The fact is that multigenerational living was/is the norm in the past and in certain cultures all over the world. As we have an ageing population in the West, I suspect more generations will live together over time, and house layouts as well as social expectations will change to accommodate an increase in multigenerational living. In fact, I think things are already changing. Various studies show that many more people are living with parents well into their twenties and thirties and beyond. I think it is possible to be fairly independent while living at home. It is healthy for people to ensure they pull their weight and don't rely on their parents even where they live in. Seek independence, respect your home base, and I think it can be beneficial for everyone. It is opportunity to know your parents as adults, and to know them in ways that are not possible when you are much younger and where the last thing you wanted was a meaningful conversation with the parents.

I love the part of your comment about the opportunity to know our parents as adults, I am experiencing it with my mother and it's awesome.

I'm 30 and I'm planning to return living with my parents🤣
I'm living with roommates since I can't afford living alone in my city.
Living with your parents with an online Job or having a job in the same city as your parents is the way to go.
