I love these super-long versions of TV themes. This was back in the days when there were relatively few commercials and they could afford the extra air-time.
The opening especially with Balki so excited to come to America and his eyes lighting up seeing the Statue of Liberty as the barge pulled into N.Y. harbor. "America or Burst".
The 80s WAS about Feel Good shows and Hope and gettin out there and living life and that's the big difference between now and then. People long for Hope and less of these dark TV shows that are everywhere. I was blessed to be on a couple of my favorite shows in the 80s..

So much nostalgia packed into one beautiful TV show... A beautiful story of a guy who goes to America to fufill his dreams... It is unbelievably disgusting how we went from shows like THIS, to the Kardashians. My mom told me people lost their creative grip when the Internet became Mainstream. I miss the nostalgia like these 80's shows... I just wish there was a TV channel dedicated to these types of shows on ALL platforms. I just wish we all got our grip on creativity back...

While the Internet has brought communication a finger tip away it has also brought us further appart and detached from real life interacting. I don't know I just made this up.

I remember this show when I was 7 or 8 years old, I was born in 1984 so I was able to catch the show during the end of it's original run great memories...
There is an optimism in each of these old theme songs that has waned. It is true that eventually television became more gritty and real to escape endless repetition. But seeking grit wasn't what we turned to TV for in the first place back then.
I have no problem with people having nostalgia for the past, I myself have occasionally been prone to it, but when it means that you sacrifce the future for the past, well, Langoliers, you get stuck in a world that is dead, rather than one waiting to be born.
The theme song was actually written for the program by the talented duo Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay (they also wrote for other Miller-Boyett productions like, Full House, Step by Step, and Family Matters).
Nothing like the 70s 80s and 90s TV sitcom theme songs they are so powerful there's been very few here in the 21st century except for maybe one such as the Big Bang Theory

I was very young when this show was on RPN 9 and I really loved it. I began studying english at such young age just to understand what they are saying. My favorite part were thos where Balki acts lika ninja. Now I write for a living, earning good salary working at home.. It started with this show.
