I can see how you'd ask a question like that. This video doesn't show the racing aspect rather the full contact nature of this style of Speedway class. Palmerston North's Robertson Holden International Speedway welcomed 13 teams representing speedway tracks from throughout New Zealand to battle it out for the title. 4 cars in a team racing one team against each other. Normally 2 running cars against 2 blocking cars. There are certainly a lot of rules and these cars can be worth over US$150K
Great to see some good old fashion teams racing like it used to be in the 80s as that what its all about smash, crash and bash each other out of the race.
its 4v4, its teams racing so there is a lot of strategy on how each team race, generally there are usually 2 drivers who block, 2 who race to win. in the group stage you get points on where you place, 1st gets like 50 points? 2nd gets 40, 3rd 30 points... im not sure on the exact details but the finals are different, in the final races its all about who comes first, and if you arent leading, you do everything you can to stop/upset the other team. What youre watching is just highlights.
Ok so it's more I don't understand what I'm watching. When you said "blocker cars". Does that mean it's more like a roller derby rules? Points for leading so many laps and so on?
Great Footage once again. My brother used to drive stock cars over here in the U.K.
Derek.
awesome footage!
What about any footage from the grand parade on finals night?! ;)
