example, and the raptors coming out of the ceiling always looked a little cheap to me), but this new ride is a downgrade in most areas, unfortunately. I'll still ride it when I get the chance, but I really miss the time before "World" became the new standard with its boring grey/blue themes, raptors that act like trained dogs, and Chris Pratt being annoying.
I prefer the older one. I rode it again after the changes, and didn’t like a lot of the changes. The old one had more character. This new one feels dull
Jurrasic Park seems a lot more realistic
The screens are cool, but the mist and the t rex coming out of a waterfall is way better. Hate the modern vibe of the new ride too, I like the old industrial look.
I generally prefer the JP version, mainly because if the start with the dores opening and then you are greeted by the large dinosaurs. Were in the JW version it's a "cheap"(I know they are ekspencive) screenin showing that thing, it's not doing it for me, and dossent make enny structural sense, like look at the end of the tunnel, it just kinda ends and feels rushed, but if they have really put in the time and monny, it coud have beein even better
I expected a more fun ride and more changes but its basically the same thing. It should have shown more of the new tech more realistic looking dinosaurs no screens maybe a more realistic thing
I think Jurassic World ride needs more action. I also think they should’ve kept Hammond’s narration, it just gives me the chills!!!! Last thing: specifically after Predators cove it becomes very boring till the T. rex scenario. :(
Jurassic Park was much better, more dinosaurs, the Ford explorer that almost falls, more trill
Original Ride > so much to look at, wonderful intro & music, intricately decorated building interiors & colors, animatronics, destruction & comedy.
New Ride > monochromatic gray walls, video screens, no comedy.
Verdict >>> They fucked up. The old ride is better, period.
Tbh I like Jurassic park more because I did an project based off of it and it was a lot easier then Jurassic world would be because there’s more animatronics to go off of and more music and such it has a nature type feel to it like old time but Jurassic world has more screens because it’s newer with the under water dinosaur and like the new other dinosaurs so it’s like
Jurassic park 9/10
Jurassic world 8/10
Also JP has the sunken boat and the falling car and stuff
The outdoor portions or the original blow the new one out of the water. Like all the screens and blank walls in the new one are so utterly boring. The new indoor portions are very, very nice though.
i prefer the original, there was much more thrill cmpared to the new one . Sometimes old stuff is better. its the same with the tower of terror in Disney. The guardians of the galayx may be cool, but the original was scary and thrill from the beginning when entering the abandoned lobby
Monica Warfsmann I loved Tower of Terror, but once I rode the Florida version, I was never again that impressed with DCA’s. I think Guardians at least did more with the limited construct of the ride.
Theme park shark... is this you????
I think the downgraded when they made it Jurassic World
The last part is so dark! Seems like a downgrade.
I'm not really liking the new ride I thought it was going to be more exciting they have so much space to do so much and they just have a big empty space with dead pterodactyls it makes no sense they should have a raptor some kind of meat eater right there it looks so plain. Hopefully they'll add more things when the ride officially opens
First one is better more dinosaurs
