My gosh... he skates so fast the camera has a hard time keeping up with him! Sei Mei is a great signature program for him. It tells a cinematic story through the music and he's got all the jumps, the step sequences and gestures that enrich it all. He's truly an onmyoji and I'm sure he feels that way, too.

Man, the technical setup he had for the program here was so good. I know why he had to water it down for the Olympics (and clearly it didn't matter that he did because he still won), but the multiple quads for the program totally works. Completely embodies the theme of the music and the movie. It's so exciting at the second half where all the big jumps just come one after the other, and you can just feel the determination of Yuzuru to land all of them. That's what makes it so fitting with the whole program. It's not just cautious quad, quad, quad, triple, triple. It's like he's attacking it, like a battle Onmyoji. Man, I'd love to have seen it executed cleanly in competition with this setup!
Very few programs completely support the multiple quads like Yuzuru's Seimei does. I'm secretly hoping he goes back to this program and setup next season but probably unlikely since it'll be the third season with Seimei.
Well, whatever Yuzuru produces for next season, I know we'll all be completely amazed!

agree! i really wish I could see him skate this new ver of semi once in comp (I mean like completely complete everything like he did in 2015) this music really suits multiple quads

Can someone help me? I'm looking for Seimei with backward crossrolls but I cannot find it anywhere anymore. Did he only do it in a rehearsal?

He looks tired here, not happy. but this is a packed, quick choreography that requires a tremendous amount of alertness. Fly, Yuzu!

If this is Yuzu just making up choreography on the fly according to the music he will be a great coach and choreographer when he's not able to skate amateur.

One wonders just how long Yuzu can keep competing on an amateur level.

I'm new to ice skating, how long do athletes usually compete on a high level?

Roosa L Figure skating has a pretty short lifespan. The ladies singles these days will probably compete until their early-20s (from what I’ve gathered these days, especially the Russian girls), and a lot of the men singles will last up to their mid-20s, late-20s if possible since figure skating really is a rigorous and bone-wearing sport that can get you severely injured. It’s highly likely that an Olympic medalist or skater retires after the Olympics, which is what makes Yuzu’s skating so enjoyable to watch because even after winning two consecutive gold medals in the OG he still manages to motivate himself and improve his skating. But to convert from an amateur to a professional means that you acquire money from performing, whilst amateurs will likely only get prize money from winning big events. It’s hard to tell really, considering the standards have changed and pro skaters may sometimes still compete, the same way amateur skaters may sometimes earn money from performing under certain circumstances. Not sure if I explained this clear enough. Feel free to correct me :)

@@kiyoomisakusa8214 Wow, thank you for the information, that was really interesting to read. I didn't know there was this "amateur" and "pro" thing, I thought that completely depended on the skills. When the person said amateur level I was shocked because I thought they were saying that Yuzuru isn't a professional;/skilled skater. I was about to throw some hands lol, considering he's the Olympic champ haha

@@mintgi4136 lol yeah, i guess it’s pretty self-explanatory. professional skaters are like professional athletes, they make a living off of their sport, unlike amateurs. we don’t know what path yuzu will take in the future, but let’s all hope we would still be able to witness him stay in touch with the ice rink :)
