    At 7:30 did you not consider Qxb7+ to win the rook because the attack on the king was so strong? Or does it not work for some other reason?

      Honestly I did miss this possibility but it's super winning as well. I guess I just had too many good moves to see them all!

    Didn't he have queen takes on b7 with check, winning the rook? On the 2nd last to move I think. Obvi already winning and the rook sacrifice was beautiful

      @Thatotter223 Год назад +1

      Yes but you have to recognize that you are looking to win the game not take pieces. If you have check mate and could in theory take a queen for free you should checkmate obviously.

  • @Jason-sq2up

    I was thinking your plan was to take the bishop. So then I had to think about if it was actually checkmate after you didn't even mention it as an option

    The scary thing about Johnathan (okay, *one* of the scary things) is the he just played a rapid game that he finished fast enough for it to be a blitz game. The man used two minutes, twenty-six in a ten minute game, while his opponent used up six minutes, sixteen. 😂
    Well done, sir, as always.

    I do like the rapid format better than the faster time controls.

    I still don't get it. @ 1:49, how does one continue when the oponent plays Nd8 instead of B8? That just looks like it solves all of blacks problems. I'm not knocking the gambit I would not dare, I'm only 13/1400 So i do presume I'm missing something. I just want to know what it is. I guess after Nd8 and Qc2 you just play normal chess and make use of Blacks lack of development?

    • @eggu1828
      @eggu1828 Год назад +1

      It doesn't matter where black puts the knight. As it moves away back, black get vulnerable to white bishop check and queen trap no matter what you do. Knight placed here is essential to cover black bishop attacking queen spot.

      Won't black actually be up material in this line after bishop takes b5?
      Edit: nvm, there's an intermezzo where white takes black's bishop with check then captures the queen. And either way the engine just says white is destroying by this point.
