Near the end of the sermon David says in 2015 the Roman pope addressed the American congress for the first time and claims this event to be prophetic but doesn't say one thing about what that pope siad or even who that pope is, what he thinks or even his name?? ( pope Francis) David immediately pivots to a 2001 magazine article that is talking about events sixteen years before 2001 ? Does president Reagan in 1985 allegedly working with pope John Paul 2 to Peacefully end communism in eastern Europe really have prophetic relevance to today in 2020 or with the American military industrial complex wich YES is a real thing ? For good reasons I believe the catholic church is Babylon but the problem i have is that the catholic pope changes almost every ten to fifteen years and the new pope brings in his own personal beliefs to the catholic church. In the 1980's pope john Paul 2 was apposed to large authoritarian governments, nazi Germany and the soviet union, was conservative and believed homosexuslity a sin while pope Francis today is an admitted socialist, has been critical of capitalism, and leans in certain ways communist, has no problems with homosexual relations and even might have unitarian (all religions equal) religious convictions. David also talks about the three C's, communism, capitalism and catholicism, saying communism is a thing of the past ? And capitalism and catholicism are then united. Is this an assumption on his part or is this biblical? show me where the bible says what "Type" of government unites with the catholic church. Over half of millennials polled in America and England recently believe socialism and to a lesser degree communism can be a good form of government as it is more fair in thier understanding. they are really ignorant of history and have never been taught about the cold war, communist soviet gulags, the mass executions and imprisonment there, and in Romania, hungary, Poland, Czechoslavakia, Cuba Etc. Also the planned starvation of two million in Ukraine and the many horrors of the communist khmer Rouge in south Asia in my opinion. I know we all have biases based on our personal experience and maybe age also but my biases or David's biases are not the same thing as the bible so as we try to understand last day events we not only need to understand God's word but also all of world history and also society as it really is today.

Pope Francis, like other popes, follows Catholic teachings.

I have heard David speak on this topic in other settings. I believe David's over-arching point about the Pope is that the Office of the Roman Catholic Papacy meets the prophetic criteria of the anti-Christ, not any specific Pope. As a result, the actions of previous Popes and future Popes are indeed linked. Whether one agrees or disagrees with that interpretation, this I believe is what he's attempting to communicate on that topic.

The Roman Catholic Church itself never changes regardless of who the Pope is at the time. The world Catholic meaning Universal is the mother of harlots.

It concerns me greatly, just how many SDA people I have talked to seem to support Socialist policies. It tends to reflect a noble, yet naive notion of a 'compassionate works oriented' based faith without recognizing the seductive allurement of government legislated Communism rather than individual service to our fellow man. Just saying....

My experience is that it depends on what part of the country. SDA folk, like people of every other demonization are products of their environment. When was in the Pacific Northwest I had the same experience you describe - most church members were very 'progressive' in their political views perceiving progressive/marxist inspired policies to be compassionate/kind/caring/etc.. However, now in the Southeast, that viewpoint is far less prevalent. I believe you'd find the same thing in congregations of Baptist, Method, Catholic, Anglican, etc., etc.. The insanity of this is that progressive/socialist/marxist governments do indeed dole out free bread and public housing - but they also have ALWAYS brutally suppressed any minorities deviating from the social norm in any way - people like SDA. Unfortunately, Revelation suggests that these progressive SDAs will one day soon get what they've been pining for.
