    Eddie almost died lifting 500 kg wich means that lifting more than 500 kg is a death wish, then you have Hafthor lifting 501 kg and standing on his legs, and walk away with some skin would on his legs that's impressive yes its only 1 kg difference, but it's still 501 kg i would love to see Eddie try to lift 501 kg but he's afraid of dying.

      He has such large muscles that when he contracts them it shoots blood out of the muscle and bleeds out at random points in his body because of how much blood is displaced.
      WR deadlift attempts frequently result in hospitalizations. This is an extreme sport

      @keyann: Likely Thor head butted a wall or bar to psyche up for his big lift. Many lifters have cut their foreheads doing exactly that… I’ve always marveled at such when I’ve been in the audience, as you can HEAR the dull “thud!!” of head-to-metal…..
      The commentator who says, “For all the marbles, here it is!” sounds like former multiple WSM winner Bill Kazmeier. When Kaz was a world champion and world record holding power lifter - whom I watched in 1980 at the Senior Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin - he would occasionally have someone slap his face very hard(!) before a big attempt.
      Powerlifters sometimes spring nosebleeds during squats and deadlifts, though that’s not from behavior. PL’er Terry McCormick was sort of famous for needing cotton packing up both nostrils due to his nosebleeds. He was a fine lifter, undeterred by his little issue.
      It’s a bunch of INTENSE competitors doing what they do!!

    howis the elephant bar different from his successful 501 kg lift?

    • @branominal8564
      @branominal8564 3 месяца назад

      Elephant bar is longer and loaded with thicker plates making the initial few inches of the pull easier, but it is also done without a deadlift suit or figure-8 straps, the extra length causing more whip, so beyond a couple of inches it becomes a lot harder
      If you watch Eddie's 465 on the elephant bar compared to his 465 just before his 500 lift, you can see how much harder the elephant bar is
