I have been in Mike's seat, answering the same questions after a major company f***up.
Fortunately, no one was hurt or killed, but a $100 million in damages has to be answered for.
It is scary, for the simple fact your livelihood will end if you answer wrong for either parties.
I wish that on no one...

I’m very sorry you had to go through that. I hope you and other employees filed a lawsuit, it’s sad that these companies put profits over people.

I have watched the dvd movie more than 15 times and I still ball my eyes out I am 53 year old male and this movie ripped me apart and months later I wanted to really know more than movie, showed and I cannot believe the people involved was not held responsible ... Like the end of movie it ... read at end of the movie with credits was pretty much thrown out of court.. This guy did his job above and be on and a very wonderful job by saving life's of others. Loved the movie but wish it was not true but is Was True Event's I really hope I've not said anything to offend others.. I promise you , I do not mean to have said anything here to hurt people .. my heart and prayers go to the 11 life's lost

Movie is no where near what actually happened. This man, Mike Williams, was NOT the big dog as appeared in the movie. I had several friends and family on Horizon and like Paul Harvey used to say, " Need to know the rest of the story." Check out the 27 page New York Times deposition online. Its an eye opener and tells the truth. Also, google search Randy Skidmore testimony about the incident.

Mike Jones the movie never is.... Mark Wahlberg is likely loosely based on Mike Williams as well as a conglomeration of several other individuals

    • @pagejustin5572
      @pagejustin5572 4 года назад +1

Mike Jones it's what Hollywood does.... For example in the movie Sully the NTSB officers were portrayed as tough talking bad guys accusing Skiles and Sully of screwing up and threatening their careers when in reality the NTSB officials were very polite and very professional.... Hollywood just needed a bad guy so they created one.... For Deepwater Horizon the movie needed a hero and they couldn't tell the real stories of well over a hundred heroes so they likely combined some of the most amazing events from this incident and turned them into the story

The BP officials made for easy bad guys because they likely were actually unsafe if not reckless but certainly money driven people

I was about to comment and say they should have gotten more BECAUSE they fucked up so badly , then saw the second comment.. he didn’t work for BP, he technically worked for Transocean, but it was BP that made the decisions on how to proceed with the well, so ultimately it’s their fault

Mike knows probably all of the rig because of the electrical wires and panels and that kinda stuff he also knew about a accident that happened 4 weeks before the accident happened it was the driller hit the lever that moved the the block up and down the bop/blowout preventer the 1 annulus compartment was closed and it broke the rubber seal and the next time they started drilling again the manager of the mud found some of the rubber seal coming out and he collected a hand full and brought it to the driller and he said don't worry about it so the bop/blowout preventer stoped sealing that was one of the main reasons why it happened that and the blind shear rams shattered and the blue pot was wired backwards and the battery was a little low

I watched the movie of the Deep Water Horizon disaster. It was heartbreaking that showed what had happened to those 11 men who lost their lives that day.

Mike Williams will go down in history as a man of honor and BP will be synonymous for evil corporate greed.

It's too bad Mike still isn't in the oil and gas industry. His experience and knowledge could and would enhance safety and the execution, in a timely manner, of contingency or rescue plans.

The Mike Williams in the movie was a composite character.
The real Mike Williams is not the person that Mark Wahlberg played.

What I’m gonna say is not to take away from how bad this whole thing was but unfortunately u see this everywhere now at every single job where these corporations are so money hungry that they decrease work forces and expand the the work load and don’t care and get away with it . It is now all about profit margins and 15% above last year and people Are expendable from this job to working at McDonald’s. It’s so sad and disgusting but this 💩 is true and this America and they don’t care until a tragedy happens .... pls call me a liar

This is soo aggravating.. Mike’s testimony should have directly put Vidrine in jail , he literally said that Vidrine was the one to tell him not to turn the automatic setting on the IACS that would have turned off all sources of ignition, shut the engine intakes, turn on the fire sprinkler system, turn off the pumps, shut off the fans, automatically close the annulars and BOP .. and Vidrine was the one to suggest the “bladder effect” theory, ignore the 1400 psi on the drill line in favour of the results of 0PSI on the negative pressure test in the kill line , and he was the one to send the slumberger guys home without testing the integrity of the cement job.. Vidrine is 1000% responsible for this fuckup of a well
