I am so stoked about these rains. Already found some great chants, porcini, lobsters and c.o.w. and going to NAMA Camp 2024. Best mushroom season ever.
It's been very dry out here so the chanterelles are not doing well but the Maitake are popping up amazingly. I've made a couple recent finds shots. The Maitake with fresh garlic, butter and milk are the best in years. 🎉🎉
LOVING the rains! I’ve got my first flush of blue öysters in my backyard, and I’m super excited to get out and hunt for some chanterelles and blewitts!
@mushroomwonderland1 Thought you might laugh at that. Love your channel! Watch every episode. It's been raining for 2 days here on the coast of NC. I'm going out in the morning to see what I find. Mush Love!
@@timmynormand8082 haha.. No I've never heard Vince Vaughn. I think he's pretty handsome so I'll take that as a compliment haha! I do have several foraging knives with a brush on the end but I just didn't have one with me that day, or actually it was probably buried in my backpack but I was just using my SOG knife. I usually clean them up when I get home.
So many chanterelles this year, I had to stop harvesting them as I can't eat them all! I need to get a good soup recipe and a dehydrator. Are you going to be doing any group mushroom walks this fall?

Hey there! Anyway still a drought over here in Wisconsin no mushrooms have been seen since May! What kind of crazy that you're starting to see something over there at least but guess what you're about to have your first snowfall drop! So good luck and say goodbye to your entire fall season cuz you're going to be covered in snow! This is exactly what happened to us last year! That as soon as summer ended we went straight to winter and it sucked really bad! Climate change really sucks! Anyways good luck do the best that you can! Nowadays it seems like only mushrooms pop up during the spring time for a couple of weeks and that's it that's the gist of mushroom season welcome to this horrible future! 😓
@@ScottieD369 here in Western Washington we rarely get snow..maybe 2 times per year on average. Up in the mountains it's a different story. But yeah we're off to a great season and still so mush more to come so stay tuned and you can live vicariously through me.
@@mushroomwonderland1 I definitely appreciate that man! Find that pretty strange that you don't get much snow? And as far as the mushrooms go my compost is starving for them need more varieties! This time of year I'm used to having about 100 lb of mushrooms in my barrel. I will take your word that it will come eventually? But most likely very short lived?! WINTER ALWAYS COMES SUPER FAST! AS I'VE MENTIONED TO MANY PEOPLE HOW PAST FEW YEARS WENT FROM SUMMER TO WINTER OVERNIGHT! FROM 80° EVERYDAY DOWN TO 30S AND 40S! So basically I take it you don't see much climate change over there ?
The leaf litter fuzzy foots might be beneficial for the land but if it outcompetes other mushrooms combined with that it's not native then that would be enough to make it invasive.
@@DoubleADay I like the lobster mushrooms, honestly I don't eat tons of wild mushrooms but my fridge is stuffed with porcini and lobster and chanterelle right now. Sometimes I just dump them out on the bed and roll around in them 🤣🤣
Great episode! Lots of cool finds! My dog loves seeing Gunner and Loki getting more screen time. :) Thanks!

After a tropical storm my area is absolutely filled with fungi and they have been super fun to go out and find and photograph and draw them!

Aaron, Should I be cutting my Chanterelles at the base or pulling them?
Do you ever get mistaken for Vince Vaughn ? Aaron did you ever try a s all paint brush to dust of the debris Just seems like it would help clean them
