- Sky News host Rita Panahi has reacted to Comedian Jerry Seinfeld slamming the “extreme left” for ruining comedy.
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld has come under fire this week for calling out lefties losing it, saying wokeness is to blame for the lack of quality sitcoms on TV.
Seinfeld appeared on the New Yorker Radio Hour podcast alongside host David Remnick, speaking about the need and importance of comedy in television.
“Well, guess what? Where is it? Where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and PC crap and people worrying so much about offending other people,” Seinfeld said.
“I do wonder whether Seinfeld the program would even be made today or would it be considered too risque, too white, too heteronormative perhaps,” Ms Panahi said.

I didn't even see Seinfeld when it was originally aired, but I watch reruns now almost every night. The show was produced from 1989 to 1998 so some of the episodes are 35 years old! They're still hilarious. Last night was one of my favorites with the interlocking stories of the doll that looks like George's mother, Kathy Griffin interfering, the Maestro and the 3 Tenors poster, George's mother walking in on George's father, Kramer, and the Maestro all pant-less and playing billiards ... brilliant writing.

It may be in re-runs, but there will be a time when some eps start to get edited for content, or are no longer available on streams. I make it a point to keep original copies of shows on a hard disk. One complaint and either an ep is gone or completely edited for the stream. I am in the process of collecting all of the episodes of "Our Gang" and "The Little Rascals." Whoopie Goldberg (aka Caryn Johnson) serves one purpose these days. If a DVD begins with her making a disclaimer, then the following content is important and should be preserved. Ditto Rocky and Bullwinkle, if only for making fun of Canadians. ;-)

Good Times, Fat Albert, Roots, Family Matters, 227, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, A Different World, My Wife and Kids, The Jamie Foxx Show, Martin, Diff'rent Strokes, House of Payne, In Living Color, Everybody Hates Chris...where are all the white people??
Out of all of those, only 'What's Happening' was not obsessed with race. I love my 70's shows because they were funny as hell, but every Norman Lear show was off-the-charts liberal, and anti-white, and 'One Day At A Time' was straight up feminazi propaganda. But, I will say that he at least had the balls to make fun of the guilty-white-liberal (think 'Maude') as much as he made fun of Archie Bunker. And All In The Family was the greatest tv show ever, IMO.

If you review "Sanford and Son" episodes you will notice that any white person included in the show is cast as a villain or a stupid. person, etc.

I noticed the guy slamming Seinfeld didn't bring up how 'The Jeffersons' was mostly a Black cast and 'The Cosby Show' was mostly a Black cast, 'Sanford and Son' and the so many other shows which had mostly Black actors.

I used to watch Keeping Up With Appearances reruns on US public TV, that was a hilarious show.
I really miss Monty Python, Benny Hill, Faulty Towers and a host of others.
How about _Absolutely Fabulous_ …Truly one of the funniest comedies - British or American - ever. And I don’t think they could show even ONE episode today.

The issue I have is the utter hypocrisy that seems to come with the "victim mentality" that is so popular within some parts of society. Speaking biological FACTS is not hate speech. Yet they're claiming it is and want people jailed for using the "wrong" pronouns. Ect. They are the ones who seem to often have issues with actual free speech. Seinfeld has the freedom to speak his mind, as he and his family will be wealthy for the rest of his life. I think that we would hear more of the type of sanity he expresses, if more people were like him and didn't need to worry about being cancelled. There are others, like Musk, and Rowling, and more. Too few can do this, but hopefully they will pave the way for others to speak up.

US medical schools and the airline industry have lowered requirements for entry. It's already on the way!

The scoring for National Boards was out of their hands, so they could "pass" all of the students that they wanted, but whether those students went on to an internship/residency was out of their hands. Think about it, do you really want surgery done by the person who needed 30 more minutes to finish their exam? I have considered moving recently, but that would involve giving up my current cardiology team, and I was not to impressed by the available services in the place I was considering for relocation. And this wasn't just the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins snobbery talking. ;-)

A few years ago, Japan had a major scandal as universities, including prestigious Tokyo Medical School, manipulated the test scores in the entrance exams - they gave the men a few extra points so they always scored higher than the women - to keep the percentage of women getting accepted into medical school low.

I do find it ironic to hear Seinfeld talking this way when about a year or so ago he was talking with another comedian who mentioned the inability to make jokes for fear of being cancelled, and Seinfeld THEN said "You've always had limits on what you were allowed to say in comedy."

The Jeffersons were a spinoff from All In The Family. I like Sherman Helmsly as George Jefferson, however he's the second one. This show is on METV, on Sundays, and they're showing another actor playing George Jefferson, and he's not as flamboyant as Sherman Helmsly.
I have never understood the obsessive idolization of people. I have favorite singers, actors and public factors but you would never have caught me wailing over them. Back in my day, yes I’m this old, girls were loosing their minds over Donny Osmond. Did I like his music, yes, was my bedroom covered in his posters, my bedroom purple? No. Can they not admire a person without loosing their souls?

Tim Allen-Last Man Standing- ABC, now a Disney owned company, canceled Last Man Standing, essentially fired Tim Allen when it was the 2nd highest rated TV series. I canceled cable when that happened and haven't watched TV since. That's easy because my sets are all obsolute now.
Seinfeld asks where is the funny stuff on TV... it's on channel 11 at 11:00pm! (And when reruns of Seinfeld aren't on, then reruns of the Honeymooners are on... it doesn't get better than that!) 😁

Jerry is correct but the problem is deeper. It's not that the "critics" complain about offensive jokes...what they really say is that you can't make fun of certain groups...BUT you CAN make fun of other certain groups.
The best show of the last decade was Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing", which I just bought on DVD. ABC arrogantly cancelled it because it was an openly conservative show. People loved it, and now nobody watches ABC.
