Why oh why is the Romme one of my favorites?! There's something about the way it keeps one off balance...much like the Joux Plane. Great vid Mike! Great memories! And the gimble works brilliantly!
WOW, this was great Mike. Loved it and remember every pedal stroke. Thanks for posting such a great video, such great memories of riding the Col de Romme.
Just saw this video. We have a second home near the top of Romme. One thing to note is that it can actually be a quite dangerous climb in the summer with all the motos and "sporty" drivers. The road is quite narrow, especially around the first part carved into the rock, the hamlet of Les Cruz and in the run-in to the village proper of Nancy sur Cluses. It's really best done in the early morning. There is another water trough in the hamlet of Les Chavennes, too, about 2 km from the summit. The water in Romme is a spigot by the playground to your left past the foyer de ski. There is another trough by the view of Colombiere but it's not always functional, and there is just one business in Romme, a restaurant. It's a nice loop back down into Cluses via Le Reposoir.
Thats a good point. Living locally, I tend to avoid the big cols at the weekend especially in July and August. I'll look out for the other water spouts next time I;m up there. Thanks for watching.
While not taking away from Stage 10 of the Men's TdF 2018, actually the Women's 2018 La Course by Le Tour de France was a better race on much of the same course earlier that day. La Course 2018 also went from Annecy to Le Grand-Bornand and the women raced the last 55km over the Col de Romme and the Col de la Colombière. It was a fantastic race and one to watch many times over. ruclips.net/video/tUQmr5boEw4/видео.html
Great video Mike and really good video editing. Looking forward to the next in the series.
Great video Mike. So impressed you do the voiceovers while riding the climbs. Look forward to watching your next outings on video.

Wow what a brilliant vid. Really captures the Romme, although I tend to reach the summit barely able to speak...!
