@@therealscarhomie It is most certainly not. It's still in active development and we have weekly playtests on Saturdays (although the servers are always open).
unity has no backend, told by devs themselves. It has no future anytime within the next 5 years. Ss14 on the other hand gets decent updates every few months.
@@Tory-JJ What do you mean, exactly? Unity might not have consistent updates, but it does have updates. There's been plenty of progress. When did you hear that? There's a lot of things about Unitystation that have changed since everyone was talking about it a couple years ago.
After nukies nuked the station I saw hundreds of items and materials smoothly floating through space at slightly varying velocities...it looked like an actual debris field... it was unsettling for me to look at, at first, but it was really cool to see how well the game runs.
@@khlorghaal i`m sure player movement would be simple enough for them to make it either an option for servers or for servers themselves to be able to change it with custom code.
@@underscorecow-gaming4486 It *is* an option, but no server uses it because once you get past the first 60 minutes you never wanna go back to tiled movement lol. Also your bomb shop video is marked as "RUclips Kids" for some reason, so comments are disabled.
the big reason i dont see ss14 being a whole success is they chose a new codebase instead of a blackbox reimplementation of dreammaker, so people cant simply port their servers, it needs a total rewrite of everything though i do appreciate how its still definitively the same game
you can get some pretty substantial improvements by not going for as scuffed an architecture as byond's tho. OpenDream still promises to be better than current byond but being able to run clientside content is a pretty huge boon for one
@@Morbonis I think if anything ends up succeeding BYOND, it's probably going to be OpenDream. A lot of codebases are going to be more enticed to port things over if they don't have to do it in an entirely new language.
For all who don't know, all songs played in order of first to last: Pirates of the carribean theme, ASGORE (Undertale ost), Spear of Justice/Battle against a True Hero (Undertale OST), Linkin Park - In the End, Adele - Rolling in the Deep, Kirby Dreamland Theme, Sonic 3 - Ice Cap Zone Act 1
Cause it plays the midi file directly, meanwhile ss13 instruments can only play one sound at a time so you need multiple instruments with different roles for complex music so it doesnt sound like a mess.

Also despite it being made i think it would be hard for servers to move cause they need to port a lot of stuff and changing it from dm to c# might be difficult especially when they new changes will be appearing as they will need to code it into c# as well. So i dont think we will see big coderbases moving in near future. Maybe in few years but not now
My brain calculates distances in tiles, not in pixels. Being able to consistently perform a 1 tick pie throw - flip - fart while moving to the tile of my victim is essential for gameplay
SS13 has a big community and over 10 years of improvements (a lot more but the have been more changes in the recent years), while SS14 is a little baby who have just been born
There's Unitystation too although it's a bit scuffed to be honest.
Still love it though. Great community.
its dead

I prefer the feel of Unitystation over SS14

I'm always weirded out by how smooth everything moves in ss14.

@@underscorecow-gaming4486 That's amazing, this legitimately gives me hope for the future of 2D spessmen.
i think if they just constrained player movement to the grid it would eliminate that
since goonstation has smooth movement without the weird feeling

check OpenDream that runs on same as SS14 engine

You mean like the new Daggerfall? Which is more popular now than old Daggerfall and uses a new codebase and new mods? Weird logic, sir.

Not being bound to tiles feels uncanny but cool, wonder how combat range works though

ss14 got so much room to improve
The pixel movement still doesn't stick with me.
But everything else does seem good.
DOES anybody know what songs are being played in the video? Two of them are haunting me but I cannot identify them for the life of me.
One of them is pirates of the caribean, that I know for sure

it probably compiles the notes instead of playing them individually so it sounds smooth

its lizard time
lizer go weh
Very nice. Unfortunately, I hate pixel movement.

They're adding options for tile movement soon
Only problem is you gotta have the instrument in hand to play
i prefer ss13 over ss14, ss13 just feels nicer
You daft
Well yes it isn't even out (early access) and Space Station's 13 servers got a lot of years to make a shit ton of improvement and nice maps

It's kinda like comparing D&D5e to Pathfinder.
0:56 I NEED IT CODE! PLEASE!
Nice to see you in other places besides "TG"
Wait you can just play midi file instead of making it into text file to copy it into the game instrument?
yes
amazing
can't wait until someone exploits the shit out of that
What's the server? and also why is basically every server Russian?
There is practically two English speaking severs, wizard's den lizard and nyanosteen
Only thing i hate about ss14 is the UI I hope they change it soon looks terribly terribly bland
what is the guitar song?
Asgore theme
I'm not hearing anything?
Check your sound settings and output device.
Either you just found out your deaf or your audio device is shagged.
No scuffed Pirate of the Caribbean theme for you then.
this game is annoying they permabanned me as a joke and want me to wait 6 months bruh this game is gunna be dead in 6 months tbh
